2,500 Free Telstra Plus Points for Fully Vaccinated Members @ Telstra (Plus Membership Required)

7172

Spotted this on the Telstra Plus page, seems like a nice freebie. Might come in handy at some point to be eligible for purchases with minimum point spends.

Thank you for making a difference

We’re supporting the COVID-19 vaccination program. From late Sept, Telstra Plus members who confirm they’re fully vaccinated by 31 Jan get 2,500 points and the chance to win 5 million points and credit on eligible Telstra services for a year.

Telstra Plus members can upload their COVID-19 vaccine document number via the My Telstra app from late September. The 2,500 points will appear in your points balance within 14 days within the app.

FAQ:

I’ve only received one jab. Can I still get the 2,500 Telstra Plus points?

  • Unfortunately, no. The offer is only open to Telstra Plus members who are fully vaccinated but the program is open until the end of January 2022 so you can apply for the points once you’ve received your second jab.

How do I find my COVID-19 digital certificate document number?

  • After you have your second jab, your COVID-19 Digital Certificate will be available through your Medicare account. If you don’t have the Medicare app, or don’t have a MyGov account, you can get help via the “How to get proof of your COVID-19 vaccinations" page.

I have a number of family members with different services on the same account, can we all receive the 2,500 bonus points if we’re all vaccinated?

  • Yes. Points are awarded at the member level so all Telstra Plus members on the account can claim the points.

As always, enjoy :)

Good suggestion. Thank you. That will save the world

    • +2

So the only reason you would get vaccinated is if it resulted in the end of lockdowns i.e. you don't care about actually getting COVID-19 and/or potentially passing it on to family or friends or other people. I must have my priorities totally screwed up!
PS I live in a State probably run by one of those "rogue premiers" and life here has been as close to normal in the past 15 months as probably anywhere around the world.

      • The vaccine doesn't prevent you contracting the virus nor does it prevent you from passing it on to others.
I also live in one of these states. Life has not been normal, as a 'non essential' business owner its been excruciatingly painful. Not knowing when possibly with 6 short hours notice I could be shutdown, for an unknown period of time. I realise we have it a lot better than other states but when is enough, enough? If we don't reopen at 80% then when will we? The budget doesn't allow for a potential month long shutdown at any moment, at least not for me! Other countries have realised this and have returned to near normal lives whilst living with the virus.

What's your business? Would love to visit and leave a review about your anti vax views

          • +5

@belongsinforums: I’m not anti vax, I’ll be getting mine very soon in fact. I’m anti mandatory vaccination, there should be no shaming someone’s personal choice, nor any discrimination.

          • +1

@belongsinforums: When someone has no knowledge or arguments they just label their opponent.
It looks like the best thing sheeple can do is to label anyone who opposes mandatory vaccination with the experimental provisionally approved medicine as the "anti-vaxxers".
And it doesn't even cross your mind that these people are NOT anti-vaxxers. They are against the vaccines which have not been thoroughly tested and have not undergone all essential multi-stage clinical trials. Many people simply do not want to take part in the clinical trials of the newly developed vaccines which are already known to cause severe adverse effects including death and with yet unknown long-term effects.
This is what TGA say in regards to the Covid-19 vaccines: "Many of the large-scale clinical trials that will provide evidence of safety and effectiveness are still progressing and these results will be provided to the TGA as they become available. The TGA will also evaluate quality data…
…the timeframe for the evaluation of each vaccine will ultimately depend on when the complete data package is provided by sponsors. We have not yet received a full data package from any company."
Don't you think that people should have rights to their body and to decide whether they are prepared to get the jab or not, especially considering that TGA does not have the complete data about these vaccines and that they have not been fully approved?
If you beleive the jab is beneficial for you and will help you - go and get it, if you beleive it may cause harm - don't do it.
We all must have a freedom of choice. Otherwise you will end-up living in a Nazi or Communist regime.

        • Twisting my words to suit your arguments?
I never said it prevents you from getting the disease or passing it on to others. However, I will say the vaccines are more effective at preventing you getting the disease and passing it on to others than doing nothing. And they are reportedly very effective (when fully vaccinated) at preventing serious disease and death.

I didn't state life has been normal - I stated it's been as close to normal as probably anywhere around the world. My wife is a sole trader and had to shut her business down for 2 months last year. Fortunately - and probably because of the hard-nosed approach of the State Government (including its rogue premier) to border control and a lot of luck, we've only had a few, relatively short lockdowns in the past 15 months.

The following is not the opinion of the Government or the drug companies or Facebook warriors….

The University of Sydney's Sydney Institute for Infectious Disease:
"Vaccines offer our only pathway to safeguarding the health of the community, preventing unnecessary deaths, avoiding the financial and health costs of future prolonged lockdowns, and opening our country back to the world."

          https://www.sydney.edu.au/infectious-diseases-institute/news…

      • Do you realise there may be other reasons why people don't want these jabs which are still going through what TGA defined as "the large-scale clinical trials" and where TGA "not yet received a full data package from any company"?
If you watch what these jabs can do, you may understand why many people don't want them:
        https://www.facebook.com/556455780/videos/1171901829955364/

        • No-one disputes the fact that there are risks associated with getting vaccinated. However, there are greater risks by not being vaccinated - and by not being vaccinated you increase the risk to others.
According to the University of Sydney's Sydney Institute for Infectious Disease, COVID-19 kills approximately 3% and causes long-term illness in 10-30% of those who contract it.

          https://www.sydney.edu.au/infectious-diseases-institute/news…

I would have thought the 3% figure is high. In Australia it works out to be ~1.8% of recorded cases but a lot of them are probably old and/or have underlying medical conditions. So if you're young and healthy your chances of dying are significantly less.
Blood clotting from Astra Zeneca kills about 1 in a million or 0.0001%. Risk of other complications? Don't know, but severe cases must be rare or we would have heard of them by now or if really bad the TGA would revoke its use. Long term effects? No-one knows - so there's some risk there.
COVID-19 is probably with us forever, which means getting it may be inevitable, like getting the flu. Hopefully by then they will have more effective treatments - but given that a lot of people still die from the flu that's probably wishful thinking.
Anyway, weigh up the pros and cons and discuss with your GP. Don't be influenced by extreme examples on social media. You need to make an informed decision.

          Facebook as a source LOL

          • -2

@belongsinforums: Facebook is not a source but a media platform where you can post information you want to share. All people in the video shared their names except for one lady so this information can be easily verified.

            • @bob19: It's interesting that the guy in this facebook video that died, only did so after going a full week with concerning health problems without going to the hospital. The first mention of the family calling an ambulance was after he was dead. Sure, some people are going to have some reactions, this is true with ALL medication, but you're meant to see a doctor if you experience any side effects.

            • @bob19: Case closed ladies and gentlemen! We have their names!

  • +8

I always forget that we have both extremes of people on ozb. Those who can give you the most beautifully succinct information on a niche subject and also those mouth-breathers who think a vaccine is some government mind control chip.

Thanks for my 2500 points. One thing this can be used on is 3 months of Game Optimiser for your NBN.

Upvoted just to pee off anti vaxers.

  • +1

    Discrimination spotted!!!

    • -2

Agreed. Imagine discriminating against fat people by not allowing them in buffets.

  • +2

The only thing covid has purged in Australia is my selfish idiotic friends and colleagues from the non selfish and non idiotic

  • -2

In 28 days the purge will start, those unvaccinated by then are free to express their rights with no QR code check-in, outcasted knowing the virus is hunting them with or with out comobidity issues and under lying health issues.

I'll agree the government fkd up on building quarantine facilities,(but that's no excuse for you to complain In October) but since theres now a official roadmap every business will be pushing for October, so if you're not vaccinated by then, then maybe enjoy the purge because that's what the virus does to unvaccinated, it does not discriminate, especially the new 1.1.2 virus coming soon, and the new mu virus.

    Times ticking.

      • +1

You mean like this guy: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZSJ33kCyt/

      • You realise how ludicrous your argument is right?
The deaths from COVID are on top of everything else, they don't replace the other deaths.

      • +1

Half of those deaths were from New York nursing homes where Governor Cuomo was throwing infected patients into with no policy. Since then, he has had his emmy award stripped and forced to resign for 'sexual harassment'.

      • @Chochkee

The only people who will be purged are the people who are vaxxed and have weakened immune systems

This reads like you're trying to conflate vaccine recipients with a resulting weakened immune system.
There is no mechanism by which this could be true - if you're going to make an extraordinary claim, then you'll need to back it up with some sources.

The US has approximately 50% vaxx rate and people are not dropping dead.

This is completely false - they have approximately 50% vaxx rate and lots and lots of people dying because their healthcare system cannot cope with the load of Covid patient numbers.

Areas of the US are in crisis at the moment, hospitals are full and turning patients away, available ICU beds are below zero.

        https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/09/idaho-begins-rationi…

    • Yeah! This official "roadmap" is amasing. Who cares that it didn't take into account the available data from other countries. Take for instance Israel with population 9.3 mln.
80% of populaton over 16 are fully vaxxed. They are getting about 12,000 new cases every day. And guess what? The new wave started in the areas with the highest vaccination level! So if you think that being vaxxed will save you, think twice.
Vast majority of people with severe illness are fully vaxxed. Vast majority of Covid deaths are also fully vaxxed. Now they are jabbing people for the 3rd time. Those who got only 2 jabs and doesn't get the 3rd will lose their "vaccination passports". To add to the problem - noone knows the long term adverse effects.
Is it what awaits us in AU?

      • +4

Take for instance Israel with population 9.3 mln.
80% of populaton over 16 are fully vaxxed. They are getting about 12,000 new cases every day.

And of those 12,000 new daily cases, the daily death rate is averaging under 50.
From a population of 9.3m, vaccines have done an excellent job to reduce the Covid death rate to such a low number, given the extremely high case number.
These numbers are pretty damning evidence in support of Israel's vaccination program.

And guess what? The new wave started in the areas with the highest vaccination level! So if you think that being vaxxed will save you, think twice.

This statement doesn't make sense. By your own numbers above, the vaccines are absolutely saving thousands and thousands of lives. This is evidence for vaccination, it's not evidence against !

Vast majority of people with severe illness are fully vaxxed.

Yes - if the vast majority of the population is vaccinated, then obviously the majority of severe cases will be amongst the vaccinated - because they are the majority group of population. What are you trying to illustrate with this statement ?

Vast majority of Covid deaths are also fully vaxxed.

Of course - because most of the population is vaccinated. As above, this stands to reason.
What point are you trying to make ?
Pre vaccination, during lockdown, Israel's second wave in January averaged less daily cases than today - but the death rate was around double.
They now have no lockdown, and half the death rate post vaccination. This is despite significantly higher case numbers.

Is it what awaits us in AU?

Yes, that's what we're trying to achieve. No lockdown, a manageable death rate, a vaccinated population, and a hospital system that can cope.
Israel is a pretty good role model in this regard.
