At last, the most perfectly engineered junk food in existence

But are they better than Keith's mini Dagwood Dogs? https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/939206/kei…

      • +3

They're cocktail frankfurts wrapped in pastry. Not a hot dog wrapped in pastry.

      • wrong country .. we don't eat that here

        • -1

          wrong country

          wiener ?

      • +2

holy shit dude, how can you put the word "just" in that sentence

        • Have you tried them?

          • @jv: yeh theyre fine if ur just comparing them to all the other cheap shitty frozen food at coles/woolies. Obviously not as good as something home cooked. But damn, $4 :)

            • @DanielP2:

              But damn, $4

Probably still cheaper to make them yourself.

              • +1

                @jv: hot dogs = $1.99 for 500g at aldi
puff pastry sheets = $2.30 for 1kg at coles or woolies (not sure about aldi price)

$4.29 for 1.5 kg ($1.72 per 600g) of homemade puffy dogs. (33% manufactured meat, just like these)

                • +1

@devilbabies: Plus get the kids to make them, so you don't even have to do an work !!!

      • What is it with all your ridiculous posts?!

  • any recommendations for corndogs?

These things give you more side effects than the COVID-19 vaccinations.

    Ill take 3 thanks.

    • i think covid gives you less side effects

        That is what i said:)

        Salt is mentioned 3 times!

        • -2

It's great value, you get three times the quantity of salt smh my head at you drongos. Only place you'll get more free salt is the dead sea and from the HODL-ing morons in Ozbargain GPU deal threads.

      • +1

        Smoked

        Love me some smoked.

      • +1

        Manufactured meat

        Okay…

        • -2

          Manufactured meat

          Good for Vegans then…

  • Sausage rolls > puffy dogs

    • Technically speaking you could call either of them sausage rolls! (okay not really but you get the idea)

      • -2

these are just small hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry.

    • Depends on the sausage roll. Half of the ones I've tried are just meat like paste.

The Herbert Adams is pretty good, but most Woolies near me stopped stocking them about a year back :( Sucks having to go to a different store for one item.

  • +4

These are good snack food in the air fryer. Cheers OP

    • +4

ah mate, dont try to be healthy - just deep fry these babies for added trans fats

    • +1

Exactly how I do them! I reckon they're a total rip off at full price, though at ~half price, I always crumble…

They used to go on sale pretty regularly, but suddenly stopped. I always have a quick look when walking past, and haven't seen them on sale for the longest time. Had to double-take when I spotted them on sale, almost couldn't believe it.

    • Totally very healthy whichever way you cook it lol

  • +1

Never heard of puffy dogs. But these are also called "pigs in a blanket."

    • +1

At high school canteen we called them a 'roll in a roll'

  • +2

Manufactured Meat (33%) [Meat including Pork, Water, Thickeners (1412, 1442)

That really does not sound good.

    • +6

      But it tastes good tho

    • +1

only 33% manufactured "meat" omg! Just buy a real sausage and wrap it in puff pastry.

      • +1

"Manufactured meat is processed meat containing no less than 660 g/kg of meat."

It's still real meat, its just been made ready-to-eat.

Real sausages are also processed meat.

        • +2

lol I was wondering what they think a "real sausage" is

  • +2

Still healthier then almost everything on Krispy Kreme menu.

  • +1

These are the best. Woolworths stopped stocking them awhile ago now, so we have to go to Coles for them. The crispy pastry with the little doggie inside. Yum

  • Tried these once, vomited them in the bathtub.

    • +1

Thanks tubgirl i needed that image in my head. lol

      • Your welcome, they cooked well, but didn't agree.

Better off with hoofmeat in the sausages skinned, comes out better.

        • wish i saw your original comment lol

whats this hoofmeat susage skin, where?
          im intrigued

  • +7

They are decent but this is a rare occasion where DIY is worth the hassle - and gives you the freedom to "tailor" your sausage experience. Yes, your sausage experience. Grab a pack of frozen puff pastry, and your choice of sausage stuffer based on your emotions at the time (for me, it may be anything from a cheese kransky, to a fiery pepperoni, to a leftover from 3 days ago BBQ.

Hassle = yes, regret = NEVER.

What a brave corporate logo. I accept the challenge of MrSparkle

      • +4

I'm disrespectful to dirt. Can you see that I am serious?

  • +4

I have puff pastry in the freezer, gonna pick up some franks on the way home. Cheers for the inspiration.

Easiest way to satisfy the kids

        Nope…

If you want something easy, get this…

isn't mrs macs meant to be good?

    • +1

Honestly the versatility of puff pastry is awesome. My misso chucks all sorts of stuff in it - cheese and garlic rolled up or even nutella. Go crazy!

  • These cause me extreme heartburn/indigestion :(

  • +4

buy a krasky and roll it in puff pastry, you will get real meat at least.

  • It is Great

  • +2

tried them once, not impressed with the flavour

  • These are basially heart attack in puffy dog form.

    • these are just small hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry.

      • Good one.

  • are these HALAL

    • +9

      They are HAHALOL

    • +6

lol is pork considered Halal? didn't think so mate.

  • Love me some world health labeled carcinogenic nitrates .. Avoid if you don't want CC when your older.

  • used to like these as a kid, now I find them bland and tasteless

    • you taste buds have matured.

    • Sprinkle a bit of icing sugar on them… job done

  • Gotta love that artwork on the box, goes to show you they know how to attract their main consumers.

Single Men 18 to 39 who don't know how to cook.

  • +1

Had this yesterday, outside is nice and crispy, but the 'sausage' they have inside is barely a sausage.

  • +1

The last time I had these they had Scooby doo on the front.

  • This is food?? I always wanted to try it and almost at half the cost, i thought i would finally do so.

The food has 2000 calories in the whole box, so heavy for this type of food. Not for me, i think I feel abit sick. I prefer a chiko roll for my sausage in bun
