I honestly was able to get one, but I just passed. Its ridiculous to see it on low stock for this long time since release. I now look at it as a marketing tactic to keep people hungry to buy it.

No… electronic component shortages. It's impacting every OEM out there… it even hit Apple and Tesla recently. Companies that todate where bulletproof on supply regardless of how bad the situation was. So go figoure how bad things are…

Look, if you don't know anything about the great silicon shortage of 2020-2023; that's fine, but maybe just don't comment.
Sony are actually in a good position in relation to the overall state of the tech industry at the moment, and are producing far more consoles than other tech OEMs are shipping their products.
I have the right to think it my way even if it is not right. I wish everyone a good day.
Went for a 20 min nap, saved myself $749!
Managed to snag one! Not sure if this interests anyone but here's how I got mine:
- I signed up for Twitter and followed @ AustraliaPs5, put notifications ON so that you're notified whenever they're in stock.
- They confirmed that Amazon had stock on 17 Aug and so I downloaded Amazon on my mobile, signed up for the prime free trial and inputted my bank details in advance.
- It helps to save the ps5 to your wishlist as searching for it within amazon won't actually show anything. Had to google it.
- Waited…. And waited some more… Then when the notification came on my phone, went straight to the app, opened the ps5 page up and pressed Buy Now and speedran the delivery+payment part.
- Got confirmed order and nutted in my pants.
Depends on how desperate you are I guess. But hope this helps.

Yep that's how I got mine "PS5 Stock Alerts" Twitter account!
That's the one! They have an automated discord channel/bot that sends out the updates but I found that the discord notification was late; by the time I had my order confirmed the discord notification hadn't even come out. Best bet is the Twitter account with notifications bell on for all tweets.
I already failed at step 1, don't have Twitter… Guess no PS5 for me

3.5 Keep your phone on and in your hand at all times
This is what I don't get about all the people moaning about not being able to buy one. If you put a little bit of effort you can buy one. I managed to get 2 at launch for me and a friend. Another friend then wanted one last week and it took me 2 days to get one for him as well using this twitter page. I get that people don't want the effort and jsut want to be able to walk into a store and buy one on the spot but let's face it that's not going to happen for a while due to demand and shortages of components.
I set my browser to refresh the Amazon stock page every 2-3 minutes with the distill add-on, got a notification of stock back in January, one-click order had my PS5 delivered in early Feb.
Annnnd it's gone
