  • Does this need the eufy base station?

    • +1

No it doesnt, it comes with its own stand alone chime.

      • But will still work with base station if you have one… right?

    • I would think it does. I have a set of eufy cams with base station. If you don't have a base station, where is the footage being saved locally? Not the doorbell, one would hope.

      • Best to look that up to confirm it works before buying…

They said they'd make their Indoor Cam 2K compatible with the base station but that's yet to happen and doesn't look like will happen anytime soon, if ever.

They also said they'd enable storage on the 2nd gen base station to be expandable via USB (the internal storage is a paltry 16GB) but it's looking like that won't happen at all now and they'll just release a new base station that does that instead.

      • The Chime/mini repeater is the equivalent of the base station on this model. The footage is being saved to a micro SD card that resides in the side of the mini repeater

  • hmm tempted

  • hey, what would be a clean solution to allow elderly people to see live video (fixed location i.e. lounge room) when door bell rings i.e. like an echo show or google hub? Old android tablet? (mobile doesnt work for them..) Thanks..

    • They would only need a wifi enabled device (no internet) and one that is compatiable with the Eufy security app. As for Google integration they would also need google hub or chromecast device so when the doorbell rings they would need to say "Hey Google, show me the front door" and then wait 10 seconds for it to display. A mobile/tablet device would be easier plus also allows for two way communication and other features not available through google/amazon integration.

      • Does a Google Nest (battery) work quicker with a Google Home Hub?
The reviews for the Eufy show quite a lag between when the door bell rings and when the vision appears on the home display

I like the idea of not paying subscription fees so lean towards the Eufy, but the Google and Arco products seem to offer a better experience….if you pay subscription

        • It takes about 6 seconds to load and display the live stream on my Google TV after you initiate it.

      • Thanks bud ☺️

    • I think Echo show is better option as per my research. Alexa integration is better than google integration with Eufy.

What I read was "Google hub doesn't notify when a bell is rang, but Alexa show's the alert and maybe an option to view the camera".

I can be wrong, but do your research before buying anything unless you can return it.

Also, echo dot works as an excellent chime replacement. It is officially mentioned on Eufy site if you want additional chime.

      • Nice.. ok a bit more research, thank you!

  • same price at JB: JB HiFi

    • And Amazon and Bunnings.

  • does it support HomeKit ?

  • 120days between charges? Is that a joke?

    • I think you get that if you us it as a doorbell only, if you have motion detection setup for recordings this is reduced.
Easy to remove and charge though.

      • -2

        East to steal then?

  • +1

How about the lag? I’ve got Ring and they lag a lot.

    • About 1-2 seconds from motion detection to getting the notification. Pressing the doorbell is almost instant.

  • Did anyone experience the Eufy 'bug' where you could view other people's cameras?

Price was $249 n around that price mark on ebay time to time.

Is it better to spend $50 more for the home base? Except storage, anything home base can do compared to chime?
