    • Once the batteries are installed in the assembled car, what is the mechanism to co trol the car? Didn't see any remote etc. Can you advise?

        I made exactly this car. This kit is a bit misleading- all it will do is move foreword at full speed once you assemble it.
        You're going to need these 2 things:

        Also, you'll need a soldering iron and some solder. To make it and get it to work, it might take a weekend.

        The great thing is, once you've got it set up, you can go nuts. It is very simple to add, for example, an ultrasonic rangefinder and then program it into the robot's decision making. I got mine to drive foreword and check for anything within 30 cm( you can do that with the speed of sound and the rangefinder). Then, it does a subroutine where it looks left and right (the rangefinder is attached to a servo), stores the values in a matrix, does some simple maths, and figures out the best way to go.

      • I'll be using an Single Board Computer (SBC) called an Asus Tinker Edge T but a Raspberry Pi will work, too.

        The Pos and Neg wires from the motors go into the SBC (the manual will tell you which pins to put the wires into).

        And with 10 lines of Python you can control it with a keyboard.

    This is not a smart car and it's not 4WD in any meaningful way (i.e. there is no 4WD controller, just all four wheels are powered). It's also not a robot, since there is no controller or sensors. It is a chassis, some motors, tyres, encoders discs and a battery box. It'll just go in a straight line if you hook the batteries up to the motors all in parallel.

    You'll need a controller and a lot of knowledge to turn this into something useful. (Probably some transistors or a motor controller too since the output pins on most controllers don't want to supply too much current).

    It's a decent price for what it is, but it's not what the title claims.

    It doesn't even have the encoder sensors, just the encoder discs.
