As someone who recently had to deal with appliances online after my brand new fridge didn't last 12 months, it was abysmal.

If you buy this stove you'd better hope there's no issues with it and if there is, hopefully Essatto warranty service is decent.

        • Appliances online were amazing for me. Washing machine out of warranty and they arranged a full refund from the company for me.

          • @Oz em: I was given phone numbers and told to chase it up myself. Then had to call at each and every step of the way to get things actioned.

            • @Ten: As per ACL, the retailer cannot refer you to the manufacture. I would have taken this to with the manager and let them know you’re aware of your rights.

              • @[Deactivated]: I asked for a supervisor on more than one occasion and was told 'there isn't one available'. There was seemingly no real way to escalate anything.

They basically acknowledged that this shouldn't be the process, however they didn't do anything to fix it.

Ended up having no working fridge for just over 3 weeks which was super inconvenient and they really didn't seem to care.

Then when I was finally able to get a refund they took 2 weeks to process it, even after they'd already taken the broken fridge. They initially put the amount as a credit on my account, despite me asking for a refund so I could buy somewhere else. Then after my chase up call it took them another week to move the funds onto my card.

              • @[Deactivated]: It's not that they "can't refer you", it's that they "can't refuse to deal with you". In a lot of cases it's probably easier to deal directly with the manufacturer, rather than the retailer act as a middle-man

                • @SirCH: Isn’t that the same thing?

                  • @[Deactivated]: not really. You have the option to go to the manufacturer or the retailer. Like SirCH said, often the manufacturer is easier to deal with as they carry spare parts etc to remedy issues and are actually familiar with the product rather than a retailer who sells many different brands. Generally, for troubleshooting, the manufacturer is much better.

If you choose not to deal with the manufacturer though, the retailer cannot refuse you service, so you always have options for both.

One thought… the benefit that it isn't supporting Harvy Norman (Gerry Harvey)?

Free delivery, free removal/recycling of old appliance (as long as it's disconnected and like for like) + appliance online can be contacted 24/7 through call centre atm. The free removal/recycling of old appliance is a big help. I've had old TV and Fridge removed on delivery of new appliance which has saved a lot of hassle with trying to dispose of old appliances.

        • appliance online can be contacted 24/7 through call centre atm.

As per my comments above, in my recent experience this means nothing. I still had to call the manufacturer directly and organise 2 service callouts, at the end of which still left me with a non working fridge.

And unless the appliance you're replacing is actually broken, you can easily throw it on gumtree for $20 and someone else will take it.

    Buy cheap, buy twice?

Cost of appliance to cost of plumber to install.

    • Yeah around $300 installation for a gas stovetop and maybe $250 for the rangehood…

      • It has a resuscitation option (requires charcoal filters), so just needs hanging on the wall and plugging in to a mains socket, if you dont want the flue option

        • +1

I found the charcoal filters that are compatible through Airvoluton. The filters that are compatible are CS100 and cost $39 + $10 delivery for 2 X filters (each lasts 6 months).

    • +1

Totally agree. I bought one (even though I measured) didn't fit. Sizes aren't uniform at all, and they often have different safety requirements regarding distances from walls and rangetops. Cost close to $500 to install due to granite top (that needed to be cut).

  • Nice

$10 cheaper if you don't need the rangehood

    • bummer
"This product is only available for customers in certain areas within NSW, ACT. Please enter your postcode, so that you'll only see products available for delivery to your area."

    • Seems like a bad deal when you can probably sell the rangehood for at least $15

  • White range hood for a SS cooktop?

  • +1

if you can install yourself buy it very cheap if you cant buy good one, tradies are not cheap to install both

    • +6

Didn't think you can diy gas. Has to be a licensed professional? As a rental what could possibly go wrong…

      • +1

if you are tradie or you got cover thats what I meant

      • Why not buy a decent quality cooktop for around $800 and get a licensed gas fitter to install it and claim it thru depreciation? Then you wouldn’t have the insurance risks involved in the DIY bodge job.

    • +2

would have thought you must be certified to install.. since gas an all?

      • Didn’t stop my neighbour with his gas hot water system “just a bit of soapy water will do “

  • Wouldn’t have a clue on how to disconnect a gas cooktop. Was hoping they’d do it all if you pay the installation fee.

    • +6

nah they just stack the new one on top

      • That's why it's called cooktop.

    • They will. Installation fee is to swap out old with new assuming like for like fitment

    • +1

YouTube will have you changing gas cooktops like a pro.

      • +5

        Don’t do this.^

        • Do the YouTube changing gas cooktops as an Amateur first. Prerequisite course before turning pro.

      • YouTube makes it a one-time view as well.

    • Need to think about the existing cut-out, what if the new Cooktop doesn't fit properly?

      • +4

        Hammer time.

      • you can use a trim if cut out is bigger

      • eBay saw time

  • yeah bought this 2-3 weeks ago, delay in orders of course.
Promised delivery date, then 1 day to the date, they postpone to another week

cheap though, considering TGG wont even deliver to affected LGAs

  • Does anyone know of any good gas top stove that is compatible with LPG or gas bottle refills?

  • +1

Gas appliances seem to be going out of favour, FYI:

"Gas appliances including heaters, hot water services and cooktops would be phased out under a proposed moratorium on new gas connections to Victorian households to help the state achieve its 2030 target to cut carbon emissions by up to 50 per cent."

Also because we are running out of cheap gas. They rather us use solar.

Pity the solar feed in tax and feet dragging on community size batteries (ones that are 10ft containers that can be based easily in suburbs)

Can combine with the targeted offer from 28 Degrees get $20 cashback when spend $100 at Appliances Online which ends 18/08/2021.

Do a licensed person need to do installation?

  • +1

I would be wary of installing gas appliances in a home, especially if I had children. Household gas - especially cooking - causes lots of indoor pollution, particularly in relation to asthma and children.

    https://www.climatecouncil.org.au/resources/gas-habit-how-ga…

    • Installation can be included for an additional $330. That price covers like for like installation where no additional work is required. If any extra work is required a quote will be provided. The cost includes disconnect and removal of existing cook top. I'm going to get a quote from a local plumber first to see if this is any good. Good thing is, you can buy the cooktop deal, set a date for later delivery i.e. a month or two, obtain quotes to make sure it will fit and how much for installation and then you can decide from there whether to have installation included or arranged through own plumber. Then you simply have the delivery date brought forward.

It's more expensive than Bunnings. Use that as a rough guide

        • Just looked up Bunnings price and it would be $259 for gas cooktop. You can only get that price though when buying cooktop through Bunnings but it's a good price comparison. The only thing Bunnings doesn't include in that price is actual disposal of old cooktop (additional cost added).

          • -1

@comeng86: If the old gas cooktop has an electrical starter, it can go in the electrical bin out the front of Bunnings, right?

            • @muncan: Not sure. Planet ARK recycling website says that Bunnings accepts small to medium 'Ewaste'. Not sure if a gas cooktop is considered 'Ewaste'. I would think it would be considered as whitegoods. Can always look up local recycling centres to see what they take and dispose of it that way.

          • +1

@comeng86: you'll get a text later telling you they wont be disposing your cooktop if you live in the LGA's in lockdown.

I guess my post was unclear - I think actually having gas appliances at all is a problem. The issues I describe are issues with gas appliances, not faulty installation.

      • +1

If you read what drillvoice said it has nothing to do with the install process.

  • -1

    It says "Natural Gas Cooktop"
Will it work on LPG from bottles? The ugly one I have is installed for that.

    • No

      • can I swap the nozzles maybe?

        • YouTube the how to guide

        • yep, nozzle and regulator. done.

  • any good deal for oven and dishwasher as well? Looking to refresh my rental

    • +1

Just look in the budget sections on Appliances Online. Usually they will have some cheapies at a very reasonable price. If your really lucky, you might find a name brand at a budget price.

  • +1

WTF is Esatto? It sounds like an Aldi brand…
For things like this I 'd rather pay the extra for a brand name with the backing and support of a bricks and mortar store. Online is great for a lot of things, but no-name cooktop with different colour rangehood ain't one of them.

    • I take your point. Its the first I've heard of this brand as well. I looked Esatto up and It's an Australian company that designs the products in Aus and obviously manufacturers offshore to being the price down. The company is based in Vic and they have contact numbers listed on website and company address. Even with buying well known brands from bricks and mortar stores you can still have issues and most bricks and mortar stores don't really want to know you once they make a sale. You can buy a Stainless steel rangehood but unfortunately that's not included for free. Because it's an investment property I'm willing to give this brand a go and see how it goes.

  • +1

Good enough to put in an investment property or for a house your currently renovating and flipping it. Can't be worse then some of the crap that is sold in Bunnings.

  • +2

$330 is a bit rich for installation though…ask a few local plumbers. I'm sure it will be around ~$150 mark.
