For anyone chasing a Series S there's four in stock at $381.

Not 100% sure on the quality of EB Games refurbs, but seems like a decent way to get a Series X discounted.
Given that the consoles weren't released all that long ago, I figure they could even just be returned units that couldn't be resold

    I've bought one of these a few months ago, came in the original box and was in really good condition. But then one of my friends got one which showed a bit of wear and also came with a white controller.

    Hit and miss depending on how the original owner treated their consoles. You would think most would be in decent knick though.

    Console is easily worth the ful rrp. And with 4K UI coming out it looks great would recommend this over ps5 especially with the catalogue starting next year and 2023

      How did it even get designed in 1080p when it would’ve taken zero extra work to have the project in 8k or something

        From recollection their thought process was that the increased memory usage of 4k and 8k UI assets didn't make sense when it could be freed to to let games use more. Guessing they've changed their minds but honestly, who cares if the dash is 1080p when you should be in game 99.9% of the time, lol

    Really scummy for ebgames to take down the auction just because it was posted on ozbargain. The afterpay code wouldn't have cost them any more than a normal sale.

      I will have a go, kids estranged parents both trying to score points with him both rush out for Xmas and get him a series x and he ends up with 2. After a number of months he decides he'd rather swap one for a ps5, so he saved up and trades in.

      Yeah there's definitely some creative writing going on there to think of a reason why this would happen so soon

        I don’t think they were questioning the timing, more the fact that a second hand Series X right now can likely be sold for RRP, maybe even more that RRP if still presentable.

          Yeah I can understand why people would want to take it back or even go for a PS5 instead!

          Just strange as because if they took it back to EB and got the full amount refunded, then EB sells this at a big loss.

          Or they trade it in and still have to pay for the PS5 because no way EB gives the full trade value back.

          I guess dealing with FB marketplace/ebay/gumtree is a pain for some people.

      Probably get negged for this but i dont care. Someones buys an xbox series x because they are easier to buy than a ps5. Afterwards notices theres no library for Xbox and regrets not waiting for Sony. Trades it in for a ps5 upgrade.

      I'm looking at used PS5 consoles as I type on Facebook Marketplace. Some say they are willing to swap for an Xbox?

      How do you explain this oddity? You make it sound it's a one way swap.

      FWIW I own a PS5, XSX and Switch.

        Given that you have Series X and PS5, it shouldn't be difficult to think of reasons. For children, Series X might be a better choice due to GamePass. While adults are more willing to pay a game for a long period of time, some young children do like to change games.

        I own both consoles and I am concerned about the cost of PS5 games and lack of them on discount. So far, I only purchased 1 PS5 first party exclusive and while I do want to play most of those exclusives, I am not going to spend that much on those. Also, these DLC-ish add-on repackage to sell the PS5 version practice is also not a good idea.

            @Spendmore: I'd argue Series S is probably better as it has a lot more 3rd & 1st party content, with Game Pass being amazing for the parents. But both are fantastic you can't go wrong with a Switch or Series S for a kid.

              @netsurfer: Sorry I thought you were supposed to write adults are more willing to pLay a game for a long period of time, I thought you had missed out the L instead of "for a".
              But yeah I agree kids will chop and change the more they have which is a shame really I don't think they get as much out of the games that way. Roblox is perfect, it has thousands of games under the one banner and my kids seem to gravitate back to that….while breath of the wild is half finished.
              As for swapping an XSX for a PS5 I can't think of a reason, if I wanted one of the odd exclusives on PS I would buy a PS5 to accompany my XSX rather than swap.

    already coming back as refurbished wow. I know my Xbox series X used was sold for 1000 bucks on ebay thats with 7 games included and a wireless controller offical xbox battery. So I am amazed its down to 594 and people are actually trading it on eb games.
