  • Pretty soon I can retire my 240GB system drives and go full SSD. Not yet, but soon.

    • What are you waiting for? They probably won't get a whole lot cheaper with all the gen 4 marketing floating around, sounds like ppl will be paying double for an ssd with some leds imbedded in them soon!

      • +12

Yeah ok you got me. Bought two.

        • +1

          That's the spirit.

        • No worries, nothing is more egregious than a wasted bargain.

  • Is the A2000 the best all rounder NVME SSD?

In terms of price to performance for a balance of gaming and workload

    • Yes, at this price point, checking the DRAM and TLC boxes, it's an Ozbargain favorite.

      • Without considering price is the Intel 660p better than the A2000. Tossing between the two for my laptop

        • A2000 is the better choice due to use of TLC (vs QLC) and better DRAM.

          • @philotex: Yeh realised that when I came across the LTT video suspciously in my recommended.

    • +5

It's the best budget NVMe. There are compromises but nothing a regular user will notice. The only alternative really at this price point was the WD SN550 but WD changed it behind the scenes which makes it a worse drive.

  • The A2000 has DRAM, endurance is 600TBW.

Tempted to get one as cheap storage now.

  • +4

It's actually $20-$25 over what I'd call the bargain price.

  • +3

how does it compare with this one ?
Western Digital 1TB WD BLACK SN750 NVMe SSD $163.84 + Delivery ($0 with Prime) @ Amazon UK via AU

    • Yeah, I'm tossing up between these two deals also. Tempted by the WD but warranty support is swaying me back towards the Kingston.

    • +2

For only $20 more, that SN750 is also a good alternate and faster choice.

    • thanks, got second one! Its mighty fast

  • +1

was 120$ few days ago from shopping express , not a good deal IMO.

    • +2

Are you sure it's the A2000? I believe it was NV1

      • I maybe incorrect , as far as I remember was A2000 but may be wrong.
I got A2000 around $135 a few months back myself

    • +4

NV1 replaced the A2000 because Kingston swapped parts and warranty for the drives. A2000 has DRAM whereas the NV1 doesn't.

  • Have you look at Crucial P5 1TB for $182
    AmazonLink

  • Thanks for the post, Ordered 2

  • Do you guys think this SSD is worth $25 more? or….?

    Crucial P5 1TB 3400MB/s PCIe Gen 3 NVMe M.2 (2280) SSD - $169
    from this deal:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648269

    • If you can get free shipping, yes. Honestly, probably still fine if you can take advantage of the higher speed if you need to pay an extra $10 for shipping.

  • come on Amazon, you can do better than this

  • I am currently using a Samsung Evo 860 1TB SSD as my OS drive. Am contemplating to upgrade to a Ryzen 5600 with NVME m2. drive. Is this Kingston a good OS drive? I would like a SSD that doesn't run too hot. The kingston one seems to max out at 61deg.C based on reviews so seems quite good.

But I am not sure if this is a good OS drive? Any feedback please?

    • +1

Yes it is a good budget nvme drive that is well reviewed. Unless you need one that's faster speed like the WD SN750 or Crucial P5 which will cost abit more and generate abit more heat if that's your concern

      • Thanks mate. Would this Kingston A2000 be better (more reliable) than the WD Blue 1TB 3D NAND (not NVMe version)? That one is $132 on Amazon.

  • Snapped one of those 1TB Kingston A2000. Not a bad deal when ordered via Prime.

I was actually about to purchase a 1TB Western Digital SN550 which is even slightly cheaper, however, those slower parts WD is swapping out secretly is really not cool. I'll avoid WD and Crucial in the foreseeable future.

  • The price for the A2000 went up to $159
