Imagine a WH-1000XM4 that doesn't come with a bra-shaped carrying case.
Plastic is superior for light-weight, comfort-oriented headphones that are designed to be worn on-the-go and/or for prolonged periods of time.
The aluminium in the AirPods Max does however aid in the formation of water condensation, so Apple can reject your warranty claims due to the tried-and-tested "iT's BeEn wAtEr DaMaGeD!!!1!1" excuse.
The condensation forms in other headphones too after long usage, its just that you don’t pop them to see. I agree airpods max are expensive but i think they will last much longer than any other competitors.
@Allaboutdiscounts: Then why hasn't it been reported as a well-known issue with virtually any other flagship ANC BT headphones like the Bose QC 35 IIs or Sony WH-1000XM3s/XM4s? I think someone would have noticed by now given how popular those headphones have been for years.
I've had the XM3s for 4 years now and worn them in all kinds of conditions (including a few times while I've been exercising) and I've never had any issues with condensation.
The Airpod Maxes seem to develop condensation just from normal use without any kind of contributing environmental factors (i.e. sitting in an air-conditioned office) which is probably due to the design and/or materials used.
In any case, the phrase "last much longer" and "Apple" is a contradiction in terms.
