    5yo game for $42 that's "mostly positive"…. no thanks

Yeah, I can't believe that this is the sale price for a 5 year old game. I thought the original price (before the 50% off) was $42.47 but then I checked steam and realised that's the sale price!

      • I'm no fanboy of the game, and I get we're on OzBargain, but NMS has so much playability. Well worth full price, if you've got friends to play with $42 is a steal.

        • I've never played the game so I can't comment on that aspect but I do take your point. However, I still don't think that a game is worth over $25 when it's been out for more than a couple of years regardless of how much replayability it has or how popular it is. If the game has enough hype, there will be people who will buy it at launch and the price won't be a factor at that time. But if the game has already been out for a while, it doesn't make sense to spend big on it and it would be better to wait for a sale where the price should be closer to the $20-25 mark. The fact that the sale price is $42 makes this a very disappointing "deal". But maybe that's just my thinking!

@alwaysupforabargain: I actually had a lapse in thought earlier when I was commenting lol, there's also a tonne of new content free with the game. The devs really took it to heart how they'd upset their fans with the initial release, and have done probably 4 major updates that could have been DLC packs for an extra cash grab. But they're free.

I'm of the mindset that a game should provide 1 hour of gameplay per dollar spent for "good" value. I know that's not applicable and there's a grander scope, but you can easily get 80+ hours out of NMS.

I do agree though, typically when a game has been out for a while it should be cheaper. Like, I'd love to give the Call Of Duty's another cracker in multiplayer, but I'm not paying $90!

            • @Granok: I read about the major updates from the dev team which was really good from them. That is likely one of the reasons why the price is still on the higher side. Maybe if I played the game, I'd agree more with you but I'm not saying you're wrong either! I wish I had a decent enough PC to play the game (and maybe more time too!)

I know there's been a lot of updates but I don't think this should be a $85AUD RRP game..

    Should be $20ish on sale

    • Does seem Steam keys can be got for at least $10 cheaper, and GOG DRM free version discounted to A$30.99 right now.

  • Oh Steam, you are hilarious. But I do appreciate your platform.

  • I'm a big No Man's Sky fan after being furious and disappointed on release.

You should get this game IF you are happy with a really mellow experience, exploring fairly cool worlds, doing somewhat mindless and repetitive tasks in a wonderful aesthetic with killer music. I would say it's closer to an experience of something like Euro Truck Simulator than it is to something like Star Wars Squadrons if that makes sense.

    • Have you played the latest expansion where you can interact with towns / npcs etc? Does it make the game a lot better?

  • Dayum, why would you spend that much on a 5 year old game when you can buy Just Cause 3 XL edition for much less?

Around $20 from key sellers. No deal!
