I watched this last year during lockdown. I never thought I’d watch it again in lockdown this year.

    • How was it?

Why oh why the penguin hate, how can a broadcast of those cute little fellas so upset you JV??

With the idiots running this country, you may as well make it a tradition and watch every year until lockdown 2051 until you die.

    Do they wear little hats?

    • Do let us know tomorrow.

  • Nice, will stream tomorrow.

    • Won’t be any rockhoppers sorry mate

      • In sure you will be only seeing the night vision at that time, so it doesn't really matter I guess

  • This is a great initiative and very enjoyable to watch with the family, the staff are really enthusiastic about the little penguins.

  • Don't forget Penguin Town on Netflix too

What have I become… sings in Johnny Cash.

July arrival time still estimated at 5:45pm so I would tune in by then especially in case of disappointing kids. More likely to be closer to 6pm but also penguins don't wear watches

Definitely a better option than actually being there. I've never seen a worse tourist trap, and I've seen a lot of them.

  • I watched the premier of NSW waddling about on lock downs and restrictions, does that mean she's part penguin?

  • Thanks OP

  • +1

It's not very well known but can you see them in St Kilda.

Follow the pier onto the rock wall at sunset. They're the same fairy penguins.

It's not a tourist attraction so please be normal. Don't flash them or bother them, just watch from a distance.

    • Last time I was there (a month or so ago), you have to pre-book your time to visit. Not sure if because of Covid or maintenance works.

    • Penguins are not really my flashing targets.

  • one of the SBS channels is running that S l O w Tv crap again.. train from north to south NZ…. this seems to be teh same… zZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I must be hungry. This post made me wonder what penguins taste like. Now I wish I hadn't looked it up.

  • Ok - someone has to say it…
    How is this a 'deal'?
Will all live streams now be front page deals?
Should I post every Youtube nature video as a deal?

    • +2

It's a deal because they are streaming it for a limited time only during lockdown and it normally costs $30 per person and a painful 2 hours drive from Melbourne CBD

      • Watching something on a live stream and attending in person are not the same.
Just like viewing Hamilton on Disney+ is not the same as seeing it at a theatre. Do you really think the cost of the two should be the same?

        • +3

We were still in lockdown yesterday
You couldn't go there in person

And yeah it's different, but if you've already been there once, live stream is much better for a second time, because of 2 reasons
          1. You are not allowed to have close contact with the penguins as a wild life animals protection measure. Hence you have a much better and closer look on YouTube
          2. It's so cold and windy there on the coastline. Particularly in winter. Not everyone is healthy enough to sit there in the wind for 60 minutes.

And I prefer watching movies at home so I may go to the bathroom anytime

  • Did anyone watch it? Couldn't find any link! I remember living near a mechanical engineering student in Melbourne who likes to race at his hometown, Phillip island

  • PENGUINS!
