        • But thats wrong, you don't save money.

Parking is another thing all together.

Sam - how is parking costs not a cost of driving a car??? No car no parking costs, so parking is definitely not "another thing all together".
And yes, you save money. I gave up my vehicles & am saving a lot of money & working less.
Anyway, I had a great FREE day on the beach. Work - another thing all together.

Don't forget, parking includes the cost of the real estate taken up at home to house the vehicle(s). That can be quite a percentage of the house & costs - similar in value to someone paying shared rent, maybe $150/wk.

Now I have the second largest room in my home back & making good use of it.

I'll think of that extra luxury as someone drives me to work, over the frustration of sitting in stalled traffic, finding a parking space, and getting pissed off finding some miserable sod has dented my car again (maybe less than the excess, but dear enough).

      • 40 hours? You might want to check FairWork Australia's site.

      • Seems there is much to change in your life. Maybe take more control.

The study was part of Illich's examination of lfe lived in different ways. A 40 hour working week is not the only way. He noticed peasant seamstresses had the manual dexterity to undertake complex medical operations, but were barred from such an occupation in which they could excel. He suggested different ways to structure our lives, to think differently. Zen Masters approaches are similar.

My clients have benefited from such an approach, whether they were a Minister of Government, training for the Olympics, or senior executive. Think the same as everyone, get the rewards the same. Think differently like my successful clients, and the success is greater & totally fulfilling!

    • Discussed Ivan Illich's ideas with a transport engineer on a bus on Friday. You can have some interesting discussions on public transport, even about dead engineer/economists!

    wow, what a deal.

$10 of free -but still overpirced- transport.

really offsets the $70 of lost wages due to being late today.

Make them bleed for your loss:

I quite enjoyed my day out at the beaches, on the buses & trains of SEQLD. Had a nice sleep on the train to the coast. I travel on public transport around the world, & ours is pretty good. Overseas travellers I spoke to said they thought it was great.

    • You were 7 hours late!? :P

Better than nothing, not like you get any freebies when your late because of rain delays, or previous public transport delays.

Remember, this is 'ozbargain'… so if it saves someone a couple of dollars, $10, $22 (like one of my work collegues) then this is a saving! I was 35mins late, i just worked through most of my lunch break, i'm sure you enjoyed todays free trip..!
      Not worth negging for :(

At least one day should be free in a year!!!

  • 100% not neg worthy, I bet it will be packed but I will still take advantage of the free transport

IMO Public Transport should be FREE anyway. It's a SERVICE not a business! Our fares only contribute a small percentage to running costs and I assume the infrastructure in place to control & police fares would cost a fortune to implement and maintain. Cover the outside of Trains with advertising for extra income (as they already do with buses) and in turn save millions in cleaning Graffiti (even though I kinda like a lot of it). Spend less on building multi-Billion dollar tunnels that hardly get used and channel that money into making Brisbane/Queensland Public Transport the best in the world! My 2c rant ;)

My trip today will cost less than your rant ;)

its probably free because their payment system could not handle 29th feb properly :P

One drawback is that it means I'll be only making 8 Go-Card trips this week - so won't get the free trips on weekend :/

    • You are the ones that lost in this. Still won't cost any more than other weeks though.

This ruined my day being a Taxi Driver on the GC. Great Deal though…. Migth just head down to robina after work. :)
