The best 3080?! Far from it.

      • +7

        Bruh

      • -1

Yes… but it costs as much as a 6900 XT, a card that competes with the 3090.

        • +2

          a 6900xt is not even a competitor to 3080, let alone 3090

@Void: yes, people don't pay $2k for a gpu just to get high frame rate, they want dlss, ray tracing, nvenc encoding, 4k gaming, etc.

6900xt is more for competitive gamers that only cares about fps and not visual or other uses

    • It's pretty far up there actually with a 400w PL and the VRMs to power it (with only say the strix OC or flashed FTW XOC bios going to 450, both overheating with xoc bios at stock, needing a full custom loop and waterblock which is +$1000 or so), seeing as there is no 3080 HOF, Kingpin etc with stupid high values in excess of 500 - even if they did exist you'll only notice a difference with shunt modding/epower/ln2, as no hybrid card can cool those numbers, and even loops start to struggle.

  • +3

    Ehhhhhh

  • +15

Not even close to 'exception value'

    • +8

      Agreed

    • -4

this is pretty much the msrp of this model

      • May be you are right as it's a liquid cooling GPU. But it's competing with other 3080s which has the MSRP of 1400.

        • +1

you either pay $1700 for a low end air cooled model or you pay $2000 for this, i know what I would do

  • I concur

  • +11

    Terrible price

  • +5

AIO and it's still slower clock speeds than a 3080 Strix.

Not even close to the best 3080

    • +2

factory clock boost doesn't mean anything

      • Definitely shows they are not very goods cards if stock speeds are slow as fk.
It's well known Strix cards are one of the best binned chips and achieve the higher clock speeds

        • +1

lol I have 3080 strix oc, vulcan x, gaming x trio

strix has a much higher factory boost than other cards, with proper tuning they perform about the same on 3dmark timespy, strix is actually slightly worse since its cooler is terrible. If you waterblock the strix then I would agree that it's the best but not with the factory cooler

that's why this is the best bang for buck gpu, an msrp strix is $1800 + $200 waterblock + more watercooling gear to equal to this card performance

note that this card is just a vulcan x watercooled

          • -3

            @ln28909:

If you waterblock the strix then I would agree that it's the best but not with the factory cooler

Thanks for admitting i am correct.

Also if your going to try and flex, don't use a 3080 haha

            • +2

              @Axelstrife: lol i don't, they are for mining, i use a 3090

if you want to flex, flexing is with how much money you spend on RAM and cooling, that setup you have is pretty generic

                @ln28909: 32gb 3600 CL14 Trident Z $498 from newegg - https://i.ibb.co/qsJskNd/ghchgfhgfhgf.png

Cooling right now just standard Arctic 280mm aio for cpu and air cooling for GPU in an NR200 ITX Case, ordered all parts from EK/formulamod for Custom Loop last week just waiting for the active backplate to get back in stock at EK before that ships as it's backordered.

My parts overlap cause i change it up all the time and I'm not sure what's even is the point of this lol

  • +9

    Exceptional Value 😂

  • +7

    Lol

  • This is a nice model of 3080 for sure and will compete with a 3080ti when OC’ed. It’s just such a shame that it needs 3x 8 pins as my old Seasonic 1000xp only has two 8 pins available, damn.

  • +3

Waste of time posting this 😂

  • +4

Actually, not a bad price but I'm going to hold until 2077

  • +2

lmao @ the use of exceptional…reminds me of plebs using this buzzword in WoW when theyre recruiting for guilds

  • +2

Get off the glass Harley this isn't a good price

  • People have reported that one-click OC button falls off quite easily

    • Are they using the button to train their forearm muscles?

    • i have the 2080ti vulcan and 3080 vulcan, works fine

  • +2

Nothing about this is "exceptional value"

  • Ehhh this ain't it.

  • Can anyone recommend any mid tower cases for this?

Limit for me is ~510mm depth

Any of these recommended? Hard to choose

    P500A
    P600S
    5000D or X
    H710i

    • +1

personally would go with the 5000D, looks great and airflow should be good too

      • Thanks here’s a video of the Neptune in rainbow colour mode

Planning to move my non-LHR to a case one day :)

        https://imgur.com/a/a1Rnvgp

There can’t be that many in Australia of these the water cooled Neptunes only came out a few months ago?

It’s a great card and according to this video it has top shelf VRM’s

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_VC_00wcMU

How did you find your Vulcan did you get good memory clocks out of it?

        • Yeah I think so, and my Vulcan max out at +1400, can't remember what that equate to in mem clock

  • Yikes

  • OP this is in stock not pre-order anymore

  • Why so much hate on this card? From the reviews I've seen they're really good.

    Is it the price?

    • +1

Just pure ignorance from STRIX fanbois

      I paid $2400 for a non-LHR a month ago

This is an awesome card with top shelf components

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_VC_00wcMU

I'm going to mount it vertically in an O11 Air case when it comes out (should be this month) and it's going to look nice and keep cool in summer

      • thanks, will give it a proper watch shortly.

Is there any issue if the radiator is mounted close to the card, so the exhaust from the rad is blowing onto the cooling block? (I'm newish to AIOs)

I have a NR200P case with a NZXT Kraken Z53 which is currently side mounted although ultimately once I get around to modding the case will be top mounted. I then want to use the glass side panel, so this would need to have the radiator bottom mounted, with the gfx card installed right behind the radiator.

        • Actually probably won't go this way - apparently having the radiator below the water block is bad as air bubbles will live in the pump instead of collecting at the top of the radiator, which will drive more noise and potentially damage the pump over time.

          • +1

            @Domingo: Yes it's not a good idea

The only way to do that safely apparently is to have the hoses go above the card and down to the rad so the bubbles collect in the tubes

If you're spending $2000 on a graphics card it's a bit of a false sense of economy to save $100-200 on a new case

Several new cases now have spaces for top, side, and front mounted radiators

            • +1

@s3n: Good thought, although I only just built my SFFPC (pending a GFX card) and I'm not desparate to get this model specifically, so might wait until a different card deal comes along.

Thanks for the advice, very much appreciated.

              • +1

@Domingo: Ah ok I didn't realise that was a new case you have

Triple fan is more than enough for a 3080 assuming the card has good thermal pads (or you DIY the pads) and airflow is ok and cheaper too so that'd probably suit better
