Bicycle Storage Ideas - Garage

Looking for ideas/suggestions on the bike storage above from ground in the garage.

Above is to save the floor space. Looked into Wall hooks, but not sure of the issues if any down the track.

Wondering if anyone can share their insights or current set up.

I have one of these as a wall rack and two pairs of these for roof mounting (two bikes, one claw for each wheel). The zenith rack works well and if you have room for it then it’s easier than lifting the bikes to the roof. The gladiator claws look neat and keep bikes above storage cupboards so nicely out of the way, but it’s definitely more difficult to get them up and down. With either one would need to check bike dimensions - zenith make sure enough room under top tube, gladiator claws make sure roof studs are roughly same distance apart as centre points of wheels. You can also use the gladiator claws to hang bikes by one wheel only if you prefer

If you're putting a carbon framed bike on a wall rack, use a cradle of some sort to avoid stress points on the frame. I use a piece of PVC pipe cut lengthwise, with a section of foam as padding, to frame damage. Chrome moly or aluminum frames won't need this.

      Alternatively hang from wheels.

    • Its aluminium frame (bike), weights approx 13 kg in Total

  • Really appreciate everyone comments, gave me diff perspective and sellers, Bunnings was surprise

  • Kogan is selling below model, diff to what I am asking but she's interesting and cheap for $29

      + shipping.

    • Ok if you can’t fix anything to a wall, but aren’t really stable IMO.

I have this but don't use it for the following reasons:

      • my tyre width is 2.4 inches which is too wide for it to sit in the wheel holder.

      • bike uses 29" size wheels which means the bike has to lean over quite a lot so the seat post can sit on the vertical holder (even when fully extended).

So this bike stand is funcrional for bikes that fit.

    • Ended up with kogan stand, does the job for me for a while, no issues as such.

Next one will be wall mount option.

If you don't have a budget have a look these works pretty well.

    • Don’t look great for MTBs that have a sloping too tube or suspension components up high.
