Still waiting for my Cashback to be validated (not paid out) from the last time this ran.

    • -6

I’ve never bothered with these cash back companies. They all seem incompetent and I’d just get angry waiting.

    • when did you apply?

    • Mine came out exactly as stated in an earlier promotion. I think it was 2 months

    • +4

yeah same, still waiting for my cashback from 2 months ago. :(

    • More an FYI: I received my Cashback on 20/08/21 for my Nord purchase on 09/06/21. Total 72days.
Was 90% deal (not this 95%). Cost me US$89.00 (2 yr) + US$8.90(gst). Total US$97.90 (ended up being AU $125.31).
      Cashback received was AU$100.19.

  • how is the speed when connect to physical server from Vietnam compare to winscribe vpn?

    • Ping 141, Download 29.0Mbps, Upload 5.44Mbps (this was done on a 100/40 connection which steadily get 80+/35+)

      • Is there any chance you could please test Indonesia?

  • +4

    No cap indeed

    • I actually get get my cash back counted from my NordVPN subscription. So yea… no cap 100%

  • +4

I actually did sign up for 3 years of Nordvpn for an effective price of $15. I'm happy with the speeds, and UX - and did get my cashback with no issues.

    • Me too

    • Which country do you connect to for maximum speed?

      • +1

Aus? For general anonymity, the location closest to you will produce the lowest latency.

        Depends on your use case

  • Nordvpn vs cyberghost… any opinions?

    • +2

      I tried both.
      I prefer NordVPN

      And that's a great deal

      • +1

Cyberghost is bit slow, tested yesterday for US and Turkey Region on NBN FTTC 100/40

  • +1

Signed up last time around. Speeds are very very good for streaming and downloading.

Not as great for gaming depending on the chosen server - but there are others out there better for this purpose.

    Just my opinion.

  • Nord or PIA?

  • Do people turn off adblockers when they use cash back offers?

    • +1

Depends what is being blocked eg cookies. I know using Brave with shields on, usually means the transaction isn't tracked.

    • I use Incognito with Ad blocker disabled.

  • did anyone avoid gst charge?

    • Choose Canada and a province they won't charge GST. It will still work

      • +1

will you still get cashrewards though?

        • yes my shopback still tracked.

      • +1

Which province? Every state you select from Canada has a tax surcharge.

        • Forgot which province I picked, I learnt the trick from this post

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10721942/redir

          Maybe try Sri Lanka?

          • @Homr: Ahh right, maybe it worked back then, but it definitely doesn't work now. Can pick any other country that doesn't have tax. I chose Hong Kong. Just wanna correct the misinformation in case someone unwittingly picks Canada and doesn't look.

  • Speeds not good for India even for basic browsing. Too slow

  • +1

FYI: Nord doesn't work when you are overseas and want to watch Kayo.
100% VPN detection every time. Kayo and TenPlay (both rely on 'streamotion' hosting) identify and block Nord.

    • +1

This is getting more and more common throughout the VPN's as they attempt to stop this kind of behaviour (they aren't legally allowed to show content to other regions), depending on what technology they are using, some of them can block a VPN in a couple of days and some just don't at all.

I'm still watching a lot of US shows on their VPN servers.

  • oh damn, took the shopback deal when it was 90% cashback. However, my shopback deal says it wont be processed till November

  • Back before my OzBargaining days, I forked out a few hundred dollars for a 3-year Nord VPN subscription. 95% Cashback would have had me frothing back then, but I just didn't know about it. Good deal for a solid service - can vouch

  • How long does tracking usually take? 1 hour no track

    • 8s it tracked now?

  • ExpressVPN vs NordVPN? I tried both on trial and find Nord nearly 50% slow compared to ExpressVPN but cost also matters. Any Opinion?

    • Expressvpn better but much more expensive.

I use express vpn mainly for China..Nord for everything else

(Only used expressvpn for a month to test). For the price I prefer Nordvpn but cannot comment how good it is in China

      • Pre COVID I would spend a lot of time in China and could never get Nord to work, always had to use Express. Sometimes it was hit and miss but didn't usually have any other options.

        • Thanks for sharing. Yeah China is very strict with VPNs and blocks most of them.

Wouldn't be surprised if expressvpn or other companies have to pay them a little.

It is quite funny though my friend there who lived here for five years. She actually pays for roaming (Aus) to check her email and stuff once a week because she's afraid if she uses a VPN in China she may get in trouble or go to jail.

As foreigners we can kinda laugh and be a little more care free

        • Nord worked fine as-is on Windows, but there was some special setting up for mobile, I think I had to get the OpenVPN app or something like that with some settings supplied by Nord's support team.

They did get all those things through via e-mail though, so there was no "you need a VPN to get a VPN" situation.

    • -1

      Surfshark … ;)

  • I got my cashback validated pretty quickly last time, and it has since been approved and paid.
IIRC, it was like USD99, and got back AUD114

I figured out later that they display a different price based on your browser (Chrome was cheaper than IE/Edge by a few dollars).

  • +3

The 2 year price is below
    2-year plan ($3.30/mo) + 3 months FREE
How does it add up to $89 before GST?

    Is either $3.3 x 24 = $79.2 for 27 months or $3.3 x 21 = $69.3 pre GST???? Am I missing something???

    • +5

You're quite correct!…and when you sign up and select 'Australia' as your country you're quoted $89 + $8.90 GST which you would naturally assume is in AUD, but after signing up I was charged $134.12. It would seem the 2 year deal is $89 + GST in US dollars.

The whole pricing thing is pretty dodgy!

      They'd better honour this offer!

      • +1

EDIT: My order was tracked. I should get $110.86 cashback in 95 days. Basically, I will only be out of pocket $23.26 AUD for 27 months of service.

        • 110.86 is not 95% of $134.12 though :o

          • @kctt: I reckon they're just giving back 95% of the pre-GST component, which I'm not really surprised about.

So far, I'm pretty happy with the service, which works out to be less than a dollar a month.

        • +1

Interesting cause mine says $124.01 cashback 16/12/2021
          $99 + $9.90 GST = $108.90 USD, converts to $148 AUD
I guess they then minus the GST again and discount balance by 95%
You have to wonder what the ATO thinks of this
I was already looking at Nord, so this offer was just a bonus, even though a confusing one that I have to wait 3 months for.

  • +1

Anyway around the 'new' customer only? My sub just expired

    • +1

      Just use a different email

    • +1

I am a current customer and just got to the payment page with the discount applied. Try your luck.

  • New customer and cashback didn't track even though I made sure I reactivated it before payment.

    • +2

Actually it did track now so ignore my previous comment.

      • +1

Mine expires in a year. Wondering if I should buy or try to add lol or just wait a year

        • Yeah I'm in the same boat.

  • +2

Yep for new customers and existing customers who know how to create a new email address.

    • Or use aliases

    • will signing up for Nord with a new email address work if you still use the same Cashrewards account?

  • any good for prime

    • I am stoked to tell you that it does indeed unblock Amazon Prime Video….I signed up for a Showtime subscription to see Penn and Teller's Bulls*** which Amazon eventually blocked me through Surfshark, but it's working 100% through NordVPN so far!

  • looks like surfshark is also doing 90% cashback on cashrewards and higher discounts for 2 years?

which one is the one to go with?

  • and ExpressVPN is doing a $38 cashback with Cashrewards on a 12 month subscription, just signed up to the 12month +3 month free subscription but it didn't track yet after an hour. Will cancel the subscription within the 30day free trial if it doesn't track.

    • The cashback tracked but I ended up signing up with NordVPN as it's a much better deal. Will cancel my ExpressVPN service within 30 days to get my money back.

  • Damn i just signed up to NordVPN last week with cashrewards :( Any chance I can get some love?

    • +1

i think u might be able to cancel that one and get your money back then use a new email to sign up with this deal.

  • Do anyone know if u be able to get cashback if u do it second time. What i mean to say that ( frsttime I signed up but there was extra addon to vpn account then I cancel it and asked for refund ( whose cashreward is showing in the app atm). now I want to sign up again using my second email, will it be tracked again if I singed up today, I dnt want to miss the deal, as it is expiring tomorrow. ??

    Thank you!!

    • If you don't want to miss the deal, then simply just sign up with a different email address! Problem solved!

  • I've never had a VPN before, what is the main purpose?

Would these help me access other regions on Netflix, prime, Disney etc?

    • +1

Yep, was able to watch films like Spider verse when it wasn't available in Netflix Australia a while back. It's available now. Maybe use public wifi securely? Bank securely?

  • Used US 90210 as my location, signed up with chrome incognito window and forgot to turn off Adguard but rewards still worked. Total cost about $11.50 for 27 months VPN!

Did a quick speed test, getting 49/15 on 50/20 connection. Didn't even bother trying the test without the VPN connected because the result is so good. I think they switched to using wireguard in the last year or so and speed reflects that.

    Great deal.

  • Might have to give this a go. My Unlimited VPN trial is coming to an end and I need a cheap VPN that is supported by VPN Manager for OpenVPN.

  • For anyone wondering, it is about AU $11 for 2 years after the cashback. Surfshark is around $6 for 2 years I think.

    • Did surf shark last year but nearly lost a leg. Was free though

  • Nord VPN is great got it last deal.

There smart DNS did work before for netflix but it now gets detected..

There US servers for netflix wernt working for few weeks but some seem to be working now I did a quick test can anyone confirm?

I would stay away from PIA, Cyberghost and a few others.

  • When I pay for the NordVPN, do I pay with credit card directly, or with Paypal? Will Paypal work to get the cashreward later? I am curious because Paypal has 6 month protection, what is to stop someone from getting the cashreward 3 months later, then lodge a Paypal claim to get money back also?

  • Can we sign up for NordVPN when logged in with a VPN, and still get cashreward tracking? Or does use of a VPN disqualify the tracking?

    • Someone on Cheapies used a VPN and connected to Florida, making it roughly $16 (NZD) for the two year plan after cashback. YMMV.

  • I saw some comment about cashrewards doing conversion from AUD to USD and losing a small margin. Does using a fee-free foreign currency credit card like 28 degrees and paying in USD have any benefit when trying to get the cashreward?

  • -3

Tried to sign up for cashrewards account, and it asks me for mobile number to continue. How do I skip the mobile number? Doesn't giving mobile number defeat the whole purpose of a VPN, which is to ensure anonymity???

    • +1

CashRewards isn't the VPN company though. NordVPN is. Or have I misunderstood you?

      • -2

You misunderstood. Not sure how my question can be confused with NordVPN, I am complaining about cashrewards.com.au. We have to make an account with them before buying NordVPN but cashrewards is forcing me to supply my mobile number before I can make a cashrewards account. I ain't doing that!

        • +1

"Doesn't giving mobile number defeat the whole purpose of a VPN, which is to ensure anonymity???"
I think you are confusing yourself, CashRewards does not own NordVPN, sign up for CR account has nothing to do with NordVPN, NordVPN account does not ask for your phone number whatsoever, so your point is?

          • -2

@KanTakahashi: Are you really that naive? Why do you think CashRewards is tracking the sale? Obviously they are going to pass on every information about you, including the mobile number, to NordVPN. Or NordVPN is passing your internet activity to CashRewards. Either way, your mobile number with CashRewards is going to get linked up to your NordVPN account, which is then passed to the government or spy agency eventually. THAT IS MY POINT. I should not need to spell it out.

            • @nice6: Well, if you aint sure how it works, then read their FAQs first rather than imagine everything, just saying ;)
              Quoted from CR:

              -How are my purchases tracked?
As is standard safe practice with most websites on the internet, Cashrewards keeps a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer .These small chunks of information (known as cookies) contain tracking information so that when you are logged in to Cashrewards and you visit a store from the links on the Cashrewards web site, any purchases made will result in the store reading this information. The store will then send us information about your purchase, at which point we can then credit your rewards account.
              https://www.cashrewards.com.au/en/faq

That's why they asking you to turn off adblock ;)

  • +1

Don't forget to disable your adblocker on the Nord site, not only on nordvpn.com but also on nordcheckout.com. Weirdly enough you'll be navigated to the second site once you click on Grab the deal from the first site. There's a high chance you'll make a mistake by disabling the adblocker only on the original site and ended up not getting your cashback tracked/ validated.

I can confirm you can avoid the GST by selecting another country and still get your cashback, I chose Sri Lanka. The final price was A$121.93 and got the cashback confirmation for A$111.49. I've received the email within 30 minutes. Slightly less than the claimed 95% but I'm happy as I got a total of 28 months for A$10 (24 Months + 3 Months bonus + 1 month extra as a referral bonus)
