This is the cheapest price to date according to camelcamelcamel.

I was recently looking for a small-sized soundbar as I had a $250 JB Hi-fi voucher and came across this speaker and ended up purchasing it. In general it has some pretty good reviews across sites and it was a huge upgrade from the sound from my TV, particularly for dialogue which I was focused on as I live in an apartment and a deep bass sound wasn't my priority.

The same speaker is also available at the below stores if you want to try and get further discounts using gift cards/vouchers/cashback:
JB Hi-Fi - $399 (Price Match $297) - Call through to get a price match to Amazon
Bose Store - $299.95 (Expired)
Myer - $319
Videopro - $297

Features
Hear your TV better - Designed with simplicity in mind, the Bose TV Speaker is a small soundbar that clarifies speech and is a simple fix for better TV sound
Wide, natural sound - Two angled full range drivers deliver a more realistic, spatial audio experience for overall better TV sound from a small soundbar
Enhanced dialogue - This TV speaker is designed to specifically focus on clarifying and elevating vocals and pronunciation
Bluetooth TV speaker - Pair your device to this Bluetooth soundbar to wirelessly stream your favourite music and podcasts
Simple setup - A single connection from this compact soundbar to the TV via an optical audio cable (included) or an HDMI cable (sold separately) has you up and running in minutes

Great work on your first deal. Very thorough. Thanks for contributing to the community.

Also, regardless of how good your deal is, you can always expect someone to come in with disparaging comments like "I saw it cheaper in 1992 at a garage sale" make sure you disregard these people.

    • +2

      Very well said

    • +21

Cheaper if you make it yourself from a rubber band and an old mini disc player, Macgyver style.

"Don't thank me, thank the Moon's gravitational pull"

      Something something GPU deals

"Just wait 3 years and then buy it. HOLD!!!11!"

        • +2

          Ahaha.. Yep
          "Hoooold!1!!one!!eleven!!1"

          Great 1st Deal OP!

    • +6

      Thanks MrFizz, did my best!

      Appreciate the advice

    • +5

This is one of the highest-rated comments I've seen on OzBargain, and what's even more impressive is that this wasn't even a very popular post… You actually almost got the same amount of upvotes on this comment compared to the post itself :)

      • +5

I think the sentiment resonates with many…

        • +2

Yup, and it seems like "many" have actually bothered to go and upvote this comment - Which is really nice of everyone haha

          • +1

@Zackeroo: Call me cynical, but I think a lot of people vote purely because the majority have.

            • @magic8ballgag: Nah that's a fact, you're not wrong at all. Funny enough, I had that same thought as I clicked upvote on this dude's comment 😆

    • +5

We need more people like you in our community to be welcoming. Most people don’t realise this site is founded based on community sharing and we should be kinder to each other! Well done OP

    • +7

I saw it cheaper in 1992 at a garage sale

      • +1

Oh come on, you neggers! Go out and buy a sense of humour.

        • cant go out. lock down order by Gladys. its not essential.

          /s

          • @xoom: Would argue it is ;) Especially if you (generic) are from NSW…

    • -1

but i really saw it cheaper the other day!!!!

  • -3

Why is JB $100 more than Bose directly

    • +5

bacause they want to make (more) money. just business being business.

    • +4

      RRP is $399, 2

$299 is a sale price at Bose, Amazon probably matched it

      • This was my guess and what got me looking at the reviews on it a bit more!

    • +13

      JB you’ve done it again

  • +2

good work with the details mate … thumbs up :)

    • Thanks super-zero, appreciate it!

  • +133

I saw it cheaper in 1992 at a garage sale.

    • +2

Well why didn't you buy it?

      • +15

No compatible device for this back in 1992.

        • +2

Scalp it to the HDMI working group for insane mark up. Think of all those high yeild BMW's you could afford.

          • @This Guy: back in 1992 HDMI working group was 10yrs away, and these boys and gals were busy at arcade twiddling their thumbs.

      • Back then they only sold gold plated hdmi which was the same price for this.

      • because heforgothissocks.

      • Where did it say he didn't buy one?

      • +1

        Yes

  • +1

    Awesome first post!!!

  • +1

I got excited thinking it was the Bose Smart Soundbar 300.

    • I was looking at this one too but just out of my price range!

  • +4

I’ve got this bose tv speaker for my pc and added the bose bass module 500 and they’re freakin perfect!

    • That's awesome - if I ever think of adding a bass unit, I'll look at this one!

    • Is the wireless/bluetooth connection good? I have other Bose products and the wifi connection doesn't work well. thanks.

  • Is this better than the Bose Solo 5?

    • +4

Can confirm it is. Solo 5 sounds more like mono-sound channel. This one however has two angled drivers.

  • +13

    I don't get it 3 stores $297 to $300 . How is $297 a great bargain ?
    Maybe try the 3 cheapest $400 , $450 and yours is $297 .

  • +2

I can make this cheaper using a rubber band and an old minidisc player 😂😂

But seriously, these are pretty decent for the price.

    • -5

You misunderstood. He replied to MrFizz, he was being sarcastic regarding to the fact the OP was going to be criticized.

      • Wait, I misunderstood? You sure?

        • +1

          Opss sorry

          • @Chridim: Nothing to be sorry about.

It's just some words on the internet.

            Have an awesome day!

  • Is this better than creative stage system which comes with sub and is $150?

I like bose speakers for their bass, whats the sound bar like in that space?

    • They don't have a separate subwoofer but you can connect one. For purely the bass, I probably would go with a different soundbar/speaker!

  • 5cm tall? This thing is tiny! is it really worth the $300?
I have a YAS-108B and like it but yeah the dialogue. Anyone know how they compare?

Wow so many + votes. This seems like the normal retail price

    • I've heard good things about Yamaha soundbars and were considering one before I picked up this one. My main focus was definitely for the dialogue hence my pick but
for the price range of soundbars you're looking at, I don't think it'd make a huge difference.

      • thanks Cameron. Yeah i was confused to what I was missing as I can get 2 Yamaha 108Bs for this price.
        Still researching, watching Youtube reviews

        • Thanks, keep us posted on your next upgrade!

    • Same, I have the YAS-108 too and want to know how this compares.

    • +5

I went from the last generation Bose Solo 15 TV speaker (this model which has deeper bass/etc: https://www.whathifi.com/us/bose/solo-15-soundstage/review ) to Yamaha YAS-108B.. The YAS-108B is better.. Probably about 20-30% better in sound stage, clarity, etc. The BOSE is excellent for those who just use TV speakers, but compared to Yamaha, it's not as good (in my opinion).

      • Just to clarify, do you mean the Yamaha is better for music source vs tv/movie source? Cheers

        • +3

When watching movies, documentaries and playing games, I found it better. The Yamaha surround when enabled makes a larger sound stage and is more crisp. But do remember the Solo 15 is an older generation model so they may have improved it since… In my opinion if you already have the Yamaha YAS-107/108B there's no need to upgrade. If you have neither or looking for something smaller, this Bose is a good deal. (Bose is 59cm long whilst the Yamaha is 89cm! So about 30cm longer…

According to this page, the Bose TV speaker is 50 watts output - https://www.amazon.in/Bose-838309-5100-TV-Speaker/dp/B088VYX…
          The Yamaha YAS-108B is 120w - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/yamaha-120w-soundbar-yas-108b

          • @noshopping: Thanks for the detailed reply! This Bose is reviewed really well on US Amazon etc

      • thanks heaps mate. Exactly I knew I'd regret this buy. Will wait for another Yamaha $150ish deal!

    • +1

The Bose is clearer, sharper, better for dialogue, better in a smaller room like a bedroom and can only be expanded with the more expensive Bose subwoofer, around $500.

The Yamaha has a wider sound stage, better in a larger room like the lounge and can be expanded with just about any subwoofer, a used good match would cost $100-200 off Gumtree.

I never used my YAS-108 in wall-mounted, forward facing orientation so always found it a little muffled.

They’re not really in the same price league but the $800 Bose setup is pretty good.

  • +1

These little sound bars are compatible with the bass module 500 & 700 and the surround speakers work great too.

    • +2

The 500 module is like $500 … that makes it $800 setup which is crazy expensive.

      • We currently have the 500 sub for $490. Great little thumper. Surrounds under $400 ands it’s a whole setup for not much

  • +2

I have no idea on price but this deserves an upvote for the write up!!!

  • +4

Why so many upvotes? Is this the eneloop of soundbars? (Anyone knows if that will go well with a LG c9)

  • +1

Decent product, my local jb hi fi were super flexible on sound bars today, got a Sony HT S350 for $200. Mad steal imo but wish it had voice control

    • +1

I can live with it without the voice control. Appreciate if you can tell us how/where to get that price. Maybe a copy of a receipt for a price match would be excellent.

    • Great price considering it's going for $295.

  • -2

    Sonos arc

  • +1

Get a 2nd hand 5.1 system and I bet you it will sound better.

    For example:

    1) Acoustic Audio AA321B Mountable Indoor Speakers 400 Watts Black Bookshelf Pair -$54
    2) 2nd hand 5.1 receiver - ~$100
    3) 2nd hand Subwoofer - ~$50

    Total: 3x(1) + (2) + (3) = ~ $312

    • +5

Yes but I live in a small apartment with very limited space for my TV setup. This little thing stays under my TV and just disappears for its size.

      • Same reason I grabbed it!

  • +12

This has got to be the most upvotes I've ever seen for an average deal.

    • +4

first post. we are being nice. subsequent post by the poster. we sharpen the pitchforks.

      • +8

I understand that it's nice to be nice but if all of these votes lead to people buying a soundbar at a very average price then you could argue that the gesture has back fired.

  • This or 2x HomePod mini?

    • You’d be disappointed with HomePod’s latency. They are good for music but for visual content, nah.

      • +1

If running an ATV there is no latency visible as it compensates, but for gaming the latency is awful.

  • Interested but wondering how the connection would work. I use an Apple TV with my tv. How would I connect this up? Cna I use the optical audio out from the Apple TV to this directly?

    • You can go via HDMI ARC or optical from your TV to the Bose.

  • +4

Very average soundbar according to RTINGS: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/bose/tv-speaker

  • Might give it a miss
    I know size isn’t everything, but…
It’ll look comical below anything bigger than a 42” screen

  • +3

Good price in comparison to RRP but the Yamaha range, even the most basic, kills this for features, sound quality and price

    • Agree.
The YAS-109 is $270 on Amazon.
I have one and absolutely love it.
Fantastic sound quality for the price.

    • +2

I was stuck with JB Hifi due to a gift card which only had the SR-B20AB which didn't have amazing reviews.

For the Yamaha Range like 108/109 or better, if you want more bass or features I would definitely go for that. The key point for me was size and dialogue as I live in an apartment and don't want to disturb my neighbours so worked for me!

      • +1

I have the YAS-108 and honestly would only look to upgrade if I get a dedicated entertainment room or have the space to warrant a sub.

It has more than enough oomph and since Yamaha have upgraded the mobile app, config is much easier. I don't even know where the remote is, control is all via the TV and EQ tweaks via mobile.

First time posting - please be gentle.

    Against the rules REEEEEEEEE

  • I don’t think this does Atmos.

    • Yep, you're right. Definitely go with a Yamaha if you wanted Atmos/more bass.

  • can you use this a computer speaker?

    • Someone above said they use this for their computer and given the size, think itd work well!

      • +1

I was about to do this but then went for the Bose Soundlink Mini II. Didn't check but is ok when $200ish and can double up as portable. Also has mic for calls etc. Have not tested on a zoom meeting yet.
