  • The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

  • Promotional credit will expire on 30th October … Someone knows if system uses Promotional Credit before other credits in account ?

For usual credit via gift codes, is there any expiry ?

  • Got 1

  • +3

The $5 Promotional Credit equates to a discount of 6.66% and expires on 30/10/2021, and locked in to buying eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU.

    • +1

Actually 6.25% if you think about it

      • -1

So you mean spend 80 get 5 off, not spend 75 get 5 off.

        • You get $80 at a $5 discount (because you spent 75 and got 80). So it would be more correct to say the discount is 5/80= 6.25%, not 5/75

6.66% would be correct if you said something along the lines of an extra 6.66% in value for the $75

Important to keep your maths checked when comparing it with cashbacks and discounted gift cards xD

          • @Butt Scratcher: Thanks for the correction.
I apologies for my incorrect wording earlier this morning, and I did upvote your initial reply.
When I saw a surge of uptake on this deal I wanted to inform the community the true value and limitations of this deal so that you can determine for yourselves whether it is worth pursuing.

    • Cool sounds good. Then plus another 6% CR cashback when I buy my watch.

      • +1

You can use the $75 gift card on a purchase and qualify for cash back but using the $5 would disqualify you from earning cash back.

        • Do you have the choice when to apply the $5 bonus or not ?

By what I see I think you don't . eg when using all ( gift card + bonus ) is mixed up in gift card certificates .
I guess only solution is to use all in one hit on something .

          • +1

@popsiee: It shows up separately to gift cards as "Promotional credit" and you can choose when to apply it. So all good!

          • @popsiee: i have gotten 20 promotional credits from them before.. it does say promotional credits…

    • Yes, amazed at the + votes, a lot of faffing around for $5 and 90% of the stuff I buy from Amazon is US supplied because they hold SFA in Australia.

    • oof… guess one can stock up on those S&S groceries for the next lockdown

  • -5

Just spoke with one of the most unhelpful Amazon customer service reps, however the one piece of helpful information that they provided was that 5000 uses have already been reached.

    • Damn it

    • +1

I just tested on my dummy account and the system still accepting the code.

    • +1

Lies. I just bought the 75 GC. It said the code was applied and I'll receive $5 credit within 2 days.

      • Not sure why you negged me - I was relaying the lies of an unhelpful Amazon customer service rep.

Should've updated my comment when I found out later that it was still working.

  • +23

Am I missing something? Why all the love for $5?

    • +7

Please send me $5 if you don't want it.

    • +2

Can get $2.25 off $75 GC anytime with Suncorp so really this is just an additional $2.75 even

    • +6

      You must be new here.

    • +2

We're so cheap and tight that $5 is like someone dropping a homeless starving guy food, water, shelter and warmth.

  • Mine accepted the code then I went back to change credit cards, then it wouldn't let me reapply the code again 😭

    • Hmm try remove cookies or use incognito?

      • I used the app first, but I just tried on Chrome and it's the same thing. Just asked customer service and he said if it can't be applied then I'm not the first 5000. Cbb arguing further for $5 lol

    • I was in the same situation. Bought it anyway despite the message saying "the promo code you entered cannot be applied to this purchase". Called up CS and they said they could see that the code has been applied.

    • +3

this happened to me last time, I did it on mobile, accidentally pressed back then it said the code could not be applied again, even though I never used it. Spoke to support and they said they'd get back to me within 3 business days, but by then it would have been too late. I then went onto desktop the next day and found that the code was applied and showing in my cart at the top, and successfully made the purchase, and got the $5. Not sure if your case is the same, but worth checking on the desktop site that it's there (since app has slightlyy limited features -code has been applied but there's just no where that shows it afterwards)

  • +1

Placed first order and forgot to add promo code. Got the order cancelled with customer service.
Placed second order, applied promo code successfully (at 10:48 PM - AWST)

  • +1

Just bought it 2 mins ago - code was accepted and said it was a qualifying offer

  • Where do I see if I got it? Got only a note after I put the promo code in that it was successful

    • Besides the note in checkout, you will have to wait a few days as per T&Cs:

Your promotional credit will be automatically applied to your account within two (2) business days after your order is shipped (for physical gift cards) or the order being completed (for electronic gift cards). A confirmation email will be sent confirming that the promotional code has been applied to your account.

You will get an email in 2 days, saying the credit is applied. Only then you will see it on items shipped/sold from Amazon.

Based on previous promotion, subject of the email will be something like "Benefit Confirmation for your Order …-…….-……." sent by [email protected]
Previous promotion said 5 business days. I ordered on 18th received the credit on the 23rd.
I would expect an email around 28th/29th.

  • Claimed. Thanks OP

  • Just purchased with the code.
    Thanks TA!

  • +1

How do you know if you are one of the first 5000? Will it tell you if you have missed out? Will they allow a refund of the gift card if you miss out?

  • +1

Bought just now. Said code was successful, but even if it wasn’t, I’ll probably spend the money at Amazon anyway…

  • +1

Last time they did this I got a benefit confirmation email in 5 days including a weekend, with details and expiry date.

If you're concerned about it not working I suggest taking a screenshot with the code applied (before clicking confirm order).

  • Do I have to use the 75$ Gift card in 1 go or can I spend it in different transactions until I reach 75?

    • +1

      The latter

    • +2

It's like your steam wallet, if you're familiar with that.

      • Not really but it’s just credit I can use like I want if I understand it correct?

        • Yup, once you redeem the gift card to an account, you can spend it however. Keep in mind that it'll be tied to that account.

          • @raptormesh: Sure all good. Buying there all the time anyway. Prime Account expires in August. Might renew. Have you seen ever any offers from Amazon to lure customers back to sign up? I have canceled a while ago just to see.

    • Add to account and you don't have to worry about it.
Your account - Gift cards - Add a Gift Card (you can also see the balance here).
It will be applied on each order you place (can be split over multiple transactions). System in my view is way better than ebays gift card system - where you can only enter at checkout.

  • +1

I ordered the $75 card an hour back and still haven't received the card. Does it take that long?

    • Same here

    • Yes, it can take a few hours.

  • Amazon chat just confirmed that I got it. Still waiting for the Amazon card (normally 5 minutes?!). I always thought gift cards have to be used in one go.

  • -1

    can buy with gift card?

  • Ordered but not progress on order
Says it's processing still after 30mins

  • The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

  • Finally received mine 3 hours after ordering. Now to wait for the juicy $5 :)

    • +1

Don’t spend all at once (juicy 5 bucks!)

  • Hmmm… seems to be a few OzB'ers with insomnia, me included. Thanks TA.

  • Grabbed one, thank you

  • +9

Son woke up at 4:30 from a bad dream.

Dad found this deal - thanks son. Thanks OP!

    Claimed.

  • +1

Just ordered and it's still showing 'you successfully redeemed your promotional code' at 5am. Feeling skeptical and took a screenshot anyway just in case. Fingers crossed!

    Thanks TA

    • Works as long it said successfully added code. If it’s not eligible or too late it would say that when adding the code.

  • Ta TA!

  • "promotional credit will expire at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on October 30th 2021"

Conveniently 3 weeks before Black Friday.

  • Can't find place to enter promotional code. I already have gift cards in my amazon account so can't see where to enter the code please help

    • +3

Add egift card of $75 to cart. Once in cart, checkout. On page where you select addresses and payment method there is a box for promo/voucher codes. Use the code and a message will popup saying voucher used successfully before you place the order.

Note in T and Cs it said the $5 can be applied up to 2 days after the purchase so if you don't get it straight away don't stress.

Ah the joys of overnight feeds (time to help internet strangers)!

    • I can't find it either. Since it is eGift card, it doesn't even have the page with select addresses etc, Goes directly to credit card payment page.

Edit: I selected physical card, and then I found an option to enter voucher code. Thanks it worked.

      • Thanks.

I was facing the exact same problem. (No option to enter voucher code if I select an eGift card.)

I don't know why it affects only some people.

  • Thanks TA. Code worked for me this morning.

  • Posted on Cheapies. Cheers OP

  • I was expecting they offer a free entry for next space trip. Thanks anyway.

  • “Your promotional credit can only be used for purchases of eligible items shipped and sold by Amazon AU”.

  • +2

Always 3% off at Macquarie and Suncorp and credit expires in 3 years

Get $167 worth of credit for $5 off

    • +2

If you're doing a like-for-like comparison, then you would get $2.25 for $75 at Macquarie/Suncorp, so that's an extra $2.75 with this promo.

        • -2

Ok so I guess everyone's time is worthless. Spend 1 hr to save $2

          • @silenthillrocks: Well, if you're waiting all the time refreshing your inbox for that mail to arrive, then yes.
You can also just buy now in less than a minute and check your inbox tomorrow and apply to your account … (2-clicks tomorrow and it's applied to your account).

  • Has anyone received an email saying the $5 has been added?

A confirmation email will be sent confirming that the promotional code has been applied to your account

Got the message at checkout saying code was successful, and have the giftcard $75 balance, but nothing else yet.

    • Same

    • +1

The confirmation email will come when they add the credit (within 2 business days).

      • Ah it just reads weirdly, I see

  • Thanks TA, now I just have to wait for the current gen Nintendo Switches to start dropping in price!

  • Thank you OP!

  • Correct me if I’m wrong, but this promotional credit is only valid on purchases made on items sold directly by Amazon correct?

    • +1

Correct, can also be applied to Subscribe and Save purchases, so just use it towards something that you usually buy.

  • Cannot be applied to purchase. Might be too late.

    • Just tried now, did not get that error

    • Something like "The code was successfully applied" came up 15 minutes ago for me.

      • Did you delete your order and try to add it again?

  • +3

It feels so sad ordering gift cards and addressing them to myself, but gotta get that $5 credit!

  • +4

All this excitement for $5. Covid definitely changes the world

    • +1

Not entirely sure about the world part, but def changed my bank account balance.

      • changed my bank account Amazon GC balance.

        FTFY

  • -2

Is this stackable? Like $75x4 different transactions. so can get $20?

    • One promotional credit per account

      • I'm not that excited with my 14 a/c :)
No retirement fund yet especially only $2 more than my normal rate with cashback potential restrictions .

  • -1

Thanks OP, 3 board games bought. I am not using Amazon as much lately. eBay and free cryptos working out a lot better for me.

    • You didn't buy the $75 GC?

      • -1

Yep, bought the $75 GC and used them on 3x board games which came to $76.50

Using eBay to buy nearly everything lately as getting 100% return (60c on the $1 with dropping crypto value) via the socialgood app at the moment. My Amazon spend went from around $6k a month to nearly $0 though.
