      • Did that, getting - failed our verification process and been cancelled when trying to purchase $500 jbhifi card with 5x$100 cards

        • You can’t do that

        • How are you even able to do that? I had to convert each $100 card to $100 JB one by one.
          Go to https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/the-him-card
Under "how to use", select JB from dropdown, click "online" and then go from there

You have to convert each $100 into a $100 JB Hi Fi eGift card through (I had to do 19 each):
          https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/swapform/9fdf26cfbc7c8f79b…

Once done, you can then use the JB Hi Fi eGift card's (as many as you want) to purchase online through the JB website (delivery, click and collect and collection point included)

          • @KiwiBloke: Ah okay. I thought there is a 5 card limit on an online purchase, that's why I was trying to get a $500 jbhifi card with 5*$100

            • +1

@svartr: Nah you'll be alright! I just purchased an iPhone using 19 gift card this afternoon :D

            • +1

@svartr: There was a five gift card redemption limit on the JB Hi-Fi website, but that was removed a couple of months ago.

  • When putting the gift card into e-jb gift cards - are there any expiry on this? or the same 3 years ?

    • +1

JB Hi-Fi gift cards (physical and digital) have no expiry date.

      • that's amazing - thank you

  • Do we also get every day reward points on these?

    • Nope, Gift Cards are usually excluded from Reward Points (unless Bonus)

    • +2

You do at Coles but not Woolies

    • -1

Yes you do in woolies. For Him/Her cards, not for specific retail cards like the Jb HiFi. I personally confirmed it for these two.

  • Thank you OP.

Awesome deal and idea. The only thing that I found annoying was having to convert or swap 3 cards to JB. I echo someone else that said the same thing.

I think they should allow multiple card swap in one go. You have to punch the same information (first name, surname, phone number, confirm phone number and email). I only had 3 cards, if I had more I would have lost it! The first 2 were processed instantly the last one almost 2 hours later.

  • Another 10 $100 HERs in Woolies Alexandria today - still a bunch left

  • Do you have to go in in-person for this? The link doesn't take me to any product on the Woolworths website, so I'm confused.

Gift Card deals are in-store only.

  • How does the Cinema gift card work? Can I be sure that it will work if I use it at Cineplex in Brisbane? (and that I won't get any complaints from the staff)

    • +1

How does the Cinema gift card work?

It is an EFTPOS gift card that can be used as a payment method when purchasing goods or services at a cinema. It works just like a bank card, where you can swipe it at the terminal, select Savings and then key in the PIN on the back of the card.

However, it only works at EFTPOS terminals where the merchant category has been coded as cinemas.

      • For example, if you are at a cinema complex and go to an arcade section next door, it probably wouldn’t work there, as I doubt the arcade section would code their EFTPOS terminals to have a merchant category of cinemas.
      • Similarly, you cannot use these EFTPOS gift cards at Coles or Woolworths to purchase goods, as they are (obviously) not cinemas!

Can I be sure that it will work if I use it at Cineplex in Brisbane?

No. Whether or not they accept the gift card depends on three things:

      • Whether or not they have correctly coded their EFTPOS terminals with the cinema merchant category. I’d like to think they have!
      • Whether or not they have set up their EFTPOS terminal to block these cards. I would be quite surprised if a cinema’s EFTPOS terminal has been set up to block these cards, but you never know!
      • Whether or not management have told staff to not accept these cards.

By purchasing or attempting to use the Cinema gift card, you accept clause 4 of the gift card’s terms and conditions:

The Cinema Gift Card works on the eftpos payment platform for cinemas that have a merchant category code that corresponds to this industry type. Gift cards are still subject to individual merchant acceptance and in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and any applicable law and subject always to the individual trading terms of each participating merchant.

Basically, a cinema can choose to not accept this gift card, and you’ll have no recourse with TCN if the cinema you want to use it at refuses to accept it.

I guess it will be up to you to take the plunge and try to use the gift card at Cineplex.

(and that I won't get any complaints from the staff)

Basically, don’t tell staff you’re trying to use a cinema EFTPOS gift card!

I don’t like the Cinema, Restaurant, Bar & Pub or Pamper gift cards (or the equivalent category-restricted prepaid Visa gift cards sold at Woolworths), because:

      • They may not be accepted at a business that you think would accept it, because it is reliant on businesses using specific merchant category codes, plus some businesses may outright reject gift cards.
      • They are (in essence) EFTPOS gift cards. You have to carry the card everywhere you unless you have access to and are happy to use the TCN app and the Apple Wallet. There is no equivalent for Google/Samsung Pay at the moment.
      • They have a three-year expiry date.
      • They can be a nightmare to use up all the funds, particularly as some businesses will not allow split payments.

A 10% saving on category-restricted gift cards is good and all, but I don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze for these types of gift cards. I prefer to stick to the Coles Gift Mastercard, The Perfect EFTPOS gift card or (discounted) supermarket gift cards, as they are much easier to use up the balances.

Thanks for this. Got a MacBook Air from JB HiFi which was already 10% off. Had a little difficulty finding cards, eventually got a mix of Him and Her cards from the Scoresby Woolworths.

  • Can you buy these cards with a woolworths gift cards? Thanks.

    • +2

      No.

Woolworths stopped allowing the purchase of gift cards with Woolworths/WISH gift cards in 2018.

      • +1

        thanks!

  • For any Ken Behrens looking for these gift cards, the store in Westfield Belconnen (ACT) has heaps of HIM ($50, $100), HER ($100) and TEEN ($50) gift cards.

  • Hi everyone, I just did a big shopping so I just wanted to share my experience for other peasants out there like me (lol)

1 Can you buy this card online?

Yes but you also need to pay additional credit fee of AUD 5 per 500 dollars and you don't get that 10% discount so its pointless.

Only in stores you get that 10% off and since its just a 1 week promo, even staffs are not aware of it. I purchased in Woolies (not sure if anyone else sells this).

2 Can you use the cards online?

Not sure about other stores but for JB HiFi you cannot use it directly, you need to go to the Him/Her card website and convert it into that specific store digital card. I chose the "online" card option.

3 Is there a limit to how many gift cards you can use per transaction for JB HiFi online shopping?

Legend says that it was 5 and then it was extended to 10 so I was quite nervous not knowing it, so I tried it myself. I used 13 cards per transaction so I guess there is no longer any limit to it for online shopping (in-store never had any limit - confirmed by JB staff). I guess it could be due to the lockdowns.

Bonus tip: I work in woolies so I get 5% staff discount on all products (including normal gift cards) and I got it for these cards as well. So in total I got 14.5% discount (since it 5% of the total). Best deal ever.

    • Your answer above is wrong. You do not earn EDR pts on it, which shows you are not experienced in this area.

      Best deal ever.

Not true. Coles had 15% straight off for any one last year. Probably it wont happen again, though.

      • I DID get massive points which got converted to Qantas points which I then converted to another gift card. I don't know if its due to some points booster or glitch, but I got 30k points (10x boosters) in total so its up to u to believe it or not. I am a woolies staff for 4 years now (LOL).

I never did shopping in Coles so I can't comment on that but Woolies does this sale every year so its consistent.
