  • Hi OP, nice tank, thinking of getting one for my kitchen bench, what are the dimensions of the item?

    • 71cm x 20cm x 43cm on the webpage,

      • Yeah all good I saw it on the last page lol its mentioned in a couple places.. opps

        • +2

It's still a problem we need to fix if it's not clear. So thank you again.

      • 20cms is the width of the plastic stand. The tank is an extra 20cm deep to ensure that there is space in the back to work with, feed the fish etc. I'm happy to put a photo up if you like?

    • -1

This is cheaper and smaller, more suitable for kitchen bench.

How can the poo of that one little fish feed all those plants though???

  • Product shots are hilarious. Like hey just going to put my fish tank right in the middle of my island while I chop my food.

    Nevertheless, it got me interested.

    • +2

That image made me want to get the item for my bench haha cut my chicken thigh while looking at my fish

      • +1

        What about Barri? Where's Barri?

      • +2

why not slice some sashimi while looking at the fish?

        • +1

Haha… you're next fishy! Nooo… we love animals, but barri and snapper are delicious

        • +1

          Because I'm not a monster

    • It's really hard to take photo's with glass. It reflects so much :( but… I must say.. You made me laugh as well.

  • +4

Hey Hey. OMG thank you so much for the support. We are really newbies to this. So any feedback is welcomed.

I've added an image to the product photos of the size and dimensions.

70cm L x 45 D x 90cm H with the light bar attached. If the image is blurry. You can also see the technical information at www.aquasprouts.com.au. We set it up specifically for it : ).

Thank you again for your support. It's really encouraging.

The one you are probably after is the Tropical Kit. Feel free to ask any questions. We are very new to the marketplace world.

        • Thanks OP, does tropical mean I can get Tropical fish? I've had tanks with normal fish i.e tetras and that, but after more of a Tropical set up with more fancy fish

    • newbies? but it says you guys been operating since 2016? 🤔

      • +3

Newbies in these forums and marketplaces.

  • +2

The pump and heaters look messy to be honest. Idea is you want the tank to look clean whilst having those functions. I would rather hide those like they do in the Xiaomi Geometry tanks like this one here https://xiaomi-mi.com/appliances/geometry-c-series-smart-fis…

    • +2

Respect the feedback and completely understand. The Aquasprouts is a little more functional and made for herb growth. Most aquaponics kits are so ugly. We are working on an alternative to clean up the cables out the back. So thank you for the feedback. we'll take what we can get.

    • +1

To be fair, you get more bang for buck with the OP. $180 for the one you shared and seems pretty small. I guess the smart feeder feature is what we're paying for

      • where did you find $180 for the xiaomi one?

      • +4

Better bang is to buy a bookshelf tank and do a aquascape in it. Buy a Renpho Aquaponic separately for $65. This is just a KMART tank with a plastic cover for seed inserts.

Better value to get Starphire glass and get some ADA aquasoil and let your imagination go wild. This is a expensive 40L tank with a small pump.

        • +1

can't seem to find Renpho Aquaponic

  • +3

Poor choice of fish for such a tiny tank, better off with something that stays small.

    • +12

Agreed. Those fish were borrowed from our local aquarium and returned three days later. No animals were harmed in the making of this. :)

  • $40 shipping what? Can we pick it up?

    • +1

      Are you based in Melbourne?

  • +1

Many people got a puppy during lockdown, but how many can say they got an Aquasprout instead.

    • +1

You guys rock. We are a little overwhelmed already. Hope we can keep up.

    • Lucky for me an aquasprout don't cost $4000 😂

      • +1

Aren't they way more. I know people that have paid $35,000k for a puppy. That's crazy

        • +3

what sort of dog do you get for a $35000 puppy, he'd better pick up his own poo and make coffee at that price?!

        • +1

Pls find out what kind of puppy costs $35k, I want one!

  • +3

Would be cool to create a filter/sump within the side of one of the legs and even the pump for garden in other side

Just to clean the cables at the back is easy with frosted window film, nice easy and cheap.

    Do they come with filters?

    Great work either way

    • +1

Holy Moly, thats a great idea.

    • +1

They don't need filters :) Check out aquasprouts.com.au. It creates an ecosystem :)
Fish poo, plants eat the waste and return clean water to the tank.

      • Oh so the pumps creates enough flow to move the detritus to the intake and up? Nice!

Check out the link. It explains how it works.

      • +1

This doesn’t show how the pump generates enough flow that it pulls it into the inlet from around the tank?

        • We can send you a video if you like. Have you checked out the videos on our instagram? It's pretty straight forward. Do you need more info?

  • +1

$209+40 shipping for a tank. rocks and a micropump.

  • Hey Guys, WOW.. We didn't expect this to take off like this. We need to let everyone know we have a 150 units left already and haven't gone live. We will need to cap the promotion once it hits that. Thank you so much for the support.

  • Can we pick up at Melbourne so we don't have to pay for shipping cost

    • Where are you based? We can activate local pickup.

    • +1

Done! We've activated Local Pick up : )

      • thanks. can i pick up once the lockdown is finish

        • So 2023? ;)

        • Where are you based?

  • OP any chance of a sale on your indoor-smart-garden? Interested if it contains a water pump

    • Jump onto our site and chat to one of out team members they might be able to help :)

  • Hi OP, when I go to check out for the freshwater kit is shows as $469 instead of $449. Cheers

    • Ow damn. We will fix it!

    • Elhome. It's fixed! :)

      • Thank and purchased.

Was hoping to do local pick up but you are out of my 5km radius.

        • Well, where are you based? Maybe we can have a team member drop you off the unit? ☺️😊

  • Does that mean you don't ever need to clean the water in this setup? :)

    • Technically, if the balance between the fish and plants are correct :). A clean every 6-12 months should happen anyway.

  • +3

These comments have been amazing to read great work OP

    • +2

Holy Crap! I need a holiday after this. My fingers are gonna fall off. Ow SNAP LOCK DOWN again

  • Lol, hopefully it all goes well :)

    • We just don't want to disappoint!

  • Running out quickly guys. WOW.

  • Running out quickly guys. WOW.

  • Light Bar (LAMP NOT INCLUDED)

what type of lamp is required?

    • Any grow lamp. Just don't go wild with a 1000w HPS. You'll kill everything. We are looking at throwing in the LED's with the basic kits next month.

  • Are there any edible fish that you can raise in these tanks?

    • +6

Short answer: most fish are edible if you're game.

Real answer: you'll be needing tanks with hundreds to a few thousand litres to grow the popular eating fish like perch, barra, trout.

The day a company develops a flatpack 1000L aquaponics system for $150-300 will be a great day.

      • Joel, want a job lol ?

    • +1

      Not in these units.

  • -1

Please don't ever put fish in this, it's nowhere near suitable for fish.

    • +6

40L tank is fine. Just need to put suitable fish and be mindful of stocking density

      • Correct :-)

      • What kind of fish are suitable for this size? Also how many fish can fit into this size?

        • +4

          Tetras, rasbora's, mosquito fish, shrimp.

10-15 i'd say, but the aim of these setups is to get as much fish poop as possible to feed the plants.
Can't see this being that good at this size, looks a bit like a gimmick.

(i've been keeping fish for quite some time now)

        • +3

white mountain minnows/golden mountain minnows, cherry barbs, tetras, rasboras, medakas (japanese ricefish), kuhli loaches, spotted blue eyes, corydora catfish, pencilfish, danios, guppies (but only one gender or they will populate monthly). Just be weary of compatiability if mixing as some can be nippy (cherry barb and danios). I would start with 6 of whatever fish but ask the aquarium store for their opinion.

  • +2

these tanks are way too small for goldfish

    • Actually with aquaponic system, you want decent amount of waste so the plant can grow but yes, it'll get too small rather soonish for goldfish

    • Agreed. Those fish were borrowed from our local aquarium and returned three days later. No animals were harmed in the making of this. :)

    • +1

Hey Pluto, Agreed. Those fish were borrowed from our local aquarium and returned three days later. No animals were harmed in the making of this. :) We've learnt a lot since that shoot was done over 4 years ago. We've taken the feedback onboard and are exploring a reshoot with smaller tropical fish.

  • +2

The lamp for growing the plant is pretty crucial and should be part of the the basic kit, unless the OP implied that the lamp can be easily obtained elsewhere?
