LG Series 9 WV9-1412W 12kg Front Load Washing Machine $1175 C&C /+ Delivery @ The Good Guys

LG Series 9 12kg Front Load Washing Machine with Turbo Clean 360

HN is selling it for $1195 but if you go to The Good Guys Website it is advertised for the same price but you should get a Price Beat pop up offering it for $1175.

Also eligible for store credit bonus if purchased by 15/08/21 (ie today).

On sale more than $100 less than a deal I found on here from earlier this year.

HN have it listed for the same price as the 9kg Series 9 LG. So seems like a decent deal if you can live without the "black steel" look in favour of increased capacity.

Maybe get some Ultimate gift cards better option than price beat HN.

    • Can we do both? But then you'll need lots of card

I've got this - take the 12kg with more than a grain of salt. The usual witchcraft method of determining large capacity machines.

    • How do you find the machine overall?

Our 11 year old Whirlpool is finally starting to bite the bullet and is 7.5kg.

Was looking at a 9kg machine, but this seems to be the same price as the 9kg so figured may as well stump up for the larger size.

Was tossing up between LG and Bosch but leaning more towards the LG at the moment.

Seems fine. I went from an 8.5kg Samsung which was still in perfect condition after 10 years. Only because I wanted hot & cold input hoses to use my solar heated water (BTW Bosch only have a cold hose). Bit silly really - not sensible economically to replace the old one. I'd probably go for one of the better model Bosch if I wasn't wanting the hot hose.

I also thought a big one would be better as I wash big loads not very frequently.

I asked LG what is different about the 12 over the smaller ones given the drum size seems hardly any bigger - they were a bit stumped, but guessed more durable components. As usual there's very few cycles that you can put in 12kg. Any special cycle its much reduced ( same for all machines though).

It lets you know on your phone when it's done.

I got the matching heat pump dryer too. Only used that once, but it's good (expensive). Planning for the future when I can't be assed hanging out washing or if I get caught with a string of bad drying days.

        • Thanks for that.

I'll take a look at Bosch again while I'm in the Good Guys… I do like the idea of the auto dose system for the detergent but not at the cost of a couple hundred dollars extra if there's not other benefit. Heard mixed reports on build quality of the newer models, even the ones coming out of Germany so has made me a little cautious.

Our hot water is gas but we have solar for electricity so cold only wouldn't be an issue for me.

@Silent-BoB: It's really hard buying stuff that you only need every 10-20 years. All the brands and quality change. What is rubbish then, may be good now and vice versa.

            • @wfdTamar: Yeah, bit the bullet and got the LG delivered for $1175 from another store. My local Good Guys was relocating and I couldn't be bothered driving half an hour to another Good Guys so haggled down another local store on the price.

@Silent-BoB: I have been using the same washing machine for about a month now and I really like it.
I have no complain at all. It does the job just fine. I love getting notification and setting up timer.
When I get up in the morning, the machine has already finished washing.

                • @squall3031: Awesome. Getting ours delivered tomorrow. Seems like a decent upgrade on our current washer.

    • It's all relative, when I was looking at these the drum on the 12kg was a decent bit bigger, and deeper than the same model in 9kg next to it.

      • but not 33% bigger I bet. If the machine is made to fit a standard space (about 600Wx600D mm) there's only so much room the drum can expand into. You have to go for one of the overall bigger machines to get a really bigger drum that matches the claimed capacity.

        • It was actually a bit deeper than the smaller capacity models, can't recall by how much though.

    • @wfdTamar Can I ask if you got this exact model because when I check the manual there's only 1 cold supply hose so I assume the machine has self heating capability. I actually want just cold water supply and prefer to have the machine heat the water itself. Can you elaborate more on this? Does this machine NOT have the self heating feature?

      • Yes, this exact model and only 6 months ago. Has both hoses, as do most (all maybe, but I didn't look at smaller models) LG's.

So it can take in hot water from your hot water service, but it must have an element too as some cycles are up to 95 degrees (and it has the steam feature). If you don't want to use water from your HWS just turn off the tap for it. I'd be looking at the Bosch too (though expensive in larger sizes).

Anything over about 9kg you'd want to actually measure the interior of the drum to see if they really are bigger.

I have LG 10kg inverter direct drive front loader machine purchased 5 years ago from TGG. So far spend more than $500.00 for repairs during the 5 year period. No issues with the motor though which has 10 year warranty. Next time going to buy Bosch machine hopefully more durable.

    • I was leaning towards LG as I had some people tell me that Bosch isn't as durable as it use to be… Seems most appliances now are built as disposable goods sadly

Still waiting for my 15 yo 7kg LG front loader to die :\ Would like a bigger washer but, can't bring myself to do it. No doubt it will outlast me …
