Mechpro Blue Pressure Washer 2000W 2219PSI 7.8L/min - MPBPW9 - $99 + $9.90 Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Repco

1880

Great price on this pressure washer which includes a snow cannon, as advertised in their latest catalogue.

Their normal RRP is $169, as I bought one myself when Repco had 20% off and paid $135.20. Works a treat with the snow cannon on my car.

Other people have said the Ryobi one (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/644276) is a better investment with the extra warranty, but each to their own. The Ryobi one doesn't have a snow cannon though.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2021.

ouch. pretty sure I paid a lot more for a similar specd gerni without snow cannon from bunnings.

    • +10

But you bought a gerni, not mechpro. Gerni has a better build and will last a lot longer. You got what you pay for , so you should be happy

      • +5

my gerni ended up with a failed handle, long slim streak of water gushed out of the side when using. not regularly used and sitting in the garage, but mostly heavy use of 2 to 3 hours or so when used. got gerni to replace the handle within warranty though after 2 years.

      • Gerni was bought out right?

        • +22

No. The buyer got them on a 24-month plan.

        • +1

          Yeah Ozito bought them.

          • @FAIL: Einhell bought them, they also own ozito

      • +3

meh, I used to have base model karcher for 10 years without missing a beat. Ended up 'upgrading' to a Gerni just to get a few extra attachments and thinking a newer model would be better. So far it's died on me twice in 2 years with minimal car wash use (4-5 times a year). Same fault, press trigger and wait at least 30secs for the pump to kick in. Water is at full pressure with everything secured properly. I can't even return it to Bunnings due to lockdown. I don't think I really trust Gerni over any 'no name' brand anymore to be honest.

      • +1

        From Repco website:
        Metal pump

      • +2

Not always the case that you get what you pay for. Thats where bargains come in place.

      • My gerni stopped working for no reason at all as far as I can tell, googling around seems like a common issue.

        • +1

If it's the same problem as me try this…. keep pressing the trigger for up to a minute and see if it kicks in.

    • Love my Gerni and it’s metal pump - plastic pumps go brittle and crack over time.
I try to look after my things and gave away my 10 year old 110 that only had an o ring failure in that time (o rings easily available from Bunnings).

Is this good for exposed aggregate concreting?

    • +2

For cleaning exposed aggregate yes. But not enough pressure for exposing the aggregate after concreting.

      • How much psi for exposing?

        • My guess is 3000 to 4000 psi. Using sugar as commented below will definitely help.

    • Use sugar, the concrete doesn't cure on the surface and get a aldi petrol pressure cleaner.

      • +3

Tell us more about using sugar. How much, where and how? (1 teaspoon in my coffee as I work?)

        • Not that type of sugar, right? I'm thinking sugar soap?

      • -1

        What kind of sugar?

  • +1

Hows this for a range of lower pressures? I need one to clean my bike but don't want to blast grease out of the pivots.

    • +14

      Stand further away

    • +2

Good question! I was looking at this for the same reason. Does anyone know if the pressure can be turned down? or do other brands/model have variable pressure?

      • +1

        Only single pressure, not variable

      • just back off

    • Gosh id be too scared to risk this on mountain bike.. maybe a cheapy? Not that hard to clean mud off by hand for the frame… for hubs/pedals etc i just wouldnt risk a pressure washer

      Maybe im just a pansy?

      • +3

        Definitely a pansy.

        • What? No outraged pansies yet?

    • +2

It has a 'Low Pressure Function' where you "remove the nozzle from the end of the lance" - haven't tried it yet though.

    • +4

run it without the motor turning on, i.e. not connected to power.
Get decent stream (adjust the nozzle) and a good spray for general stuff.

    • +1

Definitely shouldn't clean a mountain bike with a high pressure washer.

    • I decided to go with this, was delivered in 2hrs which is really impressive. Won't use it on the bike though but don't regret buying it.

    • how about don't clean your bike. why would anybody do that?! just use chain cleaner and leave the rest alone.

    • just use a bucket/hose and follow one of the million instruction videos on MTB cleaning on youtube

  • Maybe a silly question, but, how to connect Snow canon. I have a Rockwell I bought cheap from Supercheap Auto few years back. Not sure if I can connect a cannon to it or not. Or else may need to upgrade to this. Thanks

    • +1

Bowdens Own sell a range of adapters for various brands of pressure washer

      • Thanks, do we just connect the adapter to the end or we need to remove the end of pressure washer. I couldn't remove the pressure washer end or the hose, so I didn't try. Any video lnk on how to connect will be very beneficial. Thanks

        • the adapter attaches to the foam cannon you have and then slots into the trigger handle of your pressure washer like the normal wand does. which adapter you need will depend on the pressure washer you have.

  • My good old Aldi Workzone pressure washer hose is starting to leak and the gun attachment leaking also. Noting the parts seem hard to find might just purchase this and have a new one with warranty. As above keen to see if anyone has used on motorbikes.

    • Exact same reason I'm looking, the hose on my WorkZone has cracked in multiple areas so spitting water everywhere. Was considering taking it back to Aldi but also don't want to be 'that guy'

      • Yeah mine is at least 4/5 years old. Motor is still strong so seems a waste but time I buy a new gun and hose ( from somewhere?) it is easier and probably cheaper to buy this.

      • +8

        be 'that guy'.

        • you are entitled
        • let's them know the where the product is failing so they improve

I try and repair instead of 'too hard basket -I'll just buy a new one'

      • So you're happy to pay for a faulty product because you don't want to be "that guy"?

        So weird.

      • -1

        'that guy'

Cool. You should hand in your OzBargain membership at the counter.

You buy a product for it to at least last its warranty period, if not longer.

  • +1

How does the quality of this compare to Karcher and Ryobi?

    • -5

You expecting one person with both brands?

  • +3

The Ryobi chews through the car wash dispenser. Diluting it does the same job. Really impressed by the power of the unit. Better than I was expecting for $99. Took the paint off the Mrs hubcaps….

    • How close were you for it to remove the paint? Want one for bike/car but sounds risky.

      • About 30cm away. Thought it was the dirt at first because it was silver underneath then I saw the paint flakes in the water below

  • +1

any idea if i can use this to clean my glass windows? will it break my windows ? does the pressure adjustable ?

    • I would have thought a hose gun would give enough pressure for that.

    • +5

need less pressure? Just move a step back.

  • To buy or not to buy? That is the question.

    • +13

buy and think of the consequence later… a true ozbargainer

      • +1

I just did that. $103.95 incl. delivery. Cash rewards got tracked at $2.08 hopefully will get approved.

Thanks @op for posting this here. Been looking to buy a pressure washer for last 1.5 years now. I don't have a pressure washer. Should be good for washing my car and driveway.

      • +3

Ordered 2 hours ago and it's already delivered. That was damn quick service.

        • Where tf do you live, across the street from the store?

          • @s1Lence: I bet the Repco was in the same building under the bbbmans apartment!
We have a lockdown, after all, so needed to get it delivered! 🤣

          • +1

@s1Lence: Lolz.. actually 7.7KMs from my home to the nearest Repco but damn they are quick. Check comments below, someone got it delivered in 47 mins.

  • What goes in the snow cannon, just normal car wash or do you need special stuff?

    i.e. should I get https://www.repco.com.au/en/car-care-panel/car-care/car-wash… or just https://www.repco.com.au/en/car-care-panel/car-care/car-wash…

just bought a karcher k3 2 days ago and would have bought this. I like the design and how organise the accessories are on this pressure washer.

  • +1

I just have bought it for $100 bucks with Snow canon not thinking much. NRMA discount doesn't apply with this purchase.

  • +2

Got it delivered. Thanks to @ajs900 for the tip on ignition membership bought down shipping cost to 4.95 Melbourne metro plus 2% cashback.

    • What a quick turnaround. Just got a knock on my door and it was Repco delivery. 4 hrs to the door. Not bad at all.

      • +1

That's an insanely speedy delivery service. Who is their delivery partner?

    Turbo rotary nozzle

Presume this is an oscillating head? How good is the unit at concrete path cleaning?

I've been for a year for the Bosch High Pressure Washer UniversalAquatak 125 to drop in price again, don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.

Anyone able to say how these compare?

Bosch High Pressure Washer UniversalAquatak 125 (1500 Watt, 125 Bar / 1820 PSI, High Pressure Gun, Lance, 5m Hose, 3-in-1 Nozzle and Detergent Nozzle Included, in Box)

    • +3

Good spot, a turbo nozzle usually costs at least $50 by itself so if this unit comes with one that's quite a good deal.

  • How does this compare to the Homelite $50 version from Bunnings. I know specs are slightly different, but interested to see whether this is worth the extra $50? Both have good reviews.

Foam cannon attachment can be added to the Homelite (although I'm not sure how yet) - Anybody else know?

  • Cheers, brought one too. Been looking for one for a while, saw bunnings ones for sale with poor reviews. Hopefully these are abit better.

  • Ordered Ozito pressure washer yesterday, yet to pick up. Should I cancel the order and buy this?

    • If the ozito one has a foaming attachment with similar price then you're good.

      • No does not come with foaming spray but 3 years replacement warranty is holding me back.

  • got one thanks OP

  • +1

Whoever is buying don't forget cash rewards

    • Ordered mine just before and didn't think of it till I see this comment

  • Would this be powerful enough to clean a concrete driveway? My current one is 1600psi and isn't strong enough to clean or the nozzle spread is too small to make it effective for large areas. Would a 600psi power difference be enough?

    • I think 2200 should be enough but it will take a longer and you'll have to almost put the nozzle on the driveway. If you hire this monster for 4 hours if you have a really dirty driveway that hasn't been washed for decades then use the electric one it should be fine: https://www.kennards.com.au/cleaning-and-floor-care/pressure…

      • Ah thanks, that might be a good option! Cheers!

      • Doesnt high presure cleaning concrete make the concrete kinda go grainy sandy, and is just never really the same?

        • What method do you recommend?

  • A snow cannon itself is about AU$ 20 - 25 (from overseas & waiting for shipping),
so I say this this is a good deal for what you get, eg. attachments,
but unsure about the pump (brass?) and quality of the unit's wear & tear, for longevity.

    • +3

Per the ad, it's a metal pump. Too early for me to comment on the quality of the unit's wear and tear, but I washed my 2 cars with the snow cannon and works a treat. Use Meguairs Gold Class shampoo to generate lots of thick foam.

      • what was your mix ratio to get good results with foam cannon?

        • Yes keen to know on the ratio please

  • Would this be better than the ryobi one for car cleaning since it has the snow foam attachment?

  • Thanks Ordered!

  • +2

I bought this when it was first released 8 months ago. I use it for the car mainly. Pretty good power washer and does what i need to clean the car. Quite powerful too. Build quality is not as good as the high end stuff but i cant complain for 100 bucks. Snow foam is also decent and does what i need.
