  • Hardly seems worth the hassle for the Hitachi USB 2.0 when they now coming on special at only around $10 more from local suppliers. You get local warranty, proper Australian electrical approval, etc

    EG: (just expired) Seagate http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64389

  • The USB 3.0 variant sounds like a good deal.

  • What I really want to know is what HD inside the seagate usb3 version.

  • Just bought a Seagate Free Agent 2TB for 159 from officeworks yesturday. Should have waited another day lol

    "IS THIS A 2.5" DRIVE???? "

      mmmm… toast.

  • Looks like it has the 3TB green drive inside.

  • Does anyone know if the warranty for the drive is the US based warranty cuz its from Amazon? Or is it the AUS warranty if claimed here?

Sadly US drives only come with 1 Yr :/

If you think about it really carefully, I reckon you'll be able to work it out :-)

      • If not, you're a bit of a mentalist.

  • Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls,

    dying time is here.

  • I just bought one (Seagate 3tb) through checkout it worked out to $167.29 Still a good deal. Fingers crossed because I've had a bad run on Seagate over the past few years. More a WD/Samsung drive user.

    • I am currently experiencing all sorts of annoyances with my 3TB seagate. It doesn't turn itself off with the laptop like my WD used to and I'm always having to unplug it from power to reboot it. I would not recommend these for a single place of storage. It's currently my master with a back-up off it, but I will changing that shortly as I don't trust it.

  • lol, yeah wont get damaged at all in shipping so much ill be willing to copy 3tb of stuff on it…. get a local one, you dont need usb 3 either,.. 60meg vs what 90meg of a local drive peak? not worth it really

  • What kind of crazy business model are they operating where external drives cost LESS than bare drives? Thanks for the links and bargain - I'll get me a 3Tb and rip it out of its case :)

  • You can't rip it out of the case, the drive has a soldered port which won't allow you to put it internally into a computer

    • The video posted shows the Hitachi can, Ive done a WD before but cant speak for all models. Which port is soldered?
