  • Question - do the 2 points include an ethernet port?

    • Nope only Google Assistant speakers.

  • +1

The EXTENDER units do not have an Ethernet port.

  • How do these stack up to the Deco X20?

Looking at making the jump to mesh WiFi and these and the Deco’s are on my list in the same price bracket.

    • Why wouldn’t you get the tp link x68? It’s ax3600 and currently $349 at umart. It’s a 2 unit system though.

  • New model incoming?

    • It's 2 years old so potentially? I'm holding out for one with WiFi 6 before purchasing

    • No leaks yet about a Wi-Fi 6 update. Maybe in October.

The best money i ever spend on… ever since i got this google wifi, been use it for over a year, wifi never drop out, stream 4k from my plex server is not a problem no more.

I got the tenda nova mesh system before this and it was a waste of money.

I don’t know what it is but the wifi from the router and the tenda mesh system seem to slow down over time, even web surfing, take 1-2 second after press back on the browser for the page to load.

Google wifi never give me any issue, it just simply work.
    Highly recommended

    • Nest Wi-Fi has better performance from the more RAM and a much faster CPU than Tenda Nova.

    • Same here. I have gone through numerous wifi routers over the years and after getting the Nest wifi system a couple of years ago i have stopped using ethernet for most devices. The wifi is super fast, the range is unbelievable and it is super stable, even with heaps of wifi light bulbs etc. I also use the parental controls eveyday to manage screen time for the kids. Its really easy to give them extra screen time after completing chores etc.

  • This is available on the Google Store too.

    • Cheers, will update the post

      • It's also now cheaper at OW $398 ;)

I guess to beat the price match policy

Does anyone have a strong preference on buying through Google (online), JB or OW (bricks&mortar)? Same same. I've never bought anything through Google as yet and have read some experiences. Looking to get in the coming days so I can get WiFi to the shed and watch the AFL finals series.

People prefer JB, OW so they could stack them with discounted gift cards and cashrewards/shopback making the product (a bit) cheaper, other than that I don't think there is much difference as the product is going to be the same irrespective of where you order it from

And any future issues you raise, could directly be with the manufacturer (google in this case) anyways

          • @Abadabba: Thanks Abadabba.

I'm learning about the cashrewards with Woolies EveryDay Rewards to get some JB HiFi vouchers so I can purchase the Nest WiFi. So will go down this route if the sale doesn't end beforehand.

Will probably purchase a Chromecast with Google TV direct from Google so that will give me some insight for future purchases.

  • I have the Netgear Orbi setup (RBK50) and it's gotten a bit flakey recently… tempted to change to this. People think these are good?

    • Nest Wi-Fi is a downgrade from the RBK50. What's wrong with it?

  • Hi, how can this mesh compared to Synology 2600ac? Thanks

  • Got this deal, had second thoughts about no wifi 6, no ethernet in points and points not as fast as the base but it's so good. Many devices and much bandwidth at the same time.

Very happy camper, it's been rock solid.

    Love the:
    - Inbuilt speed test
    - Device prioritisation
    - Parental controls
    - Kids love the speaker in their room too.
