  • $12-$19 postage.

    • Thanks for informing, postage been revised-it should be From $8.75. Someone put the wrong weight on this product.

  • i need to upgrade my old modem/router which is on wireless G…

What would be a good product to go with it as a repeater with ports? ie. I want to create a wireless N bridge and hardwire to AV devices…

Looks like some ppl had issues with connectivity and speeds especially with consoles.

If I was to get a N modem router, I would get billion 7800n. My G netgear provided by Optus 4 years ago is still going strong

    • +1

Except the 7800N isn't dual band, which is very, very handy in apartment complexes where there are a dozen 2.4ghz routers around you.

      • 7800n is too old

lots and lots of bad reports on the 7800n on whirlpool too

there's new firmware for the netgear but who knows if it fixes the problem?

        • It may be old, but its pretty dang hard to find a more competent modem and UI/wireless/etc are very solid too.

        • I read lots and lots of good reports. It's old but tested.
I don't need dual band, and the guy that asked didn't specify his situation.

What bad reports are there on the 7800n?

        • I read sometimes ago about too much heating issues.

        • There is always the 7800NL if 7800N is too old lol.

        • there's lots of bad reports simply because lots of whirlpoolers use the. Its by far the most popular router on whirlpool

  • i assume its dual band simultaneous?

    • Yes and no:

"Netgear's modem/router presents a few oddities we've not seen before. You cannot select 20MHz or 40MHz bands. You can transmit on 2.4GHz only, but you can't transmit on 5GHz only — you have to have both radios going if you want the higher frequency. If you are running 5GHz, you'll have to be content with the 2.4GHz running at 802.11g. It is, in a word, bizarre."

That's from a C-Net review in 2010, so there may have been a firmware upgrade that enabled "full" simultaneous broadband.

Deal breaker for me is that it only has 10/100 ethernet ports, not gigabit.

  • This router is still using the "draft 2.0" 802.11n standard, not the full 802.11n standard.

The full 802.11n standard was ratified in 2009, so why don't Netgear use that? "Draft 2.0" gear is supposed to be compatible with the full 802.11n standard, but there must be something extra in the full standard that was left out in the draft standard.
