    POSITIVES
+ Classic aesthetics is at home anywhere
    + Solid wooden build
    + Manageable size
+ Great mids and highs, with decent bass
+ Can go very loud, adjustable bass level

    NEGATIVES
    - Inconvenient placement of control dials
    - Needs more deep, low down sub-bass for modern music
    - Only offers RCA inputs

      • +3

        Its wood, not plastic.

      • +3

Nope, it's wood. It's not timber, probably MDF. But still wood.

    • Thanks this is really helpful. Just wondering are the speaker wire inputs at the back used?

      • +1

The speaker terminals are for connecting the speaker with the amp in it, to the other speaker.

  • are they any good for TV/movie?

    • I bought it on the last deal, using with TV, sounds decent & pleasant sounding. Good for a standard living room.

  • How do these compare to R1280DBs?
Can't seem to find any comparisons out there.

    • +2

I own both and they are great? Dunno what to tell you other than that :P I use R1280DB on my TV and the R1000T4 with my laptop via a USB dac…..

      • Is the R1280DBs worth the little extra? Are they the same in build size, quality? Do they sound the same?

        • +1

Depends what you want it for…. I'd say if you want to run your TV with a set the R1280DB are the better choice. (They have a remote also, I use a harmony remote to mute them if I use my headphones instead)

      • How do you have them hooked to your TV? And do you notice any audio delay?

        • +1

TOSLINK/Optical and no noticeable delay :)

  • I got a set of these on prime day, very happy with purchase

    • Same, use mine daily when WFH.

Actually, I got the Bluetooth version for like $52 on Prime day. I guess it's a good price if you don't need that. Honestly wish I'd bought 3 or 4 BT sets of Prime day though.

  • Anyone know if these would be an okay temporary rear speaker set for my home theatre?

The photo makes it look like it takes speaker cable? I guess these are powered though.

    • +1

No good for your use case. The powered side terminals are an output to the passive second speaker.

      • Ahh thanks mate! Appreciate it! Immensely!

  • +3

Would anyone recommend these over TV speakers?

    • +4

Really any bookshelf speaker would be "better" in certain ways over TV speakers and even soundbars, as they are actually physically stereo. You won't get a lot of bass from these guys though, if you watch movies a lot, might be worth investing a little more into them.

    • No way TV speakers at same price level can beat this IMO but you can't hide this under TV

    • Depends on your TV, some have decent speakers already, and this upgrade mightn't be a big enough.
I'd spend a little more and get slightly better speakers.

  • +1

These are excellent as computer speakers…and for the price…I got 'em at $100…

    • How do you plug them in to computer?

      • +1

Via 3.5 headphone jack. Should come with an adapter.

  • Thanks, got a set to use with my laptop and DJ controller.

  • These aren't bluetooth capable are they? Just trying to look at speakers replacement but minimising my cables

  • Very happy with mine that I picked up for a similar price. Sound was much much better than the Logitech's I had which cost more.

  • Can I connect these directly to my receiver and run them as regular non-powered speakers? I checked the manual and some online reviews but it's not clear.

  • If I connect this to my TV, is the sound going to be better than Yamaha 108B Soundbar that currently I'm using?

  • Reading the above, not sure if i can use these as tv speakers.
Should I use these as PC speakers (gaming, youtube) and move the PC speaker to TV? Really old Logitech Z4
I have a Yamaha soundbar YAS108B that is on the projector that I love

    • +1

You can use them for whatever you like, but they are designed as near field computer speakers. Same as your Logitech Z4.

  • $55 now ?

    • Price algorithm says it's now $56.37

  • will this go into a Pioneer DDJ200 deck ?

    has anyone used it ?

    • The DDJ200 does not have any outputs, other than the USB direct to your computer.
These speakers take RCA input, so that means you would need a way to output from your computer to RCA.
I think there are some $25 external soundcards that would do that, or you could fudge it with a 3.5mm to RCA cable (noting that headphones are not line out).
I'm not seeing whether the 3.5mm to RCA is included in the box.

      Edifier says:

Versatile connectors for easier cable replacement / extensions https://www.edifier.online/products/edifier-r1000t4-active-2…

      This review says:

The Edifier R1000T4 comes with a a 3.5mm to dual RCA cable, RCA to RCA cable and also a speaker connecting cable. https://pokde.net/review/edifier-r1000t4-bookshelf-speakers-…

So I think you can probably connect to headphone out but just keep the volume lower so it doesn't clip the audio.

      • ohh so in that case this will work well for the DDJ400

  • note that some of the pictures on the listing are R1010BT not R1000T4

  • Showing as 59.42 when I add it to cart, what am I missing?

    • +2

yeah showing $63.70 for me lol

      • Yeah I just refreshed and the price went up to $63.70 as well.

    • Amazon pricing algorithm in full force.

      • I didn't even know that was a thing.

        • Yes, when people start buying it the price increases

  • Cheapest Edifier with digital in?

  • How do these compare to Edifier R1280DB? Looking to buy either; for tv and general music listening in the living room.

    • The Edifier R1280DB has optical in and a remote which in my use has made a great pairing with my TV. It also has Bluetooth if you wish to stream music to it also….

  • +1

They are the first company who put a fake tweeter on one of their bookshelf speakers LOL
