What exactly is IPS-Level panel, is it IPS, VA or TN?

    • +3

Normally means a better coloured TN panel. 100% sRGB in this display it would seem.

    OzBargain's two favourite questions:
    - 400 nits
    - From what I can see the RAM is soldered and not upgradeable.

Don't forget THIS IS LAST GEN SO ITS ALREADY OUT OF DATE BUT WAIT FOR 6TH GEN RYZEN TO RELEASE BECAUSE 5TH GEN IS ALREADY GETTING OLD

ALSO 16GB OF RAM IS THE MINIMUM IF YOU WANT TO EVEN RUN WINDOWS 10

        • +1

Can you stop shouting, my eyes hurt. And 32Gb if you run Chrome.

      • …but it doesn't have a gtx1650…

    • Non-upgradable RAM is such a deal breaker for me. 8gb just doesn't cut it anymore

  • Any thoughts on this instead of the 425 from anyone who knows anything about laptops sorry?

It's an excellent laptop, with that CPU and RAM you'll get a good few years out of it.

The trackpad screen thing is a gimmick, you'll turn it off after using it twice.

Build quality from Asus is excellent. The only reason I didn't buy this device the last time around was that it doesn't have a Thunderbolt port (which is a deal breaker for me).

Also, the blue and gold colour scheme is very sexy.

Thanks Geosta. Appreciate it. The trackpad thing did look very cool!
This laptop would primarily be a laptop for work from home for my wife. Would barely leave the desk. I Think I'll have to do some more reading on thunderbolt! Thanks again

  • friend wants to sell his Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 13.5" basic model core i5 10th gen for $850, is it good?

    • +1

By any chance did he have an iPad 2 lol

      • lol, dont think he would have anything that old for Surface trade in bonus from Microsoft lol

        • Just had to buy a cable to charge so I can wipe my data because somehow in the 4+ years since I've charged it the cable has gone walkies

I'm sure Kmart was most pleased. Let's hope it still powers up haha

    • Yes, Surface Laptop 3 is a good buy - real nice bit of kit, my daughter has one for school (#overkill #spoiled)

  • $999 is not a bad price

  • The numpad trackpad on these are annoying as. There’s an on and off switch on the trackpad but it’s also a touch option so you can just accidentally type in numbers randomly which is not ideal. We have one at work.

    • You have to hold down the touch capacitive button for a few seconds to activate it. And even while the numpad is lit up, you can use the trackpad normally.

      • Yep I know how it works. I’m just letting everyone know that despite that switch, it still cause this issue.

        • Not in my experience, unless you hold your finger over that small area for no reason. It's very hard to activate unwittingly.

  • Is 8GB ram a deal breaker?

    • what are you planning to do with the laptop?

      • 8GB is fine for work only
