  • I am in the market for one of these - Kogan has the s2 for by far the cheapest price I can find anywhere.

I just clicked the link and they have it even cheaper than stated here…it's $509.

What do you guys think before I buy this…

    s2 versus galaxy nexus???

    • $509 without delivery that is.

    • the price in the link is without delivery..

      get the nexus

Their picture with a stamp of an Australian map is (purposely) misleading because these are not Australian stock covered with local manufacturers' warranty.

  • As per bennyzhou's comment in another thread, "Before purchasing please google s2 echo with cover". I was considering the S2, but now not so sure….pretty disappointing issue for a top end phone.

    • Every phone has it's issues. They have sold more than 20 million Galaxy S2 so problems are bound to be found.

      • seems to not be a problem if you don't use a cover -going by a lot of posts on whirlpool etc

    • I make about 1000 outgoing calls a month (for the past 6 months), I'm with Telstra and have not had one single complaint. The only thing is I have 2 batteries for it :)

    • I have used S2 for over 3 months and i have no idea what this is … "s2 echo with cover"

      • Second that.

  • any kogan coupons/codes at the moment?

Anyone using those $300 vouchers? Goes down to about $450.

errr… they had these for $499 abuot 2 months ago. Why has it gone up in price ? :S

  • i bought it back when it was going for $520 with delivery. Great price. Same product. I had a problem with the phone not turning on. Sent it back and they sent me a new one. I'm happy with their service.

  • Just a word of warning to those about to buy. You may want to wait a little. Kogan has a 'sliding scale' method of 'special deal' pricing. You may find this will be cheaper again in about a week or two. An example is the Motorola Razr that was at $538 (delivered), now almost $100 cheaper.

…of course the other risk is that they become sold out.

    Just sayin'.

I bought it for $500 including postage last year around nov so no deal for me.

  • I'll be going with Sony's first smartphone, the Xperia S, due March 5 from clove.co.uk or handtec. Cost around $570 AUD delivered via Fedex.

Specs are superior to Galaxy S2 and Nexus. Plus a 12 MP camera with big sensor.

Some sweet benchmark tests just released:

Ummm Sony's first smart phone?? Maybe first half decent looking one…

But in regards to the SGS2 it's almost 1 year old so what do you expect, over a year is eternity in the Android world! SGS3 is due out soon (possibly announced mid-March) and the specs they are rumouring (Quad core CPU,etc, etc) it will have will smack the shit out of that Sony….

      • Maybe,
but atm everything I bash on the S2 is smooth sailing from it with no delays at all.
It is like putting a top-end graphics card to play an old-gen game. Most, if not all, of Android market apps will run smooth on Galaxy S2 for at least 2 years with it's current specs (IMO).

        • Yeah and 2 years ago my Desire worked great and you would think how could this 1GHz CPU ever not suffice. Now 2 years on it can't run Gingerbread because of RAM limitations and really is starting to get a bit slugish.

Even if you don't want SGS3, as soon as it's announced it should drive pricing down. HTC are slating there quad core now to come out in April, so we can probably expect Samsung to announce it mid-March and launch it in April too…

The SGS2 certainly won't get dearer between now and then…it will most likely crash in price as soon as the SGS3 is released, then it will be a bargain….
