GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC V2 LHR GPU $1859 + Delivery @ DCOMP

100

Gigabyte 3080 gaming oc under $1900. Not bad considering LHR bypassed. These run a bit hot but thermal pads can be changed if required. Limited quantity.

Alternatively if u are concerned about MSRP and are not allergic to SALT….then this is 3090 actually under MSRP of USD$5000 once u include GST and convert to AUD.
No more complaints about MSRP now!

    Gigashyte? No.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aACtT_rzToI

Remember it's not just the product (which in this case is shocking), it's Giga**yte's response to the problem.

Edit: You might not like what you see, but you can't neg it away.

    • Sure, they made a mistake with a power supply model. Every company does at some point, and while Gigabyte may not have handled the situation particularly well a lot of companies we still buy from have done worse. GET OVER IT.

I'd never get over being repeatedly slapped around like someone's puppet. But sure, you go for it.

U didn't say anything about gigabyte in this post though

@MaxHashrate: Didn't see it. Anyway, I think I've prob made my point.

            • @Lps: i think with the Gigabyte GPUs, the problem has been identified by many on youtube as cheaping out on thermal pads and some additional ones on the backplate.

I wouldn't lump it as catastrophic as the PSU. Those PSUs avoid like the plague as they could kill ur GPU like it did in Steves video.

              • +2

@MaxHashrate: It's that they clearly knew about the issue and continued to crap on their user base. When you get caught with your pants down you apologise, pull them back up and walk on. What Gb effectively did was continue to remove the pants, then the jocks, then push their junk in our faces.

watch the video shared above then watch below about updated case

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xts3pvbcFos

Gigabyte has been aware of this issue for months and ignored reports until recent public media exploding.
They could have fixed the issue earlier but they chose to play it down, despite a safety issue with fire hazard.
It's ture every company may make bad product, but the difference is how they handle it.
By this time, Gigabyte is still playing down the issue, and trying to lower down OPP to cover their FET design issue.
If everyone keeps quiet and ignore such cases, companies like Gigabyte would never learn the lesson and continue making unsafe product, risking everyone.

Gigabyte has been on my shit list for many years now. Quality control is terrible, and imagine trying to PR this stuff away.

    • +5

Power supplies yeah for sure dont go gigashyte as it could burn ur house down.

GPU, u can replace the thermal pads or get a new replacement card if it dies within 3 years.

I did notice PLE are having sales on GIGASHYTE PSU 850w lol

      • +1

Some retailers even intendedly bundle this particular PSU with GPU or in pre-built system.
        Like neweggs, and techfast Australia.
Someone has warned techfast this model has safety issue, but techfast assured GP-P750GM & GP-P850GM has no issue

"I quizzed them about it once and they assured me that they've used it in thousands of builds without issue so far. "

If you have a pre-built system, it's time to check what PSU inside.

    • yea i'll never buy a gigabyte product again, my 3080 vram thermals are terrible

      • i picked up a gigabyte gaming oc waterforce yesterday. Will be testing it soon to see what vrams are with watercooling

  • MSI gone

    What a fire deal.

  • Cheaper here if you don't mind waiting (pre-order) https://www.ple.com.au/Products/647307/Gigabyte-GeForce-RTX-…

  • THAT Colorful Kudan card!

  • Is the MSI a better deal than the Gigabyte? The MSI seem to have a slower boost clock but everyone's saying Gigabyte is cr*p.

    I can't believe I just paid $1900 for a gpu… I feel dirty

  • LHR bypassed

Partially bypassed, mostly through clock speed and bandwidth being adjusted, and some of that seems to fool the limiter.

It's gone up from 50% to 70%, but you could argue the jump from 50% to 60% is purely clock optimisation, so it's really not any great leap forward.

Price of ETH has been on the rise though.

    • i think this is just the start. if they can have a 40% increase then it will only go up from here.

I would imagine nvidia will start having a LHR 2.0 which will be stronger for the next newer batch of cards

      • +1

What I'm trying to convey is it's probably not a bypass, it's just a more efficient use of the constraints.

They have to write their own firmware and driver branch to beat it, and that will cost a sizeable amount of money.

If needed, NVIDIA will of course update their mechanism as time goes on, but this isn't a huge threat right now.

ETH will hopefully be PoS before the RTX 40 series.

  • Can someone tell me what the go is with NON-LHR cards? Are non-LHR cards limited to LHR standards via driver updates or are they exempt regardless of driver updates?

  • I have the v1 of this card and it is a beast. My card had more thermal pads than the initial batches but I still replaced them all and got a minor improvement to thermals, it's not as big of an issue as it previously was

    • they say u need to add to the backplate to see big gains as the heat kind of gets trapped there

      • That's right, and mine had some pads on the back already. They weren't all directly behind the vram but it was much more than I'd seen in photos of earlier cards

  • Out of stock for delivery. Just missed out

  • It would be more profitable to mine rvn than bother with 70% eth
