Slow, Slower ,Slowest Celeron processor .

Gets the job done on Chrome OS. Would avoid on a Windows machine.

      • +1

especially with the absolutely abysmal 32gb EMMC drive.

    • is it worse than the infamous HP stream?

  • +4

Horrid TN screen (seen one of these myself in store) but it's on par for the price i suppose.

For $70 more, you can get the Flex 3 with IPS touchscreen and double the storage.

      • Still only 1366 x 768. I with that resolution would just die already.

      • Thanks Mate…I order this one for my daughter to use for her online school learning.

      • +2

Second this. I have two of those, one of me and one for my school aged girl, they perform so well for daily learning tasks/meetings and some light entertainment.

This is perfect for someone wanting to apart his/her $228.

  • Love the thin bezels so modern and so 'now'

Celeron and 720p Screen in 2021, ouch.

  • +7

Yes, but it's also bottom dollar. I dunno, maybe a struggling family who needs a device for their kid to do online work might find this acceptable. Not like the kid cares about TN panels or resolutions.

I got one for under $200 as cheap secure computer for banking and stuff.

The screen is very poor. It does run a 4k monitor just fine though.

Processor is fine for basic web stuff. Reasonably quick to boot up

It does the job I got it for well but I wouldn't want to use it for a daily computer for anything.

Save yourself some cash and get a docking station for <$20 to run Android Desktop Mode off your flagship hp.
It's the same experience with ChromeOS mostly and for apps that don't support Desktop Mode, there is always a web based version you can run.
Your hp is more powerful than you think - 12gb ram and octa cores are so common in flagship phones nowadays and you wont get any performance degradation when running ADM.

    • What HP are you referring to? This is for Lenovo.

      • +1

        Fair question.

HP = "handphone" = mobile phone (Asian)
Similar to "Handy" = mobile phone (European)

        • +2

On OZB, HP is Hewlett Packard and Handy is hand-job.

Used windows laptop + more ram and ssd is a better option than this.

  • As a general guide for Chrome os the CPU is plenty fine, but the ram means you can't have many chime tabs open, and the resolution feels a bit cramped.

A 1080p ips, and 4gb of ram or more is great with chrome os. Looking at closer to 3-400 though sadly.

this? or wait for a deal on the duet?

    • Strongly recommend the duet for $300.

      • +1

        thanks man.
jumped on the flex3 for $298.
(couldn't be bothered waiting and rathered the larger screen of flex over the duet higher quality screen)
I'll let u know if I've made a horrible choice.

        • If you got from Amazon, their returns system is pretty good, first 30 days it's just clicking a few buttons and if you say it didn't meet expectations they pay the postage label.

After 30 days you can talk to support and I've never been turned down a return, I've returned too many things and I'm trying to avoid doing it too frequently.

        • Curious to know mate how is your Flex3 doing ?

          • +1

            @flyingpig: super happy with it.
for what I use it for the resolution isn't an issue and brightest is fine. speed / performance is great. no lag issues or wait times.
not sure what the big deal is about the duet screen resolution + brightest + processor speed is tbh.
if u could get them at the same price the duet is clearly better. but I do actually prefer the slightest larger screen, proper keyboard and USB A for thumb drives and a mouse.

and tbh 720p vs 1080p on such a small device is so silly. stuff like cartoons (for me Rick and Morty) makes no difference.

Who watches a blockbuster movie on a tablet anyways?

            on a side note,.
I couldn't recommend the non touch screen Chromebooks ( even the ones from JB for $129) well worth the extra $ to have touchscreen.

            • @Sapper50: Thanks mate. And was your Flex 3 or 3i ?

              • @flyingpig: Flex 3i.
I got the Goodguys to price match office works at $298 as I had TGG store credit
