Not too bad for a 3060..
Wondering when the 2021 Zephyrus G14 and G15 will come down to these prices..

    • I've been waiting for that but I'm kind of tempted to do Legion 5 the prices have been competitive.

  • 3070 version is about $400 more. Might include other small upgrades too.

      Ryzen 9
      Double the storage
      8gb 3070 > 6gb 3060

  • That many Watts cooled by a 40mm fan, the keyboard will melt in your hand!

  • Yeah checking out lots of reviews all complaining about burning temperature …

  • Don't buy this.

I had one, returned it. The Alienware Command Center, which controls lighting and fans, is not designed for the Ryzen chip and is incredibly buggy. It lists unavailable options and causes constant issues, and is the only way to control the fans.

My unit would have the fans shut off randomly at high load when connected to power, causing the device to overheat and crash.

Save yourself the trouble and get something else.

    • So what did you end up getting after returning this? Wonder will ROG, Aorus etc having better quality?

      • I got a Blade 14 with a 3070 for $2800 from Officeworks. I got the M15 R5 for $2080 direct from Dell. Can't fault the Blade.

Your mileage may vary with the M15 R5, all I can say is it didn't seem like they were overly surprised when they tried to troubleshoot the AWCC issue. It's a shame because I liked the build and the screen is great, the performance was great too. It's clear they haven't put a whole lot of work into the Ryzen series of these, so if you want one get the Intel version.

Feel free to google "Ryzen AWCC" and you will see the variety of issues people have had.

        • so you returned at $1900 laptop and purchased a $2800 laptop instead?

          • @Homr: I returned a $2080 laptop and purchased a $2800 laptop, correct.

  • isn't the legion 5 or the legion 5 pro 130W for the 3060? From what I recall it was in a similar (not same) price range

I think the legion 5 has much better thermals than Dell's discrete graphics laptops. The interwebs including Ozbargain is littered with customer complaints of Dell laptops with discrete graphics (gaming laptops) that become too toasty and cause issues. Of course there would be exceptions and not everyone will experience bad thermal design.

Based on what I've noticed on ozbargain and review videos, for my money I would go with an alternative brand for a gaming laptop
