  • Just applied, instant conditional approval. Thanks OP

  • Can't continue with your application online, please find a NAB branch …

    • All good, called NAB - updated some details and conditionally approved now.

  • +1

Conditionally approved, then declined :-( Sad.
Sole-trader with 140k income, 4k spend a month, no mortgage, and no other credit cards. Annoying🙄

    • Oh, really?
I thought conditionally approved was a good sign :-(

    • +1

      no other credit cards

      May be due to that?
They can't see your repayment history so couldn't determine how risky or not you are.
That's just my thought, could be more than this.

Quite a bummer when you have a clear history, good income, no debt and couldn't apply for any credit card.
May be start with a lower limit credit card to get start? Something like the Coles Mastercard which only have $2K minimum limit, but also offer bonus points.

      • From other comments made by flibbidyflop, it does seem he/she had CCs previously. Even when you cancel a CC there's repayment history on your file.

    • Any info on why, it sounds radiculous? I thought only ANZ did stuff like this.

    • +1

Same… Approved then declined… Would be nice is they stated the reason…

  • First credit card I've been declined from. I think I'm getting somewhat close to my borrowing power cap since I have a mortgage now, but I thought I still had a fair gap to go… anyone know how tight NAB is compared to other banks?

    • +1

My NAB applications always fly through, had issues with ANZ and Citi before though

Run the numbers on all your expenses + minimum repayment on card(s) if you maxed them all out and see how that looks.

Other part is level of savings, make sure to put down everything you can. Car, equity in the house, etc etc. A lot easier to get a 15k limit when you can show you would have access to that kind of money should you ever need it

Applied and conditionally approved on Sunday. Approved Monday following proof of income. Received the card today (Wednesday).

    • +1

Wow, that was fast with delivery. Even before covid, i probably only received it at least 5 days after approval.

      • +1

Yup, I was so surprised. For what it's worth, we use a PO Box so perhaps AusPost are prioritising mail delivery to those given they're already going to the post office?

Also, received QF points today (on date of statement). Cancelled the card immediately and received a full refund of the annual fee.

        • Nice.

Do you see your accumulated points in your NAB account?

According the NAB FAQ, i should be able to access the NAB rewards after login. But i don't see anything - either points or access to the reward site.

@timhn: This is/was a Qantas FF card, not a NAB Rewards card. I'm not sure if that influences what's displayed on site, although I presume it does. The QF points tally was shown on the card statement. I verified that the points had been transferred to my Qantas FF account before I cancelled the card.

            Hope this helps

            • @theanatoki: Yep, you right. Was on chat a moment ago with NAB and they pointed out that only for the NAB Rewards type. Qantas card will need see in statement and from Qantas.

  • I applied for 15k limit and got told that I can only get 8k limit, hope I still get the points

  • Good timing as my 1st year free Westpac Qantas Black is expiring next month
and I have just cancelled to replace with this card

Finally got approved 3 days after submitting the payslips
no documents required on other income proof tho

Hope I will get the 100k points (after $3000 spend) :)

  • Applied Friday morning, got approved Saturday morning after submitting payslips. Very fast!

  • Anyone got approved/got their card.

How long was this, after providing bank statements to show income?

    Instead of payslips

    • I was approved on a Thursday, card was sent on Saturday, card arrived Monday after.
I didn't have to provide bank statements, just 3 payslips.

      I applied on a Monday.
I got a phone call on Wednesday after applying and had to go to a branch to get identity check sorted. I went in on Thursday and was approved the same day after identity check was done in the branch.

      • cool - thanks John

I guess I will wait a couple of days - got conditionally approved on Saturday

        • Conditional approval only by computer based on what you entered in the application. Someone will then review it together with your documents - ie payslips, income proofs etc.
This can be within 2 business days.

        • Like @timhn mentioned: conditional approval is just based on computer system. Somebody still needs to review your application (they can still decline/accept).
FYI - I got conditional approval immediately after submitting the application.

@johnmelb: Just got Approved (tuesday). NAB has really stepped up. really great approval process. Lets see if i get my card in the mail by the end of the week.

If anyone is wondering about using bank statements as proof of income - it works and just as fast.

now to get the annual fee waived for having a packaged home loan with NAB

Thanks for the info @timhn @johnmelb

  • Got the approval on Thursday card in the mailbox today. Ridiculously quick.

A recent card with St George took 2 full weeks after approval to arrive with usual excuse of COVID delays.

  • Conditionally approved on Wednesday, Approved on Friday.

Got the card 4 days after, thanks op :)

  • Dang, NAB has issued the first statement after 2wks after approved. I was approx $200 short of $3k spending.

    • You get 60 days to hit the spend limit. Or you trying to cancel the card ASAP

      • I know we have 60 days to spend. I was holding out the last few hundreds to spend this weekend to get over $3K. If i know they going to issue 1st statement exactly 14 days then i would just get some Woolworths giftcards last week.

    • I wish they did that for me, I'm still waiting for the statement.

  • I've uploaded my payslips to the NAB portal but when I click continue it takes me back to the menu with 'to do' still active on my application.

    Has anyone experienced the same?

    • +1

It also remained as "to do" for me until they reviewed the info.
I also found it a bit strange.

  • I was approved for only $8000. I have declined that card. Can you reapply for this again if I have cancelled another card?

    • Isn't there a min credit limit of $15k?

      • Yes, but they tried to put me on a different card with a lower limit. That is the one I declined.

  • Nab sent me a card that I couldn't activate. After weeks of calling them to find out what was going on, they sent me a letter out of the blue saying my account was now closed.
The whole ordeal was annoying and made worse by poor and conflicting communication by NAB. I'll be steering clear of them in the future.

    • I would go to their internal appeal process. You have nothing to lose but if you do not get the card and the bonus points you have a wasted credit check.

  • How long would you see your points in QF account after the statement? My first statement which earned ~2800 points was issued over 10 days ago but no points shown up in my QF yet.

    • +1

My QFF details were not recorded during application - so I had to call them on 13 22 65 to have my details added.
I was told points are credited once a month and mine would be credited on the 5th.

Btw: my statement had a notice right below the box with the points:

Don't miss out on Qantas Frequent Flyer Points
To earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points using your NAB Qantas Credit Card account, you must provide NAB with your valid
Qantas Frequent Flyer membership details. To do so, please call us on 13 22 65 between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday
      (AEST)

      • Thanks. Called up and got them update to my account. Support guy was also confirmed I'll receive the 100K bonus on next statement.

In case anyone need to call, don't use NAB's main contact to call them, but call the one at the back of the card which has a much shorter waiting queue.

    • I had the same issue. Called them earlier today to update my QFF details. NAB said my points will be credited in the next statement.

  • Just got an email from NAB to let me know that in few days I'll receive 100K bonus QF points. This is really good of them to inform customers when they qualified for the promo bonus.
