20% off Breast Pumps @ Spectra Baby AU

250

Spectra are having another 20% off sale - they tend to happen once or twice a year.

My wife uses the S1+ with built-in battery and loves it - down to $303.20 from $379.

The S2 is cheaper at $239.20 but requires AC power.

Great time to get extra replacement accessories like shields/flanges.

Don't bother with their bottles - the flanges are compatible with Philips bottles.

Best pumps out there (I have an S2 and S9 portable).

These 20% off sales happen a few times a year but they don’t really go cheaper than this

Another vote for these pumps, we have the S1, definitely recommend getting the rechargeable battery powered one if you can afford it.

They also hold their value well for resale purposes too when it's no longer required.

  • Bought the s1 plus a while ago on eBay, ships from S Korea

We had the S1 for a long time and it was by far the breast machine we've had (been down the route of manual and then a madela unit). Only got rid of it when it fell off a bench and lost its suction power. If we have more kids, we'll be buying another for sure!

          🤦‍♂️

      • Well it is an even number haha, seriously though, we've got to where we are because life starts to feel a little repetitive and uneventful after a while. Raising kids is something we enjoy and it's an amazing experience - one we just can't get enough of evidently.. even if it is chaotic and testing at times!

  • This is by far the best pump out there, better than the Medela Symphony that the hospital has.

Mrs is using the S2 right now as I type.

  • Is s1 worth purchasing over s2?

    • Only difference is the battery. Your call.

    • According to my wife definitely yes

    • Yes! I have had to unplug my S1 so many times to tend to various other things. Really glad I decided on the S1 and not the S2.

  • Had a Medela Swing and it was terrible. Bought a Spectra S2 and has been amazing through two kids. I also had an M1 for portability for work which was good because it was a lot more portable but lacked the oomph of the S2. While the rechargable battery of the S1 is great, I didn't really regret not buying it because I never really had a need to walk around carting a pump with one hand and holding the bottle to myself so up to individual needs I guess and depends on if you are exclusively pumping or just supplementing.

  • Are the prices listed on their website the already discounted prices? i was having a look the other day and couldn't see any changes to prices on a few items i had my eye on.

    • Starts next Monday

      • Oops! Rookie mistake!

  • Medela seems overpriced compared to Spectra even without 20% off.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Elvie? I understand the Elvie is portable and S2 is plugged in only. Is portability important?

    • Get S1 if you want portable

  • Quite a few poor reviews on product review. Parts needing to be replaced frequently and poor support. Any truth to this?

    • +1

I haven't needed support so I can't comment on that. Re parts, they do need to be replaced every so often to ensure optimal efficiency, however this is true of any pump. I don't perceive Spectra to be any different to other pumps like Medela in this respect.

The machine itself doesn't need much but the tubes, connectors, and bottles you'd want to be replacing on a regular basis depending on how frequent you pump (e.g. if you're exclusively pumping, you'd be spending hours a day at the pump vs someone who only pumps after a feed to build a stash might only pump an hour a day). Spectra has a guide on their website as to how frequent you should be replacing. It's essentially silicon getting pulled and stretched each time to pump and over time will loosen and not get a tightly stretched to create the seal for strong suction. This would be the same as any only pump but hard to tell whether it was more or less than other brands since I didn't use two concurrently. The Spectra (S1/S2 anyways) is hospital grade and it definitely felt stronger in their pumping power so I would assume they may go through the replaceable parts quicker?

As for support they have an amazing local team. When I had an issue with the suction, they responded within an hour, set up a video Skype call with a local person (this was a few years ago before wfh was even really a thing) and they helped me diagnose the issue and sent me replacement parts free of charge within two days). I've always found their service to be impeccable but that was from my experience only.

Agree with all the positive comments! Currently using the S1 and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend spending the extra to have the portability of the S1. I have looped a belt through it which I sling over my shoulder so that I can move about the house while pumping.

Suggest to check out Amazon for compatible replacement parts. I'm using Maymom valves and membranes which are just as good as Spectra but much cheaper, particularly if you buy in bulk.

    • ^ I concur. I haven't tried to do too much while pumping because the S1 is still heavy, but the portability is well worth it. I also use Maymom replacement valves and membranes. I've seen some negative reviews for Maymom but I haven't had any issues with them myself.

  • S1 is too costly for me..anyone used M1 and can comment on their experience with it.? Thanks

I bought it for portability for work but found it wasn’t as strong and effective as you don’t get as many auction options
