  • Does anyone know how much to install this system for a house? (eg - electrician to wire the cables and install the units from NBN box)?

    • probably around $400 to $500
try using airtasker and get quote

    • I got that done in Melbourne recently for 350AUD 5 camera setup.

      • Care to share details? Jim's Security quoted $600 for 4 cameras and NVR

        • sure, that guy has a page on FB with the name "TJ security and cabling". Yes, I did some research as well found out that installation is more expensive than the camera itself.

    • I installed it myself for my business (office) took me about good 1 hour to set up with minimum DIY knowledge. It was simple plug and play most of the connecting, I didn't need to do any wiring to my MBN Box (will depend on which version tho) hence I can't justify the cost of $300-$500 installation.

      • This particular camera has PoE which is Power over Ethernet cable. That is why I was asking about wiring job.

This just requires a single CAT5e (or better) per camera that connect at the back of the nvr. Cables are usually included as part of the kit, not expensive if you need to get longer or replacement units. All connectors are standard, so installation is basically cable routings and fixing the cameras to the wall/ceilings/etc. I did this all myself last week. Personally saw no need to get an electrician, but could be useful the cable routings get complicated, or you want to get fancy and install plug-in panels etc.

@klowdz: Only issue is that your insurance might reject your claim if your place burnt down. It's ridiculous and knowing this did mine by myself.

        • That's correct, PoE which means you provide the power by simply plugging it in to the Ethernet cable (CAT5E or better, provided in the pack) to the camera and then you run the cable around to the other end to the back of the NVR plug it in, that's pretty much it. No electricity wiring required at all.

          • @Ziaina: Do you have to drill as the cable has to be extended from NBN box to external wall? This part is a bit difficult for me to install by myself as my NBN box is inside of my in the storage room.

            • @arctan: I guess this can be the challenging part if you have the NBN box somewhere hard to get access to, then this becomes more like networking issue. I didn't have to go through the 'network cabling' as I was initially quoted on simple installation cost for about $400 on top of the actual product cost WITHOUT the network cabling done by the professional.

            • @arctan: maybe you could also get a router out of the NBN (one drilling whole maybe?) and then place somewhere what more accessible then each of the cables all go in to the NBN?

have Reolink sister at home it called Annke, 1 of the camera off within 1 year and the replacement will cost $150 Reolink brand - so I left it with 1 offline cam.

I dont recommend this if you wish to have durable decent system for your home.

    • Claim it on warranty….

Beware these seem to be the older non AI cameras. The vehicle and people detection may be of use to you on the newer models.

    • Do any of the wifi one have the AI deteciton?

  • The only issue I had with this recently installed for my office is the flickering..

What a bargain! Received two quotations for crime safe fly screen and normal fibre one for my house, the different is 2k+, with this deal, I definitely go with fibre one as this security system can does the same job. LOL

Camera can stop people entering your house?

      • Both can reduce the risk by scaring strangers away from your house, reality is you can’t cover all your window by using security screen, as it’s against fire safety law, that’s mean, strangers can easily enter your house by breaking your windows.

        • We have crimsafe on all street facing windows where there is easy access. Windows facing backyard and second storey have flyscreens.

    • This isn't comparable to safety screen doors at all lol
