P1 500gb is 67 bucks on amazon right now. 62 bucks if there's a JW store near you. Picked up 2 just this morning, 62 is too good to pass up. I paid 85 bucks for my mx500 500gb sata drive a year ago.

Yes, crucial P1 is one of the slowest nvme drives. Kingston A2000 way better nand & controller.
I'm no wizard but I'd assume the 2nd generation P2 is better than the 1st generation P1

What is different between P1 and P2????
P2 offers faster speeds and better write endurance, however it doesn't have DRAM cache like the P1 so it will slow down more quickly during sustained writes.
P1 has DRam and all round better performance for gaming and light use. P2 has better read and write speeds in moving files but slower with applications and gaming.
There is a bad review for P1 on their website, it’s reliable or true?
It'll throttle from heat if it exceeds 70° so I'm sure that would be the cause if it's happening during gaming. You should always put a heatsink on NVMe drives and many motherboards come with them today.
Like Clear said, always use heatsinks. Many people will install a SSD and then a bigass GPU almost touching it which will vent heat onto the SSD.
Yep can confirm they get hot but great for apps and games. Just put a heatsink on it

@Oxygenzero: you're also doubling the TBW or endurance of the drive as the 500gb has a 100TBW and the 1tb has 200TBW

Crucial is a JD Micron brand (Texas based memory fabrication/manufacturer).
They are also the OEM manufacturer for Dell/Lenovo systems.They also produce the Crucial Ballistix gaming memory.
Any good external enclosures for one of these? Clearly won't be as fast as connected to the motherboard, but should still be good for a fast, 1TB + external drive. Or is there a better drive for this?

Why all the debate on speed? A few years ago we were all using regular SATA hard drives. The speed difference between drives these days is milliseconds and I don't think anyone would notice a difference between any m2 / nvme module.
Waiting for P1 to drop a little or get an A2000, but convince me to jump on this
