Oooh, when did they do that or did someone buy the mobile phone division? I used to love LG phones, and they even made some of the Pixel models for Google.
They announced that they would pull out of the mobile phone business around April. I don't think any company bought the division, I think they just closed it.
Just treat it as buying a phone from an overseas seller with very limited warranty. Bought some Xiaomi phones a few years ago from an overseas seller. While cheap, it was a dodgy batch. Not much could be done for it,
I don't get these low end Android phones. Why can't Qualcomm sell older generation of flagship CPUs cheap instead of these mid range or low end chipsets.
To save cost, this one uses a Mediatek CPU.
Why waste production line capacity on old chips when you can use for new chips and make more money …… I don't think the world currently has excess silicon foundry capacity
I've had mediatek phones in the past, no problems, makes calls, browses, battery life was good …..
Well, why waste time designing a cutdown / cost saving series of chips? It's not like Android CPUs are beating Apple A series silicon. Also, why so many SKUs? Snapdragon, 4 series, 6 series and 7 series. Seriously, how much suffering does Qualcomm think low end customers deserve?
@netsurfer: LOL. Just don't buy anything lower than 6 series. Generally I find 7 series is the old flagship 8 series CPUs.

Unlike the LG K52 64GB, the Oppo A53 64gb has no NFC and the main camera is only 13 MP.
Would this phone be better than a refurbished Pixel 3?

That's curious because according to this source, it doesn't:
Must be international differences. The A54 in australia also has NFC and a processor different to what is described there
Probably shouldn't buy any phones from LG anymore, especially due to the fact that they shut down their mobile phone business.
