    • I actually got it for $21.39 thanks to this. :)

    • Any idea why it didn't show that on Camelcamelcamel?

      • I think it's because it was one of those 'discounted price shown in cart' promotions

One of the most creative and funny animated shows ever. I personally think Futurama is much more creative than Rick and Morty, although a lot slower paced.

    • +3

      I love both! :)

    • +5

      Agree

      Futurama > Rick & Morty

    • +3

Futurama and Rick & Morty are very different shows, different types of comedy and sci-fi.

    • +3

I do really enjoy Rick and Morty by sometimes it tries a little too hard. Futurama I think was a little more refined in its humour. When Rick and Morty hits the mark it's brilliant. Often though, it's those times when it's on point that it reminds me most of Futurama.

      • Rick actually points that out in one episode

  • +13

Is it available on VHS ? I'm not ready to splash out on a DVD player just yet

    • Copies are our there, I managed to find it on Betamax

  • +1

Bought it for $21.99 during Prime Day sales last month. Realised afterwards it was already on Disney Plus.

The problem with 4K tv is that it makes all the dvds look bad even with good upscaling processors. Full HD blu ray discs are still perfectly fine though.

    • I’m assuming you mean larger TV’s, being a 4K tv won’t have any affect on the quality looking poor as apposed to watching it on a 720p/1080p TV. Or do you just mean you’re used to better quality stuff now and struggle to go back?

      • Actually it’s mainly the non-scanline TV’s (or large TVs) that make them look worse (i.e. all modern TV’s / monitors). When watching interlaced shows or low resolution video, it looks far better when viewed on an old CRT TV set than on a modern TV, due to pixel display vs scan-line. There are software solutions to some extent, but not by default and still not quite the same.

That said, later seasons of Futurama are non-interlaced / Hi-Res.

  • Had it in cart and for some reason it made me reenter my saved CC details and sold out by the time I entered :(

    • This happens when you input a new name or address but your CC is already saved.

I would say its funny how they have these massive discounts as soon as they're available to stream online.

But despite Star Trek all being on Netflix, the DVDs are damn high. so I'm just talking talking BS folks

    • Its not hard to understand. They are clearing out stock so the streaming service becomes the only way to watch, meaning people then have to subscribe.

      • Well plenty of shows out there who refused to release complete series DVD and only sell them in volumes of 4 episodes per disc. So they ca get rekt, ill stream them anyday.

Cap: You want the rest of the Sham-Pag-In?
    Leela: No, it's pronounced champagne
    Cap: OH GOD NO!!!!!

My friends look at me weirdly when I tell them "are you drinking Sham-Pag-In?… obviously they are uncultured.

    • +1

I love that episode, absolutely golden.

  • Not showing as being available anymore for me? Not sure why you'd want the whole series on DVD, when the last 4 seasons were available in HD and are on blu-ray.

    • +1

Because its less the $1 a disc.

      • +1

For me, it could be free, and I still wouldn't choose it over a HD version of the same thing. Plus with DVD you get issues with the audio being sped-up by 4% with PAL. Blu-ray/HD has no such issue.

        • But you own it. With a subscription it can be removed or edited at any time.

          • @User50301: I'm talking about the blu-ray discs.

            • @Mondorock: Where can you buy the blu-ray discs for all seasons and features for less than $1 a disc?

        • +2

issues with the audio being sped-up by 4% with PAL

You mean picture and audio, and also you can't really notice that unless you really want to.

It's an animated comedy, not Kubrick.

        • +1

Maybe they wanted to record in PAL to begin with so the actors spoke 4 percent slower in recording so when you watch in PAL, the sound is just right.

OR The show might even finish at a completely different time to the audio and you can already be listening to the next episode while watching the first. Time saver!

Sometimes the glass is half full too my friend!

        • I actually never knew that, but it makes sense due to the framerate difference between ntsc and pal. thank you!

I also agree that I would rather a blue-ray, but hey it's cheap and clearly others don't mind so all the power to them.

          • +1

@b2dz: Back in the days of DVD I would always try to get region 1 NTSC even though the resolution was lesser, the higher framerate and correct audio made it more desirable for me. I still have my R1 Futurama DVDs for the first 4 seasons.

  • Was $21.99 on Prime day last month.

  • thank you OP

  • Ah I miss Futurama. That last episode was really something special :’)

    • I wish I could say the same for The Simpsons.

      • the Simpsons have finished now?

        • No, I wish it would finish. Its been going on for way too long.

  • +1

I remember paying over $60 just for season 1 back in January 2002 from Amazon UK! Futurama was one of the first TV shows of any kind to be released on DVD - it was still a very new concept at the time.

    • I remember paying a dollar a season for all of them (except 7 or 8, I forget which) at Cashies years ago too. Crazy!

  • +1

Out of stock? Bite my shiny metal a$$

    • Eat my shorts!
      Okay. Mmm… shorts.

  • One of my faves. Have the UK versions s1-s4, can't play them here, can't bear to bin them.

    • Get a laser blu-ray player for $50 on ebay, region free, solved

      • +1

I have a digital version, the case art is pretty cool though.

  • Zapp Brannigan reads Trump quotes.

One of the reviews suggested looking up these. Don't know how I missed them, but worth the watch :D

  • Missed this :( but good news it's on Disney Plus! Rewatching for the second time now.

I managed to grab one as it said 1 stock left. Indiana Jones'd it.

  • +1

Back in stock! Was going to post this but it points me at this listing. Will let a mod know

  • I'm holding off with the hope that they will do a remastered HD or 4K.

  • Back in stock y'all!
