huh? Dashpass gives free delivery anyway, that's the whole point of signing up to dashpass in the first place.

    • +2

Yep. There is an actual birthday perk which OP has not included (maybe targeted). For me, its free doughnuts from my local KrispyKreme.

      • +5

oooo free doughnuts, I'll take it

        • Relevant username hahaha

      • Has anyone been able to order the free doughnuts? I get an error message.

        • +2

Need to spend $10 minimum on another product to get the free doughnuts

        • +1

I got them. Just spent over $10 by buying a 4 pack of original glazed and add the free ones to the cart.

  • +8

Isn't the whole point of DashPass to get free delivery?

  • Looks like $2 delivery for everyone including non dash pass diners

  • +4

    Code should be brainlessbirthdaytreat!

  • +3

Is Doordash slowly losing it's mind?

  • Yeah, not all restaurants are on DashPass. A local dumplings place near me isn't and normally $4.99. Today that's $2.

I instead opted for free donuts and 20% off Reject shop today instead hahaha

    • +1

so McDonalds and KFC $2 delivery?

      • KFC doesn’t accept promos (note from DoorDash app)

  • I guess they need to increase the volume of deliveries…Those service charges really make good money rather than dashpass lol

  • +1

    on order $25+

  • +2

Checked and all the restaurants here are free delivery anyway. Dumb birthday deal.

    • Yep and $20 min spend for DashPass whereas this requires $25 min spend.

Which deal is it today? donuts or free delivery

  • I just don't understand how their system/customer service works, I ordered kebab plate which missing the turkey bread. Complained to them through chat, ''PRINCESS'' offered to refund me 50%…ok thanks I'll take it

    • yeah they definitely lost money on refunding you haha

    • +1

Their system works coz the next time this happens to you they will tell you their policy is not to compensate you. Had them tell me they couldn't "compensate" me yesterday after the delivery driver didn't deliver my entire order.

      • +1

Same happened to me. They lost me as a customer when I had to spend 2 days and many hours of very annoying pointless 'chats' to get a refund on goods not received. Their policy seems based in an algorithm and completely disregards consumer law.

        • +1

I paid by PayPal so I didn't even waste my time beyond the chat being disconnected when I said "That's f#%king ludicrous"

Didn't bother reconnecting just filed a dispute

          • @MBix: Oops, I feel a bit dopey I didn't do the same. Their attitude got me cranky, and was already hungry, and ended up outraged with no dinner and hassles instead. First world probs I guess though.

    • +2

Turkey bread hahaha. Okay you win this one.

    • Cannot believe meghan markle is working for Dash Pass now!

  • +1

Free delivery has always been a perk of dash pass….

  • I wonder how much money Doordash outlay with offers etc on its initial launch

  • -1

Just make sure you Guys check the price to order direct from the restaurants too, made this mistake and just cancelled dash pass as I realise even with discount codes I was paying way more plus paying for dash pass…. Most restaurants I checked seemed to have like a 5or 6$ increase in price per main so from 13 to 19 or around there. And since you need to order a certain amount to get free delivery or use discount code. You end up ordering at least 2 mains. That's around a 10 to 12$ increase in price and things like a 15% discount will only give you back 6$ or so.. since you are also paying for dash pass…. I realised I was still better off ordering from the store.

    • +1

… you can't be serious right?

Of course ordering from the store is cheaper. That's how Doordash profit, by taxing items and merchants pass these on as they don't want to be out of pocket (with the exception of The Reject Shop). The whole business model is centralised around being an ordering/delivery system for places that don't have ordering systems.

To save you from having to learn later: Uber Eats, Menulog, Deliveroo etc do the same thing.

      • +5

No actually, I am serious. Because the concept of the delivery system was that The sheer extra no. of deliveries make up for the extra costs involved by still having a lot of profit from more sales. Each delivery system has different costs and you will find different restaurants charge different amounts on each delivery service. Because the largest cost for restaurants is the lease costs of the property , so the more sales they get through, even if each sale is less profit, it still adds up as opposed to not having that many sales. Similar concept to the voucher system or group buy / massdrop system. As well as the delivery guys sometimes do 5 or 6 drop offs at the same time, so that also adds up.

PLUS The delivery charge is what a lot of people thought gets paid to the delivery system, so by being a dashpass member / paying a subscription fee , you are already paying for the doordash service, so on top of that there is still a 50%-90% mark up on mains (depending on the restaurant and delivery service. I still remember one restaurant i ordered from for pickup was $11 in store and 19$ on ubereats). So I was just making sure people realised that you not only pay dashpass membership, you are still paying a lot more extra per main. If you are ordering multiple mains, the extra costs really start adding up even though the service is the same, its all in one delivery still and one order, but for 2 mains you are paying $11-12$ more, for 3 mains, $17-18….Thats A LOT . Then there is also that service charge or whatever it is they charge.

BTW lots of the restaurants do have their own delivery systems as well. I ended up using the restaurant's own delivery instead of the big name delivery services. Btw some services are better than others, I know UberEats is usually the priciest and for some of the restaurants i have tried on menulog, they are the same price in store as they are on menulog. So Hence my post, you should check as some restaurants dont charge extra on some services. And a lot of people dont know this as i see people discovering it almost every time there is a delivery post. I know i discovered Ubereats mark up last year but i didnt realise Doordash had such a high markup, I thought at most it would be a couple of dollars.

Btw learn to be less condescending in your posts, I dont get whats wrong with some people on here, they just jump on your back, All i did was try to inform people who may or may not know as i have seen many posts where people only learn it for the first time themselves. I dont think there is anything wrong with putting in a disclaimer about the extra costs and each restaurant having different % of extra costs. Better for people to be well informed andmake their own decisions.

  • Orders over $25 needs to be in post

  • Rate door dash

These delivery services get worse each day…

  • -1

    nice love doordash

  • seriously, i placed an order more than 2 hours ago, which the system indicated 23-33 minutes to receive it. now i am still waiting for the order, but I am not hungry any more.

    • that really sums up my experience with doordash!!
