AmEx Travel Credit Expiry? Extension?

With VIC, NSW and ACT all in some sort of long lockdown, why isn't Amex extending the expiry of our travel vouchers ?

I have the explorer card, what is the best way to use a $400 voucher that is about to expire ?

I'm not interested in selling it in a classified ad because this happened.

Any hacks or ideas to make sure it doesn't go to waste ?

EDIT/UPDATE:

Called AmEx again and they suggested I book a refundable hotel and cancel immediately, the travel voucher will be refunded with a 12 month expiry.

    Call them to get it extended. Already done this already for about to expire credits

    They extended my credit last year but then it lapsed again… this years prob going to expire too. As I doubt I’ll be going anywhere soon.

    I did see other users just book and cancel at a different date, and it apparently resets the counter… but I doubt Amex has the systems to keep tabs on it and it can’t be forever as the yearly credit is not stackable

      Mine got extended for a year when my trip got cancelled.

    I called them a couple weeks ago and they said they weren’t going to extend it. They said I can use it now or lose it. Then when I asked what happens if I can’t travel and decide to cancel, I was told that if my ticket permits cancellation, I’ll get the credit refunded and it’ll expire a year from then.

    So I booked a fully refundable domestic business class flight, downgraded my card to a no-fee version, and cancelled my flight. This loaded the credit onto my no-fee card which expires a year from now.

      Hey,

      Does this work if you cancel the card?
      I assume AMEX would send you a bank cheque?

      I want to flip my card, but I have travel credit and no idea what to do.

    I called and they said no extension. Use it or lose it.

    My AMEX travel credit says "Qantas flights only". Does that mean I can't book a hotel then cancel it right away?
