The IdeaPad Pro is a different beast to the regular variety with much better quality, such as full aluminum chassis and QHD 120hz 100% SRGB screen option compared to the regular variety I posted earlier.

Now there are two colour configurations (Storm Grey and Cloud Grey) with slightly different specs and prices. I spoke to the sales rep online and they advised me that delivery would be 6 to 8 weeks depending on the custom configuration.

If you select the "Storm Grey" colour configuration, you get access to the Nvidia 3050. If you select the "Cloud Grey", you get access to only the Nvidia 1650.

Storm Grey Colour Configuration $1473.91.
Ryzen 5800H
16GB RAM
512 SSD
QHD 120hz 100% sRGB 350nits
Nvidia 3050 4GB

Price on regular Lenovo website is $2244.01 for this configuration.

Cloud Grey Colour Configuration $1294.01
Ryzen 5800H
16GB RAM
512 SSD
QHD 120Hz 100% sRGB 350 nits
Nvidia 1650 4GB

Price on regular Lenovo website is $1973.01 for this configuration

These laptops are quoted to achieve up to 10hrs battery life with the dGPU option and the 75wh battery.

You will save about $100 if you just need a six core 5600H option

                                                    • @haz23: wow! that's great mate, how is that ? did you play with it ?
btw, did they call you before arriving ? Is it DHL ?

                                                  • @chutibuti: they have provided an useless tracking number for us, what should we do with that internal delivery lol. I think we need to track it locally specially if there is a missed delivery or so.

                                                    • @bazingaa: You should have the additional DHL tracking number in the Lenovo Order Visibility Portal.

                                                      • @beaver2233: I think they haven't added that for us in Melbourne, what is the starting number and number of digits of yours ?

@bazingaa: Hmm, just realised the tracking number is the same as the expeditors number. The DHL tracking only appears to works here; https://mysctrackandtrace.dhl.com/

                                                          • @beaver2233: wow, it works and shows my individual tracking. Earlier I tried it with the normal DHL tracking site and it didn't work. Hopefully this finding will help other who haven't got their laptops yet.

  • So the ones who ordered earlier July 6 for me, the laptops are now soon to be in Australia, don’t see it taking 2 weeks to deliver now ? Aug 11 estimate

    • +1

Yeah, I check the updates yesterday and this morning and looks like shipment is already in transit from Singapore to Melbourne.
Don’t know what the process would be once they land in Australia, but if they don’t go through quality checks here then hopefully we should get it by the end of next week.

  • Does anyone know when is this deal expiring?

  • I ordered July 13th, DHL now has it and they expect to have it arrived tomorrow (greater Sydney region). So it will be less than 3 weeks delivery if it actually arrives as per expected.
Any recommendation on monitor cables for this? Would this be the best option or will it not work because it lacks thunderbolt? I want to use it to the best ability with my Xiaomi 34inch, I'm a bit confused about it.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/DisplayPort-CableCreation-Thunderb…

    • Did you get it today ?. My eta was today too but tracking hasn’t updated at all.

      • I have not got it yet :/
Let me know if any updates.

        Arrived

        • +1

Got mine too, swapped out main drive for a 2tb 970 evo plus, liking it so far

          • @ItsBraden: would that affects the warranty?

          • @ItsBraden: any deals on SSD ? what is the model of the SSD which they have shipped it with ?

  • Ordered July 25th, just checked the order details and it says November 15th ship for a Dec 2nd arrival. Really regretting not getting in sooner now, 4+ months is crazy.

    • +1

Don't worry, hopefully it will change or not, but the the actual delivery date would probably be much sooner.

We have just got ours, but we all had those crazy delivery date until a week before the actual delivery date.

      • when did you order it and when was the actual delivery date ?

        • +1

Ordered 6 Jul, received a couple of days ago

  • +1

I got my one delivered today. Ordered on 7th July delivered today in Melbourne.
@OP, any recommendations for changes required to factory settings, if any?

    • +2

The GPU of that laptop is OK but throttled. The rest of the specs of that laptop are below par compared to this deal.

Much slower quad-core Intel i5 CPU compared to the 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
Sub par 45% NTSC IPS 144hz screen vs 120hz QHD IPS 350nits screen
      8GB RAM vs 16GB RAM
Plastic chassis vs full aluminum chassis
      57wh battery vs 75wh battery

      • just found out that RTX3050 on lenovo one is also power limited to 35W :( (https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/IdeaPad/IdeaPad_5_P…)
still waiting for mine to check the actual performance.

seems like single core performance of 6c12t, i5-11400H is better than 5600H as boost clock is 4.5 GHz. (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-11400H-vs-AMD-…). But sample size at CPUbench mark is just one, so still early to get an accurate idea.

        • You also need to take into consideration that Tiger Lake is less power efficient then Ryzen 5000 and realistically needs to consume more power, for a negligible increase in single core performance.

          • @shellshocked: @shellshocked I have been trying to tag you in a comment down the bottom, but myself and @ashftc missed the boat on this deal. Any chance of negotiating another discount code? This model and configuration is about $200 more at the moment on Lenovo education store and being an ozbargainer paying this much more does not sit right with me :)

  • can we use this for the 2nd external display + Ethernet? any cheaper option?

Guys, got my laptop delivered today on Aug 11. Ordered on Jun 20.

    • I think yours shipped on july 28th, isn't it? that is pretty fast. What is the configuration?

      • +1

yes that's right. I had ordered cloud Grey version ryzen 7 5800, graphics 1600 one.

        • May be they had it in stock then. No news on my stromy grey one. How is the experience?

          • +1

@bazingaa: Laptop is very good. Sleek and slim with beautiful display. Blazing fast in terms of boot time(especially IR camera login) and performance.

Hi everyone. I ordered on 4th of August, and have gotten some order updates. Expected to ship end of October. Expected to arrive December 16th.

Was expecting 6-8 weeks shipping and then maybe 2 weeks shipping but delivery in December???

I'm going to get an update/refund but not sure if anyone had this happen to them…

    • Ordered on July 30th and Expected to arrive on December 16th.

  • Kicking myself for not getting this deal. Kept on snoozing. I hope this offer comes back soon :(

    • haha too much boaltware? lol, I usually do a clean install anyway as I don't trust thr preinsalled applications

  • @shellshocked I am late to this party but wanting to buy one. Has anyone had any luck buying one recently and getting a price close to this? Should I call them or try on chat? Maybe a chance of another deal now stock availability is improving?

Edit Can't seem to tag the OP with this question.

    • I am in the same boat.

      • We need to ask @shellshocked if we can organise another good deal like this one!

        • Thanks for asking him :) let's wait what he has to say

My pleasure, glad you found the info useful, which colour did you get?
        Storm or Cloud grey?

How easy is it for the paint to get scratched?

        • +1

I got "Storm Grey" as I selected RTX3050, paint seems good. I never had an AMD before and all these terms like PSP is new to me.

          • @bazingaa: I had ordered the Storm grey, but after watching the reviews I decided to get the cloud grey instead. So I called Lenovo to change my order, but they told me that they couldn't just change the order, had to cancel it and order again. I was told that I couldn't get the same deal as the promotion had ended.
I'm not in a rush, so I'll wait for the next promotion.

            • @KirKoloft: Did you find any issues from reviews ? I mean the reason behind changing of colour ?

            • +1

@KirKoloft: Interested in knowing why would you want to change the colour from storm grey? Any issues?

Btw, you can use the code "EDUCOMM" and that will drop the price to $1,505. That's about only $30 more than this deal. Just chose the $1,099 version, upgrade all the options and use that code.

        • Decided not to reinstall windows, no issues sofar

Not to worry guys, the only thing that I found was Storm grey being a finger print magnet. So not a big deal, I just liked the cloud grey better after seeing them side by side.
Thanks for the code, but I had chosen this model:

    Cloud Grey Colour Configuration $1294.01
    Ryzen 5800H
    16GB RAM
    512 SSD
    QHD 120Hz 100% sRGB 350 nits
    Nvidia 1650 4GB

    • You can still use the code though. Thanks for clarifying :)

  • I'm not in a rush, will wait for the new Macbooks with OLED displays to get released in Aus.

  • No Aus pricing for this yet.
This would be the perfect laptop for me.
    Upgradable RAM and SSD.

All that for AU$2083 in Singapore.

  • did anyone play games with ray tracing? just checked Quake 2 RTX version and it is pretty awesome, totally different than the non-rtx version.

    • +1

first thing I tried too, some of the reflections were impressive! I doubt the 3050 will be too playable with ray tracing enabled on anything more modern though…

      • Played BF5 at 1920 * 1200 DXR ON with default video settings, getting 40-60 FPS, sometime dropping a bit, 1280*800 seems better :D
DLSS option is greyed out but don't know why

  • Is anybody getting bad video and audio sync on this laptop? I got mine and the majority of the time the audio is a second ahead of the video and this happens on both headphones and the inbuilt speakers

    • This issue sounds unlikely to be with the laptop but more with the video. Is it happening on all videos you watch? What is the source of the video? youtube, plex, locally stored, etc
