  • Who else is still waiting for their M1 macbooks from wireless 1 deal? 🥲

    • +1

I'm waiting for M2 Macbook Air. My little XPS13 is enough for me until then :D

    • +1

Not waiting on MacBook but am waiting on an iPad Pro 11" from that deal, over 3 weeks now…
Sadly doesn't look like TGG have included the iPad Pro in this 10% deal.

If you can’t wait op you are correct, great deal. I’m hanging in there until January to get a new Macbook with free AirPods from the education store.

    • Free AirPods and hopefully 5% cash rewards

Works out to be approx $1100 for a 256gb air if you factor value of the AirPods at $170 which is likely to get after selling them

    • Is this a common deal around January for the education store?

      • +1

Yes, the year before I believe it was beats? Last January I bought the basic air m1 and upgraded to AirPods Pro. I paid $1590 for both MacBook Air and the AirPods Pro.

$1282 from OW if you use their 5% price beat.

  • Can you do the price beat online somehow, or does it have to be over the phone ?

    • +1

Has be over the phone and card payment

    • In-store/over the phone. But doesn't work on their online store

      • I spent 20+ min on hold - call never got answered. Cunning plan from OW - never answer the phone !

I'll cop the loss of 5% saving to avoid going in store at the moment…

        • +2

Looks like OW have dropped their price, so no price match available.

  • Contemplating on a 256gb air/pro + external SSD or just fork out the extra for a 512gb for convenience.

Seems like the new models will likely be Pro models and priced accordingly, so the air is still a solid buy at the moment

    • I'd get the Air instead of the Pro and fork out the extra for 512gb, which also give GPU bump. That's what I'm considering for replacing a 2011 MBP anyway.

Tempted to just wait it out for another few months, but I reckon new 14" Pro will be ~$800 more than 13" Air which is more than I should spend. Also need to replace an ipad 2 in near future so gotta leave some money for that.

On a side note, just bought a Mac Mini recently and added this HDD enclosure Hub to the base, it’s great. Adds a little extra space externally but discretely.

Mac Mini Hub, Oxlaw Type-C… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09722VKS1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_s…

If only it wasn't SATA inside…

      • Yeah but for $70 the convenience is fine

    • Is that the same footprint as the M1 mini?

      • Yep, perfect fit, only thing is it’s not recessed so Mini sits with a 3mm gap. You can get a recessed style hub that doesn’t have a midden 2.5 inch HDD. This one fits a SSD perfectly but I have a traditional HDD in there sits a little higher

        • Thanks 👍

  • Im in Sydney and I only have JB hifi close by. I want to match the price (which should be easy via phone) but I want to pay using my TCN giftcards which I cant use more than 5 online. Does anyone know if I can physically pay for the item at the store as part of the Click and Collect?

  • dammit. Officeworks is out of stock of the cheapest new imac. Cant price match

  • My old man wants a M1 with 512gb. I'm guessing an M1 Air would be the best value? He currently has last year's mini and wants something portable.

What's the absolute cheapest way to get one. Price match this and use discounted JB gift cards?

Any issue / limit on number of gift cards that can be used at TGG, JB's or whoever has the best gift card deal.

Also, can you secure it as a click an collect or similar, then buy the giftcards, then go and pay?

    Cheers

    • 512GB M1 Air is probably the best way to go. The Pro is only faster if the CPU is thrashed for longer periods of time, but for "normal" use the Air looks plenty.

      • The 512gb has the same core count, it's only the 256gb that only has 7 core

  • Officeworks have the same price now, so can't price match anymore

  • Anyone know how long this offer is for please?

    • Says 28th on their website

The MacBook Pro 14" has been coming out in the 2-3 months for the last 2 years lol

    • True that lol

  • Deeply regret ordering through TGG

They had it as in stock when ordered online; after a week, the status on my account page had it as 'ready for pickup', despite it being a home delivery

I called them up, and they said that they were waiting for more stock

The account page then changed to 'Backordered' from the date of my phone call

Seeing other retailers with similar discounts, I called them up to ask for a refund, which they said required an in-person trip with photo ID

Absolute rubbish given that they could just refund the original online card transaction…
