    • only $8 with my credit

When you can get 8GB flash drives USB 3.0 for $7 you have to question whether this is a good deal. 16GB USB 3.0 drives have been around this price before too.

If you can tolerate the speed of the Cruzer you aren't doing anything requiring more than 8GB at once IMO. Even most 720p movies aren't that big. Paying $1 more for two 8GB USB 3.0 drives for example is the obvious choice.

    • Many people still don't have USB 3.0, myself included.

      • I think the benefit he's trying to get at is that with USB 3.0 flash drives they might be faster, as in the memory chips in them will have faster read/write. As this benefit can be had for USB 2.0 users as well as USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 slots. And I'm pretty sure unless you go for a SSD or a external HDD you won't be saturating the USB 2.0 bandwidth anytime soon. (well not with the cheap stuff anyway)

If there wasn't a difference in speed then there is absolutely no difference between a USB 3.0 and USB2.0 flash drive other than a fancy sticker.

    • Can you please give a link for the 8GB USB 3.0's ?

    • link please to 8GB USB3.0 prices

    • clicking through to MSY shows USB 2…

Shopping Square haven't come through with the promised rebate from the last Cruzer deal even after prompting and reply of a promise it will be provided.

Neg from me for a deal from a scam site and plus they could sell it cheaper if they wanted to, making it a true bargain.

    • I have spent around ~$4000 at ShoppingSquare over the past 4-5 years and I have never had any poor service. Granted I haven't purchased from them in a while and their prices aren't as competitive as they used to be, I don't think that complaining about that a rebate from (approx) 2 weeks ago hasn't come through yet is an appropriate action. On top of that, certainly negging a deal under such grounds isn't the way to go. This is, nevertheless, an alright deal for those interested, and auna above sheds some important light on who might take value out of this drive over an 8GB USB3.0 or vice versa.

      • +3

Neg me all you want - my Neg said it was also because of the price - this drive can be found for the same price and in fact cheaper by SS themselves on ebay! So this deal DESERVES a neg on that basis alone (no offence to the OP).

In relation to the refund and the time frame stated by you as being "inappropriate" - what is WRONG is a company inducing people to purchase an item by offering a rebate to be provided BY 1 March 2012 and not doing so is a scam. Just because you claim to never have poor service in the past (sure others could provide examples to the contrary) - doesn't excuse the fact of what SS hasn't fulfilled right now. njninjar - I know a nice Nigerian who can sell you some cheap IT stuff with a promise to provide the items by 1 April.

        • "they could sell it cheaper if they wanted to" - what kind of logic is this? You think all major retailers sell things at purchase price? You think Harvey Norman, Dicksmith etc. all sell things as low as they can? Just because things aren't at absolute bottom price doesn't make things a bad deal. Excuse them for trying to make a penny or two…

        • +3

njninjar - Do a check of price on Ebay.

Other ebayers are selling it cheaper than the $13.90 price in this deal INCLUDING SS themselves. So seems very obvious to me that they could sell it cheaper (as they did in the last deal) or in fact this price is NO DEAL!

        • +4

You stated " Neg from me for a deal from a scam site" and then added the issue of price as as secondary argument. Now you claim "my Neg said it was also because of the price"??? Sounds more like simple angry revenge than a rational explanation of prices to me!!

        • @BFM exactly…

        • You say SS did not give people the rebate " BY 1 March 2012" .
Most people keep telling you they got theirs ON 1 March.
Issued 1 day late. Maybe just a mistake in your case.
So it is not a scam as you keep incorrectly claiming.

Contact SS again & ask for your points as they suggst & check My Reward Points in your account, rather than complaining on OB.

You mistakenly believe a voucher or coupon would be provided. According to your post on that deal, you originally contacted them BEFORE the Reward Points were issued. They did say the points would be be deposited to your account BY 1 March, but with so many orders a day late surely isn't that bad?? Not bad enough to call it a "scam site".

        • -4

          @ brucefromaustralia & ozpete - wrong!

I would have negged it in any event because there are cheaper prices around. Am I annoyed SS haven't fulfilled their previous offer? You bet. Many posts have been made on this forum warning people of problems with retailers. I said "and" because you can take your pick.

Any body giving a + to this deal have not checked prices on ebay and boggles my mind to understand. Admin removing my NEG was inappropriate as stating a cheaper price elsewhere is legitimate reason for a neg.

      • I would not give this deal a '+'. While not a great deal, and available elsewhere or before for cheaper, you primarily claimed SS is a scam site, and secondly like every site which charges for product it could be sold cheaper (that is no basis for a neg, otherwise all except free deals would receive a neg!!)

Neg from me for a deal from a scam site
and plus they could sell it cheaper if they wanted to,

To accuse a business of running a scam is a strong thing to say based on no evidence, just you have not got your rewards points (that you mistakenly think is in the form of a voucher or coupon). A scam is a systematic problem, not just a personal one. SS have said to contact them if points were not received AFTER they were distributed - you received an email when you complained BEFORE points were distributed (1day late) saying they were still to be distributed! So contact them.

        • Did ozpete actually revoke your neg vote? Or are you blaming him because the community revoked your neg vote?

    • I bought in two lots - one rebate has come through, the other hasn't.

    • -1

How can you neg this deal over an issue with a different deal?
You seem to be the only one complaining on the previous deal thread.
If it was the scam you accuse it of, there would be plenty of angry posts.
Got my 6000 rewards points on 1 Mar.
Can understand you being upset over no $6 credit, but pretty harsh to accuse a business of running a scam because of a mix up in your account. Publishing such a comment can cause problems for OB, that's why I gave a neg.

      • Check prices on Ebay - there is no deal here.

You need to do your homework a little better - you obviously haven't read either of my post on this deal properly nor have you done so on the other deal.

PS: Thanks for your bar stool legal advice.

See you retracted your previous legal advice to me before I replied.

        • -3

Having published in print and received threats of legal action myself, and having had my posts taken down on legal advice because it exposed another site & administraters to complex & expensive legal actions, it is good advice.

Believe me, spending time with solicitors is expensive & boring. No administrator wants that because of an off the cuff comment. But publication is publication & business reputation is a valuable asset worth protecting. (I realise SS is far from popular on OB!!) I wouldn't want to lose OB.

Read your 1 post here & 3 on previous deal twice before originally posting. You say you are raising a dispute through PayPal, because you received no email notifying you of your credit. The obvious thing to do before raising a dispute & appearing to seek angry revenge here is to contact SS again to resolve the issue.

What I can't understand is why you are angry you did not receive $6 store credit from a site you do not want to deal with because they ran a 'scam'????
$10.95 was a good price delivered, & many will not use the store credit.

Was modifying my advice based on my own legal advice when you replied :-)

        • -1

You never said the neg was because the deal could be bought cheaper. Rather you claimed, just like most deals, SS could sell it cheaper. We know this because we bought it cheaper from SS last time.

So no research 'homework' needed. I was responding to what you wrote, not what you imagined you wrote. So obviously I read what you wrote, did you?

No retraction of advice, but an amplification of the consequences of claiming anything in a published form. Long after you write it, there can be consequences. I was lucky to have a legal team paid for by my benefactors, so I could 'publish & be damned'. A legal response was prepared long before publication of contentious articles.

    • Interesting, I got my rebate on March 1st. So did my wife. Both bought on Ebay.

Did you buy via their site or via Ebay?

    • Almost all posting got the email & points.
I got my 6000 from purchasing 1 on eBay by PayPal.

    • Just a suggestion, you keep referring to a voucher and coupon in your posts in the previous deal. As this is clearly stated to be 6000 rewards points ($6 SS credit), have you checked your My Reward Points in your SS account? There is NO VOUCHER, just an update on your SS Reward Points balance!!

    • SS said to contact them if the points did not arrive, so they must be prepared for a few mistakes with so many orders (126'+', 3336 clicks).

As yours is the only angry complaint (so far - 3 days after the due delivery date), I would have expected so many more complaints if it was the 'scam' you claim.

So far, only sounds like a mistake to me.
      "DON'T PANIC" (DNA)

      • You seem to want to ignore the fact that I have already contacted SS about this on the 1st.

You come across as being an apology boy for SS…yet the rep remains silent.

Original offer was stated over 2 weeks ago for the credit to be received by 1 March. Your 3 day reference is therefore incorrect as they have had over 2 weeks (and a follow up) to get themselves organised.

        • They did not distribute until the 1st. So your complaint preceded the distribution, later that day. I read that. They were a day late, big deal.

LOL No real love of SS. Although they have the occasional good deal I have got. Just don't like baseless allegations, when it seems a very few individual errors that Coldwell be easily resolved. Same happens in all areas, especially politics. A few people panic or exagerate rather than do what needs to be done when something goes wrong.

(The other person warning about SS, posted on OB about the keyboard. They made an honest mistake (didn't read the less obvious detail on SS site that SS must have known could mislead) and posted a deal that was not so good. That IS a warning to carefully research what you are buying.)

Almost by definition, Reps promote & are rarely heard from after the sale is made, unless they can get more money from you.

As for SS being prepared, I have trained & supervised teams of prepared staff. In high demand situations (eg 3500 people/day- many old or disabled, to be personally dealt with by 15 staff) mistakes are made, some by me. Having also been a computer consultant, I have seen plenty of errors. It is how mistakes are limited, managed & corrected which is very important. When people blow a simple error or errors into a conspiracy, it does not help resolve the issue.

Seems like a simple error is what has happened to your '$6' worth of points. But unless you tell SS of your problem, nothing will be done. We can't do anything. And no Rep is listening.

Just can't see how you escalate your individual problem into a whole systematic $6 credit 'scam'??
So can see no reason why you call SS a 'scam site'.
But we could discuss this issue forever. We won't.
Just contact SS again & Buyer Beware!

        • +1

@ brucefromaustralia - I'm getting tired of the back and forth and your continual selective bits of info you choose to use and more importantly what you choose to ignore so this will be my last comment to you. Add to that some assumptions you make and you really don't come across well other than appearing to be what I said before.

          1. The deal ($13.90) is no deal as it is cheaper elsewhere:

          SS themselves at $12.90 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-SanDisk-Cruzer-Blade-16GB-USB…

Another Aus seller at $13.45 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-Cruzer-Blade-16GB-USB-Fla…

3 other sellers @$13.90 - So $13.90 seems the going prices and this deal is NO BARGAIN AND DESERVES A NEG

"Just don't like baseless allegations" - everything I said has been factual statements and therefore not baseless. Just because you choose to view them as baseless is not reflective of

"It is how mistakes are limited, managed & corrected" - you saw two responses from SS in the other thread in reply to followups - you are still making excuses for them though and running with an argument that is misguided at best.

"Seems like a simple error is what has happened to your '$6' worth of points" You have no basis to make such a statement from an informed perspective, yet you do. Your assumption of "$6" is also incorrect.

"But unless you tell SS of your problem, nothing will be done." - You talking about the same problem I contacted them the first time about, or contacting them again to say they have now failed to meet their own time frame for a second time.

"So can see no reason why you call SS a 'scam site'" Tell me what is different in this situation to any other site that sells something on agreed terms and then doesn't deliver?

        • LOL! No, sorry ROFLOL!

  • @MrZ. If you have a PC you can get a cheap USB3 card for it.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-4-Port-USB-3-0-PCI-E-PCI-Expr…

    • But then you only get ports at the back of the PC. I use my front ports for USB thumb drives.

      • usb extension cords?

  • Is this usb3.0? I can't see a description anywhere .

  • +1

I have a very very worse experience with shoppingsquare, i bought a keyboard logitech K4 and just find out it was ASIAN VERSION (with a very small print on the bottom of the page - me thinking it was misleading ads), and emailed them in the next 10 min to cancelled my order. The staff simply closed my ticket and saying that they never do a refund but for special occasion after talk to his/her supervisor they allowed to do a refund, but the catch is REFUND as a store credit? WHAT THE????

I mean what kind of customer service is that? they not give you the option, they thought everyone happy they can simply change people real money with some store credit???? at least give a customer an option, either 1. kept the item, 2. store credit, or 3 another option, this is not!

I still waiting for their reply since then. BEWARE!!!

    • +1

Understand your disappointment. You won't be the only one. Many will receive it & start swearing, then need to pay shipping back, in the hope of store credit. So you were lucky to be saved from that! Same keyboards were in other sites deals including from the Logitech shop, and usually carried a warning about it being an Asian version. A warning was posted 96 minutes after the deal you refer to went up, after you bought - agh!! The product is not what you would expect from an Australian site.

But SS clearly stated in bold red beneath the buy box…"Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 with built-in TouchPad - DS ( US English - Asian Version**)". Note those asterisks!!! There is a reason those were there to draw your attention & cover themselves! You could have read that product description before you clicked to buy. So for SS it is a change of mind.

I saw your comment at the time & thought - you poor bastard. SS does not have a good reputation on OB. But by consumer law they can decide to only give store credit. They don't even need to give that with a "change of mind", as their site contained the correct info, whereas OB lacked it for a while.

So the warning is the usual one - Caveat emptor, buyer beware!!
Read the product description on the site, not what others think is on the site.
Do some research. (eg previous deal for this shows it is a slow device!!)

      • +4

I understand that, but they should put "ASIAN VERSION" on the title as their business name and located at Australia (.com.au) and their target clearly for AUSTRALIAN. they not going to expect me or others, as a customer read whole description and for GOD sake it is a keyboard K400, we all know about it, we just looking for the price, they cant expect us to read a small ** to realize it was asian version of the keyboard. IMO, it is a misleading ads.

If their businesses located somewhere in the world and their target is worldwide, I am 100% agree with you. it maybe my fault, but .com.au meant for Australian Market? are we her in Australia using an "Asian writing Keyboard????" NO! therefor, they should write it CLEARLY and BIG!!!

And the worse part is 10min after order, i cancelled it, it is not like 30 days after i received and make complain, NO! we talking about 10MIN for GOD SAKE, ebay even let you cancel the bid no matter what is your reason! oh my my….

They should change their way to do a business here or wait till some big lawyer bought something from them and not happy about it take the site down!!!!

btw, i snap one from logitechshop, i hope others stick their order locally! BEWARE!!!

        • In the heat of a limited deal, I probably would not have read the product description fully either. I was slow to notice the OB deal, so was lucky to learn from your post & not buy. But it should have said great deal for Asians in Oz - Asian keyboard first thing in OB title.
LOL Oops, I was about to criticise the OP for not putting the Asian keyboard in the title, and realised it was you. Poor you.

        • You could try disputing through PayPal or your card provider, as the deal could be seen as misleading. An average person would not expect an Asian keyboard on sale at a normal Australian site. (Now Asian-Keyboards-R-us would be different!)
You did everything you could to limit the loss as soon as possible. You promptly notified the seller to cancel your order. That is the usual test. A financial provider has more clout in an issue like this.

    • WHAT THE????

  • I bought a couple of these, they are slow transfer (was getting about 3Mb/sec transfering 3GB) but good for car usb and general storage.

  • +1

@brucefromaustralia , I know, it was me the one who put the deal on OZB, but because of me, logitechshop challenge the deal with $55, it was $65 before. It is a good idea to put the deal on and then logitechshop beat it, but wrong decision when i decide bought it from SS

    • Sometimes a honest mistake is rewarded. Good on you! Take that devious SS!
There was no criticism meant in my comments, and I took your advice & didn't buy from SS. Thanks! (Its worth disputing the purchase through PayPal/CC though.)

  • Got my 16$ credit for the other 2 so ordered another - good for recovery backups of hp laptops

  • Cheaper here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330688434939#ht_2965wt_976

Deal was 10.95 last time but at it's regular price it's cheaper than this current one. Not express post though (so for an extra 40 cents you get express postage!)
