Chivas Regal Extra 13YO Scotch Whisky 700ml + 3000 flybuys Points (Worth $15) $58 @ First Choice Liquor

1740

This whisky is listed at the normal price of $71.

Currently, it's on special down to $58.

In conjunction with the 3000 Bonus flybuys Points (Worth $15) with $50 Online Spend on Selected Items offer, your new NET price is $58 - $15 = $43.

Add on to that the 20% Cashback ($25 Cap) @ ShopBack (now expired) offer (calculated on the ex-GST value). The ex-GST amount would be ~$52.72, so the cashback would be ~$10.55 and your new NET price is $43 - ~$10.55 = ~$32.45.

With your normal 58 flybuys points, that's an extra 29¢ saving. Pay with your Coles MasterCard, that's another 29 flybuys points (14.5¢).

Total best price I can get it down to is:

$71 → $58 → $43 → ~$32.45 → ~$32.01 (~54.9% discount)

      Chivas Regal 13yr 700ml Whisky - First Choice Liquor ($32.41 - $58) YMMV

      $71 —> $58 —> $43 —> $32.45 —> $32.41

I mean, title is a bit click-baity. Here I was hopeful of a $30-odd nice scotch, and next thing I know I'm three levels deep into redemptions and cash-backs and loyalty points programs…

I still applaud the effort 👏

      • Hence the YMMV comment haha

        • +1

+10% discount if you are a coles team member (doubled discount)

        • Yeah, it's gold! First time seeing that in a title… and I loved it 😁

  • Limited to 1 bottle only for the 3000 bonus points on the same bottle?

  • "Add on to that your normal 58 flybuys points, that's an extra 2.9c saving. Pay with your coles mastercard, that's an extra 29 flybuys points (1.5 cents)"

    58 flybuys points is 29c 👍🙂

    • Oh wait maybe!!

Liked for the post, but wouldn't touch ShopBack with a 10 foot pole.

For anyone that doesn't know, the contents of this bottle are not 13 years old.

There may be some 13 year old contents in the bottle, or the whiskey may have the characteristics of a 13 year old whiskey.

First Choice are incorrect in advertising it as 13 years old.

    • Thanks.. I got fooled by First Choice..I wouldn't have bought this if I knew this before. Looking at the bottle, it doesn't say anything about 13 years…sounds like it's same scam as Johnnie walker 'double black's where they don't have to age the whiskey for 12 years to make profit.

      • +1

I bought it and the bottle does say 13 years. As finnybro has mentioned below, something wrong with the product image Online.

        • -1

As I said that doesn't mean the entire product is aged 13 years.

Selectively ageing* classic Chivas whisky for 13 years in Oloroso sherry casks
*A portion of this blended Scotch whisky has been matured in Oloroso sherry casks.

Chivas does not claim 13 years

@spaceflight: An age statement refers to the age of the youngest whisky in the bottle (hey, a link about Chivas!) All of the whisky in this Chivas is at least 13 years old. Some is probably older - that's just blending.

"Not all of this was matured in Oloroso sherry casks" is not the same thing as "not all of this whisky was aged for at least 13 years".

Chivas does not claim 13 years

Except, you know, right on the front of the bottle where it says AGED 13 YEARS.

            • @GrueHunter: Lol noob alcoholics, yup 13 is the minimum, that’s what’s why there is no age statement in something like johnnie blue, it’s got a blend of very old and very young whiskeys

    • +4

I would say the picture is wrong on first choice.

The picture isn't wrong, the picture you linked to is misleading.

        • This whisky is 13 years old. "Selectively ageing* classic Chivas whisky for 13 years in Oloroso sherry casks
*A portion of this blended Scotch whisky has been matured in Oloroso sherry casks." means that not all of it is aged in olorosso, but all of it is 13 years old. The SWA prevents any age statement that isn't of the youngest component of the bottle.

          • -1

            @finnybro:

The SWA prevents any age statement that isn't of the youngest component of the bottle

That's why Chivas does not claim 13 years

CHIVAS EXTRA 13 BLENDED SCOTCH WHISKY
            https://www.chivas.com/en-AU/our-collection/chivas-regal-ext…

If they do not mention years it means that it isn't really that many years old.

It contains some whiskey that has been aged for 13 years in Oloroso sherry casks.

That does not mean the entire bottle is 13 years old.

    • +1

This is a 13yo whisky. The stock image is correct, but it is the old label. The new label shows the number 13 in big font and the label design is more colourful.

Regardless, this is a very poor example of a sherry cask whisky. It has a low proportion of sherried whisky in the blend, just going by taste alone.

  • Not interested in the liquor (Am a run and gin guy myself) but +1 on the quality of this deal!

    • +2

wonder if the typo was run and gym or rum and gin?

      • Why not running with a gin?

      • No it was actually rumpelstiltskin and Glockenspiel.

  • Nice one, I also used this in conjunction with FlyPay which is another 2000 bonus points (and it said I could redeem points, but no option was there to redeem any points sadly)

How long does shopback take to track usually?

  • +2

Just received a flybuys offer (targeted?) that can be stacked I suppose:
8000 points when you spend $50 or more each week for 2 consecutive weeks.

  • I also had CBA Rewards - Spend $75 get $15 cash back

  • How do I receive the flybuys points of 3k? At the checkout, I have used my flyby member no at the promo text box and it says invalid?

    • maybe you have used the wrong fb number. check your phusical card at the back, i think dont enter the one under barcode

    • put your FB number into your profile personal details

not as a promo code number

      HTH

  • +3

I wouldn't automatically assume shopback cashback as a discount..it's never guaranteed and you end up waiting a few months and forget to check so you may not end up getting it.

    • I've never once had an issue with it but have heard others have

  • Free delivery?

    • Over $150. Poor one. Boozebud give free over 70

    • over $150

  • Out of stock at my local :(

  • Woolworths Rewards offer

Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky 1l $96.00

    Chivas Regal OFFER-26.00
    TOTAL (1 item) $70.00

    Woolworths link

Plus I had an offer to spend $50 at BWS to get 2,000 points (NOT a top up either), so that brings it down to $60 for the 12 yo variant, which I quite like.

So, I got 2,070 points for the transaction (used a 5% off Gift Card to pay as well).

  • If anyone is a Southern Comfort drinker 1litre is also on special for $50 so $35 after points and $26 after shopback. Pretty much duty free pricing.
