I have the plastic 22L one for Water and there is definately a supirior diffrence in quality over the cheap crap you get from Bunnings or from other manfucaturers.

I can't see the info on it to confirm but my Water Jerry Can was Australian made, not sure if this one is too so someone may need to confirm.

Is it safe to carry fuel in Jerry can in a car?

    • +1

Probably not long term given the internal car temp can vary so much.

      • How do you use it personally? Do you fill it up when fill is cheap and then keep it in your garage? When your tank is about quarter full, use the fuel in Jerry can to refuel? And then bring it to petrol station for the next refuel?

I dont use / have it. Just saw it and posted because it seems like a good deal.

All sound like good ideas to me or even if you want to have some on hand in case of emergency.

There is another option at Aldi in a few days..

Last year, Bunnings was selling this for $29.99 after ALDI listed it for the same price.

This just get better and better. I can see Bunnings try to compete with aldi for many products like drills etc

    • +2

Yes, but I posted this deal because Aldi and Bunnings quality is meh by comparison.

Better to spend a little extra and it works instead of cheaping out and having fumes / petrol leak in your shed / garage.

These are one of those items you don't really want to compromise on quality.

      • Is the product on supercheapauto better because it is a better brand? The bunnings version also offers anti leak etc. I read on google not to carry these one full or empty in car due to potential explosion from vapour. Anyone wants to share their story of using a Jerry can to save on fuel costs?

It's better because it's made in Australia to meet Australian Standards AS/NZS 2906:2001.

It's also been tested and used by Aus military.

Aldi and Bunnings is cheap made in China stuff.

Edit: Updated post to also include link to petrol version.

@vash5: You convinced me supercheapauto is better.

            • @htc: As i have just learned, its actually NOT made in Aus, but is is made to Aus standards.

  • $39aud at bunnings.

After reading more about jerry can, I decided not to purchase. My aim was purely to save cost on fuel due to fuel cycle. But storage and transportation can post a risk while the rewards are much less than that, also fuel quality can go bad overtime and will be bad for the engine. I guess this is a good and safer product if people go on camping and use petrol to generate electricity. Definitely good for the military as you can't refuel at petrol station while you are at war. Great post though, if I ever really need one, I will only get the military grade one, not the aldi or the bunnings.

    • Thanks for posting this mate.. much appreciated :)
