You know, it’s funny you’ve mentioned this. We might have to change the base kit after this sale. Please keep the recommendations coming. We are here to grow and learn as well.

  • Nice size for a variety of fish.

Handful of tetras would be nice with a betta fish,!

    • Bingo! Thank you for the love.

  • OP, do you sell like attachment kit so it can be attached into existing aquarium?

I already have 2 footer aquarium (and thinking of getting a 3 footer) and it would be cool if I can just buy an aquaponic attachment and put it on top (or side)

  • Hi OP… Would the tank size suitable to raise axolotl?

    • Depends on the axolotl size, might be OK for 1? The main question is that whether axolotl generate enough waste to feed the plants?

      • +1

From what i read, they produce a lot of waste.

Just found the tank size, it looks like a bit small to raise axolotl

        • Tank size: 52 x 40 x 32 just incase

    • Havent had axolotl but I was looking into getting 1 before. It would need bigger tank, and youd need thermostat since it prefers cooler water.

This is a very expensive Mickey Mouse toy.

Aquaponics is for serious growers, otherwise you spend a lot of money for not much and flush your money down the drain not too long later when you give up.

See here for an intro (and his Youtube vids): https://www.abc.net.au/gardening/factsheets/pengs-world/9435…

    • Depends on what you want to grow I suppose. If the plant is simple, just need nitrogen then simple system like should be OK.

My guess it should be OK for simple herbs or green vegies?

I agree that to grow something more advanced like strawberry, you need to have deeper understanding like the nutrient (chemistry) within the water

      • Correct! :)

      • +2

You can grow herbs, veg, strawberries in a pot by your window sill for < $10 and decide whether you want to continue or not.

    • Thanks for the shared post.

      • No problem :-)

Agree. Most people are pretty new to aquaponics, thus the reason we mainly service schools, to educate our future.

We identified the education issue and have since created an education portal for schools, that include courses, training and all sorts of resources.

We do also provide serious kits for people that really want to go the hack. https://www.urbangreenfarms.com.au/product-page/outdoor-aqua…

Hey Ihbh. That's why this unit is made for beginners. Our schools seem to do fine with students managing the systems and maintaining them. As long as customers follow the guides and watch the 10 min videos, they'll be successful.

      • The point I'm making is that beginners shouldn't start with a space pen but a pencil (Google it if you don't know what I mean). Do something inexpensive and then decide if you want to go further. Even then, you don't need to buy a space pen. :)

Hey people, please dont get goldfish for a tank this size even though they are in the pics. It is far too small! Goldies need rather large tanks. Better suited to smaller fish!

    • +1

Agree! We only used goldfish for the shoot a long time ago. We borrowed them from an Aquarium.

How do these look after 6 months of neglect?

Asking for a friend, and most people in this thread

    • +1

Worse case scenario, you'll end up with a 40L tank which can be re-purposed - assuming the tank is detachable

      • What type of neglect? I guess if you neglect anything for long enough it will fall apart?

  • Hi OP,
What kind of fish are suitable for this size? Also how many fish can fit into this size?

  • +1

I probably would have purchased this if I didn't already have a 150L tank that takes 2 hours of my time to clean every few weeks. lol.

    • 150L? I'm so jealous :P LOL

      • And where did you get a 150L? I want one! lol

    • +2

Wahhh that's so much good nutrient. You should get a grow tray and recirculate water from the fish tank to the tray. It will reduce your cleaning requirements.

      • you got a link for that? I'm interested. lol

These guys are just too good!!!

I made a error with my order and they went out of the way to have this all sorted out within 20mins on a Sunday afternoon!!!

This is such a great innovation that will help kids understand about aquaponics, whilst being talking point for the parents. These are the types of businesses we should be supporting during the Covid lockdowns.

    • Why thank you so much! 😊 we really appreciate it. Happy to help.

  • Hi. I'm confused what is the part on the top that takes it to 90cm? Is that a handle or a light? I noticed the picture of the tank in the kitchen does not show this part, therefore is it an optional attachment or does it fold down?

    • I think it's for hanging a grow light on

    • It's the light bar, where you hang the light on. It comes with it, but you can remove if :)

  • Shudder. All the poor fish who will most likely be purchased along with this deal and suffer at the hands of people who don’t know what they’re doing. Fish; the most abused animal on the planet. Possibly even more so than chickens.

    • agreed

  • I'm getting $60 shipping to Brisbane (not $40 as advertised), despite being in a metro area…

    • Ow we’ll take a look. Would you like to shoot us through an email. We’ll get our web team to sort it out in the morning.

    • +1

Hey Plasmapuff. Accept our apologies. We've since updated the shipping costs for the duration of this promotion. Feel free to try again. It should now set to $40.

  • Hey OP how many left? Im looking top get one for the missus birthday but need to discuss first

    • +1

Hey Hey Gebb, 8 left. We will need to hold some units in inventory for our schools though. Let us know if you need reinforcements with the missus… lol… we'll throw in the cheer squad.

      • what's the difference when selecting 'white' with AQU001 and AQU004 besides $50 more?

        • +1

Hey Gebb, it’s the addition of the light. We are trying to figure out the beat way to bring that package on standard with the lamp, so we don’t have to reopen boxes. It’s been a bit of a work in progress. Happy to take on as much feedback as we can get.

          • @Urban Green Farms: Thanks OP have bought a unit

            • +2

@Gebb: Gebb, we’ve seen your order come through, but you haven’t applied the Oz Bargains coupon code. Please let us know if you’d like some additions, or a refund amount for the extra money you paid. It wouldn’t be fair to not apply the code after you’ve been referred over.

              • @Urban Green Farms: Just want to call out the AMAZING customer service bu your team today/tonight, thanks for a great customer experience!!

                • @Gebb: It’s a pleasure. Pass on the love ❤️ when you take the Missus out for dinner ;-) tip the waiting staff. They need all the help they can get. It’s what we do best.

  • Exicted for my new kit to arrive. Its a new project for me and the kids..I have read reviews on web on how to set it up and its going to be fun to keep me pre-occupied for the Melbourne Lockdowns.

    • +1

Hey hey, let us know your order number and we’ll let you know if it’s been despatched yet. You might have already received a tracking number :-). Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any problems.

  • Could you list the plants I can grow?

  • Hi OP,
