Free Taxi Ride to Vaccination Appointment (Up to $25 in Fare) @ Rydo

331
LETSVAX

Hi all.
Hoping this will be useful for some.
Received email from Rydo which is a regular taxi booking app that they are offering ‘free rides’ to your GP or vaccination centre for your Covid jab. Seems to be a $25 max so not exactly free for everyone. Book by using voucher code in Rydo app or by phone.
Not sure if this is a safer transport option as I have no idea of vaccination/ testing status for cab drivers.

To assist the Government's commitment to providing all Australians with access to free, safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, Rydo is offering free taxi rides to authorised vaccination hubs and GPs in order to ease the pressure on the community during these difficult times.
Use code LETSVAX on the Rydo app or call 131 001 to place a booking - conditions apply.

Will they drop me back after?

    • +3

Good question. I hope it isn't a ONE WAY trip!

      • It is a one way trip, but if you post your selfie in a Rydo taxi on your way to your vaccination and post it with #vaxxedinarydo you will get another $30 Rydo voucher.

So that’s essentially your return trip.

        (got this from their email)

        • yeah, but i wonder how long that takes to come back…

        • +18

It is a one way trip

Lots of people have little or no side effects from the vaccination…

          • @jv: Lots do

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: yeah - I did. But tipping I'd have more of a reaction to the real thing.

        • -1

So I have to post a photo of myself just to get a return trip? Yeah nah.

    • Yes, feet first 👍

    • +1

Will they drop me back after?

It might depend on the result of the vaccination.

      • +4

        They'll drop you dead.

        • Great y the one way ride

  • +2

So free cab ride if your destination is near a gp or vax centre….nice

    • +1

Or $25 off the cost if it’s more than a $25 cab ride

Not concerning at all, looks like the antivaxers, tinfoils finally managed to get metal into the vaccines so for "once" their theories come true.

Anyway, selfie time! Ready for my 5th booster! Hell yeah! 🤘

antivaxers, tinfoils finally managed to get metal into the vaccines

Authorities need to start cracking down on these nut cases…

They have no right to live freely in our society, preaching their rubbish and risking people's health…

    • -7

Yep. Wasn't all the snark from pro-vaxxers disgusting? "Nerr, as if the vaccines have magnetic material in them!" They mocked for months in response to the videos showing this in Mexico et al.
Now, thanks to the meticulous Japanese (I have many Japanese clients, they are meticulous), we find out that in fact, yes, the vaccines CAN have magnetic material in them. And its very very bad.

      • +1

Ah well, they must be a bit more cautious with future batches, looks like someone miscalculated the metal particle size that's acceptable, invisible and immunity boosting! When we're on metal subject i need to see and increase my iron consumption 😉

      • +2

By “the vaccines”, you mean two cases of a batch of Moderna are suspected of becoming contaminated, after being bottled by the Spanish company Rovi.
You could use the same logic to say all adults are serial killers.
Also, you say it’s “very, very bad”, why? There have been no adverse reactions reported. I think you would be absolutely shocked if you knew what was in your food, cleaning products, air and water.

A pandemic you have to bribe people with things like this or force them or manuplate them with coerce tactics just so they can get the vaccine

Better than the $10 discount DiDi gives you. 10 minute drive cost me $15 (-10) yesterday, then the trip back was $26 (-$10)

    • +1

This doesn't look like it would be better than the Didi offer for you at all. The trip there will be free $15 (-$25 credit) so $0 and the trip back is still going to cost you $26 as its a one time credit.

      Didi - $21
      Rydo - $26

Not to mention Rydo (Aka taxis) are going to cost you more for their fare anyways

      • +1

        Shouldn't his best strategy be to take Rydo to ($15 - $15) and Didi back ($26 - $10) = $16?

Or, better still, suppose Rydo code works for inbound/outbound, then: take Didi to ($15 - $10) and Rydo back ($26 - $25) = $6.

        • Yeah but i wasn't talking about using both together, obviously any smart Ozbargainer would use both :).
They were saying that this deal is better than the Didi deal, when it isnt for their use case. The Didi deal basically just gives you 2x $10 credits to use on 2 separate rides where the Rydo deal gives you 1x $25 credit to use on the inbound.

But if you can use Rydo for outbound then that actually works out better. I havent looked into this Rydo deal but if its like the Didi deal then it will just be a $25 credit to the account and you can use however you like, for a vax or not. I dont think it actually shows up on the drivers end that youre using a vax coupon and even if it did they wouldnt care, a fare is a fare for them.

So, you are bullying and dividing your customer base

NEXT - I'll just get the same Rydo driver to change to a cab service. Proving to me why I won't need to get the vaccine, Idiots

    • +3

So few words, but so many questions…

What’s the bullying and dividing? They are offering a voucher, you don’t have to use it.

How does changing from Rydo to a regular cab service prove you don’t need to get a vaccine?

    • +2

Im so confused by this - so youre going to book a Rydo cab - but then not use the $25 discount code and instead pay the full amount to the cab service (the same company) to try and teach them a lesson? So youre going to give them even more money and business instead of using the free service they are offering?

I might stand outside the Apple shop and start throwing money inside because of how disgusted i am of them of their service, that will show them.

      • -1

let me explain to the ppl who don't have social skills because they sit behind a computer all day
The Rydo driver will come and would not be vaccinated himself. I tell him im not vaccinated but the Rydo cost me $20. Make it a cab fare and Ill give you $20.

        He agrees.

We become friends and then he takes me to the local Chicken shop, and we eat Chicken and garlic together. I get his number and next time I need a lift I call him directly. I will save more than $20 over time

        Rydo discount plus. Black service

        • +2

          We become friends

You'll break into a Rydos car at midnight. Do you go for the Vac centre? No, you go full fruitloop. It's priceless. As you're busy rambling nonsense, the Rydo driver catches you. He tells you to stop. It's his car. He's Tiffany. You say no. You make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and you escape in one of their uniforms. You tell him to meet you in Andrews Farm, but you go to Christies Beach. You don't trust him. Besides, you like the bogans. Thirty years later, you get a postcard. You have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. You tell Tiffany to meet you in Modbury by the Chicken Shop. He's been waiting for you all these years. He's never taken another lover. You don't care. You don't show up. You go to Murray Bridge. That's where you stashed the tin foil hats.

        • I think it’s clear you’ve never left the house before.

      • with money, u mean coins? that should hurt!

  • Rydo is unanimously hated by Taxi Drivers as they charge customers a Fixed Rate

  • Just wanting to leave some feedback - mine arrived, late. I confirmed that I used the promo, and the driver saw it, but claimed I never paid. He wanted the $$ via card - trip was ~$15 so under $25. I refused.
Just a word of warning - may seem free but it’s a bit dodgy. I may have been unlucky.
The app is horrible too - doesn’t show proof of trip or anything. No driver tracking, no proof of the booking, and no receipt.

Highly recommend you book 30min before your appointment, just so you have the opportunity to seek alternative transport if you need to.
    Almost missed my appointment!
Was also a black and white cab driver too.

The ride was direct to the vaccination clinic.
