  • Im looking at a second hand item on eBay that is on auction.
Is there anyway to tell if it would be eligible for the 15% off? Or is it a gamble and you find out if you win the auction and are in checkout?

  • +1

A couple of my ac's won $100 each auto applied to the accounts : Congratulations!
You're one of our secondary winners for the eBay Plus $1M in gift cards giveaway.*

    $100 Gift Card

Check guys Ebay messages from them .

  • Just picked up a preowned Xbox series s from EB for $388. Will be great as a gamepass box to go with my series x that's in the lounge room. :)

  • Can someone let me know about the partial gift card payments trick and separate retailers?

If I buy $400 and $605 from 2 diff retailers can I checout out with a $1000 gift card or do I need a combination of $600 and $395 cards for each retailer?

    • $1000 gc will be tied to your account as a form of payment. So you can pay for any transaction with it.

      • Some people have said they were unable to apply the code when they had items from different retailers. Best to test this out to see if the code works before buying the gift card.

You are supposed to be able to use a maximum of 7 gift cards (and 1 voucher such as the afterpay code) but this comment said they were only allowed to do 5. So make sure the gift card denomination is able to cover that.

      • I haven't been able to select amounts with gift cards - I can only tick which one - ie if I have $1k in cards it will pay for the full amount, I can't select $600 on card, $5 on Afterpay.

        • Yeah that's right. So better to have lower denominations in that case.

  • My afterpay account got froze when i tried to purchase something on ebay, anyone in a similar boat? as working fine last night and i even paid all my afterpay bills off too

    • I just apply Afterpay account today and try to use it to pay something from ebay and it will not let me. I want to buy something which is $650 and which give me a saving for $115. Looks like I will miss out now. Very frustrated.

    • If I purchase up to $600 ebay gift card and only use afterpay to pay for the remaining $30. Do you think I will still get rejected?

  • +1

When is this going to end?

    • +1

      damn just ended

      • +2

FARRRKRKRKK it was in my cart

        • +4

          Just ended whilst checking out.

Far out! I thought it was going to be around midnight when they were going to kill the code.

BTW, how long do eBay gift cards last for?

          • +3

@DoctorCalculon: Same… I was checking out and found the code didn't work anymore too. What a random friggin' time to end it
My ebay GC lasts till 2024 (gotten via cashrewards)

            • @aragornelessar:

My ebay GC lasts till 2024

Checked the 13-digit number on eBay. Same as you (Aug 2024).

              gotten via cashrewards

Unfortunately, only 1% discount at the moment.

              • @DoctorCalculon: The Choice Gift Card was 1.5% according to Cashrewards - swapped that for eBay GC. Gotta admit I'm not sure if it was the best way, but I thought I had to hurry cause I had an hour till the Afterpay Deal ended… turns out I rushed for nothing :( Gotta keep these cards somewhere safe now I guess

      • +2

should be ending in midnight, guess they ended it an hour early

        • +5

Yet the AFTERPAY 15% OFF advertising is still on the website. That's completely messed up.

          • +2

@Ebaygiftcards: They are breaching their own T&Cs, no? ;)
The code should be alive whilst the banner is displayed. I cleared my browser cache, and then logged back in. The banner is still displayed.

            • @DoctorCalculon: Their online help is only till 7pm as well. Wonder if it's an automated system that's set to daylight savings time, so it ended an hour early?

              • +1

                @pixxelpusher:

Wonder if it's an automated system that's set to daylight savings time

Makes sense, as I was checking out just after 11PM when the checkout page refreshed twice.

                • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Same, I had just finished getting ebay vouchers and going through checkout. Everything was ok, got to the Afterpay page and it had the full amount on it. So quit that page and refreshed the ebay checkout to start again, then it gave the error when entering the code.

Read Ebay's T&C for the promotion and they do say it should be valid as long as the promotion is on the site:

Offer Period. This offer commences at 07:00 (AEST) on 19 August 2021 for a limited time only, for as long as it is advertised by eBay on the eBay.com.au website (“Offer Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

                    @pixxelpusher:

eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

"eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time, but will continue to display the promotion on the site to taunt last minute shoppers." 🤦🏻😭

  • +3

I just got the same error message using the after pay code. I thought we had till midnight? I've tried a few products now and just get the same error:

Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order.

Was going to checkout my cart in the last hour, now seems to be over!!

    • +2

Yep I'm experiencing the same issue now. Touching base with eBay Support in relation to this

      • +1

What's the webpage you're using to contact support? I wouldn't mind contacting them as well.

        • It was on their live chat on the help section. The person who I spoke to was not much of help and just advise me to contact eBay Australia…after wasting almost an hr of my time!

          • @nick90:

just advise me to contact eBay Australia

Wait… What! I thought you were on the live chat with eBay AU.
Is this what passes for help from eBay these days?

Thanks for the heads up, mate.

  • Even Shopback lists as ending midnight tonight:

    https://www.shopback.com.au/afterpay-day-sale

I've now got $400 worth of vouchers. When's the next big sale?

  • +2

    Code no longer working??

    • +2

That is correct. I'm trying to get in touch with ebay support about this. But so far, I haven't gotten anywhere with their online chat.

      • +2

online chat is only until 6 or 7pm, no?

        • +1

Yep 7pm on weekends. This is BS!

  • +5

I'm trying to purchase a new ryzen cpu and now the coupon is no longer valid…despite the afterpay ads being present all over their website. What a crock of horse s**t

  • +1

I used live chat this morning and it seemed like they didn’t know how people had this problem. They’ve “escalated” my concern and will get back to me. Not holding my breath as I’ve found eBay far less flexible compared to day Amazon etc

    • They will just fob you off

    • I got the same spiel of this issue being escalated to our technical team when I contacted live chat

    • Likewise. Was told my name was "added to the affected list" - so I assume they've had a few reports at this point.

  • I tried the chat and they are asking me for screenshot which i forgot to took. If anyone has taken the screenshot, would you mind sharing it.
    Cheers

    • I took a bloody video to document the whole process, from the home page to checkout. Luckily I did, as the rep tried to dismiss the screenshot of the checkout page, arguing that the code didn't work because the listing itself didn't display the AFPYDY15 promotion code in its secondary heading. My video showed that the item I wanted to buy was from the actual promotion's search page itself (after clicking the Afterpay promotion banner), and managed to take a screenshot of that to send to them.

      Those bastards.

I'm still waiting for a resolution though.

      • +1

        The rep's resolution?

"For future reference please try to use voucher code prior 24 hours of expiry date."

What a bloody joke this mob is.

        • I would honestly warn them about reporting eBay Australia to the ACCC….not that it will do much but least if enough people complain, it could start an investigation. I was in contact with them again today and was advised "The technical team is looking into the issue for me and are advising me as soon as possible"

        • What a bloody joke this mob is.

Damn straight. Did you mention this clause within the T&Cs?

Offer Period. This offer commences at 07:00 (AEST) on 19 August 2021 for a limited time only, for as long as it is advertised by eBay on the eBay.com.au website (“Offer Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

There is no explicit end date listed.

          • @DoctorCalculon: There was before, they removed it, like always making the ending date vague so you never know exactly when it will end.

  • If anyone got a phone number for eBay Australia, please let me know.

    • 1800 322 928

EDIT: Just found this number is useless as they no longer allow you to speak directly with a member of their support team. You have to use the website / app.

      • The phone option only works if you arrange for them to call you.

        • I remember there was a call back option.
Is it still around since I could not find it anywhere, i.e. all I could see was [Chat].

          • @DoctorCalculon: It's still there. It appears depending on the time of day, and also what options you select (e.g. Buying, Selling, Account etc.)

  • -1

Don't waste your time if the code wasn't active you have missed the boat .
Unbelievable you really think Ebay will do something hehe :)
Previous deals of this it didn't even make it to the last day advertised .

    • Unbelievable you really think Ebay will do something hehe :)

      Damn right.
At the same time, if you don't say anything they will keep finding elegant ways of screwing with us next time.

  • Thought I'd have a go with ebay customer service, this is about as far as I got:

    Sachin:
Please understand that promotions are system generated. When promotion is rolled out, it is generally for mass members. So there is no window of opportunity for us to edit manually or create a promotion. We carry out such campaigns frequently and there is always a chance that you will be in one of the future groups for which we would target next campaign.

    Sachin:
I have mentioned your account for next after pay promotion. You are always recommended not to wait for the last moment of the promotion and take the benefit as earliest as possible.

    Sachin
We received the same feedback from other members and we will roll out another promotion for all once again.

    Sachin
That's correct. We apologies for this inconvenience. I see the promotion ended 1 hours early.

    Sachin
There must have been some issue. I can't really comment on this at this moment. But surely get the clarification for you. We will surely get back to you with the clarification.

    Sachin
eBay always comes up with many surprises and we always look further to see smile on face of the members. I am quite optimistic that you will receive AfterPay promotion soon as we frequently roll out voucher promotions. Please understand that vouchers are promotional and system generated. When promotion is rolled out, it was for mass members. So there is no window of opportunity for us to edit manually or extend the expiry date. We carry out such campaigns frequently and there is always a chance that you will be in one of the future groups for which we would target next campaign.

—- I then got transferred to a "specialist"

    Snigdha
I have checked the details and would like to share that your issue needs attention from one of our specialised team. I will forward your query to them and they will get back to you soon.

    Snigdha
I am escalating the concern and would like to assure you that we will get back to you soon with the update. Also, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

I've also reported it to Afterpay, maybe they can squeeze ebay a bit
