  • +3

Got one recently and paid the same price ..pretty decent phone I must say ..

    • +13

What version of Android does it run?

      • +35

Negged for asking a question. Ozbargain is full of lunatics.

        • +12

If you click the link it says "This smartphone runs on the Android 10 operating system."

          • +9

@Falbium: @RSmith And I'm negged for answering lol

              • -3

@djmm: You think a reply of my reply will be negged?

        • +9

I mean you could have spent 10 seconds googling it or reading the ad page instead of taking the time to ask on here, waiting for a reply and then complaining about being negged, lol. But you are right, some people on here are lunatics, I've seen people get downvoted to oblivion and ridiculed for asking similar questions without a female profile photo.

          • +5

            @iben0:

or reading the ad page instead

You mean like 400 mAh battery as per the ad page?

        • Really, no update for this phone to Android 11 at all/yet?

  • Thanks OP

…'With its 400 mAh battery' assuming they mean 4000mAh? Lool

Looks decent…but must not be tempted :D

      Nah they meant 400 :)

  • $197 at OW only a couple of months ago

  • +2

    This deal looks pretty good.

Anyone knows if there is currently a better burner phone deal alternative to this?

    • -5

      🤦‍♀️

      • What? Please use words

        • +7

He means is there a better phone that you can use to make drug deals or throw over the walls of prison, with the large screen it may be too heavy to do so.

          • @Franc-T: Ok thanks, I am clearly a noob on this.

What sort of burner phones models do people tend to use?

            • +3

@ilovefullprice: Its a joke, burner refers to a phone that you use when you dont want to be traced or just a cheap one to take overseas or something.

              • +2

@Franc-T: This was actually a serious question that I had and it’s for the latter - take overseas or as a backup phone in case my current one dies.

Currently do you know if there’s a better alternative deal to this?

            • +2

@ilovefullprice: u mean the ones that have Anon pre-loaded?

          • +2

            @Franc-T:

. throw over the walls of prison, with the large screen it may be too heavy to do so

            Use drone

    • Keep it on the downlo Stringer…..

      • I guess the answer is no there are no burner phones currently better than this deal..

        • +3

Don't choose a smartphone as a burner - avoid feature phones too - anything with GPS is a no-no.

          • @Ruckmauler: Ok thanks, I am clearly a noob on this.

What sort of burner phones models do people tend to use?

            • +2

@ilovefullprice: Use flip phones but only to ring and hang up. Then whoever you're calling will call you back on an instant messenger on a laptop connected via VPN.

          • +2

@Ruckmauler: @Ruckmauler hello, this is Clem Fandango, can you hear me?

      • Jake Stringer?

    • +1

Heard on the news there's this encrypted phone you could use that might be suited for your needs

      • When I said burner I really meant as a back up phone in case my current one dies.

None of those illegal stuff shit.

        • "Ok google what is a burner phone"

A “burner phone” is a cheap, prepaid mobile phone that you can destroy or discard when you no longer need it. In popular media, criminals often use burner phones to evade detection by authorities. You might use a burner phone for privacy reasons, as a last resort, or during an emergency.

          • +1

@BadBreath: this has always been my idea of a burner phone. a phone that would make it hard to track who used it. perfect for the seedy types. you know. drug dealers, armed robbers, bank robbers and the like.

          • +1

@BadBreath: Yes clearly my blunder on what a burner phone is

      • Does the encrypted have AN0M on it 😂😂😂

        • the perfect encryption.

      Can it run Quake?

  • +7

Got this when it was ~$200 on Amazon

    Pros
big (similar dimension to Note 10+, may be a disadvantage for some people)
    Pure android one experience
screen refresh rate seems slower than A5 (tearing noticeable when scrolling down in Chrome quickly - could be my gamer eyes though)
2 day battery , around 4000mAh (for me)
    dual SIM

    Con
camera worse than Samsung A5 (2015 version I think it was)

I think it's great for value for $97

    • do I need one?

  • Plenty in stock at Mittagong, NSW

Battery deterioration is bad on this.

  • Is this better than the Realme C3? This one has more RAM but the Realme has a bigger battery.

  • thanks OP. Picked up the last one from Penrith - Sydney.

  • Is this an upgrade over a 6.1? Or just same class newer device?

    • Stick to your 6.1 over this one.

  • OMG the security updates can only be applied one at a time and it seems to be per month.

Starts at December ends in may so looks like you need to do 6,7 in a row.

Indeed. The fingerprint scanner is sluggish and sometimes it takes a while for the phone to wake up from standby. Also, the notification light is in the power button.

      • yeah saw the notification light. havent made my mind up about it. Annoying that you cant seem to turn it off.. and what is the impact on battery life?

        • my guess is the impact to battery life is very small.

FYI all, this phone sometimes switches to a completely black screen when on a call, so you can't hang up etc. My 4.2, 5.3 and 5.1 have all done it.

You need to swipe your finger across the light sensor near the ear phone for the screen to light up.

    • +3

      middle finger?

    • Might be a setting or app to keep screen awake during call

      • From what I know it's a global issue from reading the Nokia forums. I'd kick myself if it was just a setting.

        • Could try turning off proximity sensor or use an automation app such as MacroDroid to setup a macro that only turns off proximity sensor during calls.

          https://community.phones.nokia.com/discussion/60614/screen-t…

          • @relentless: It worked thanks! not sure how safe using the phone in dev mode, also, they have removed the framework settings in which the proximity sensor setting is located.

  • +1

I have this phone and other than an abominable fingerprint reader and speaker (only at low volume), this is a pretty darn good deal for $97.

  • Just picked one up at Officeworks Ferntree Gully, 4 left now.

  • Wait, Nokia is still making mobiles?

    • +1

      apparrently so.

so with any luck we might see windows 11 mobiles.

      • -1

Yeah, I would love to have a smartphone that can be used as a hammer XD
