Free in Melbourne and parts of VIC.

With Powerpal you can instantly see how your energy use changes when you turn on and off your home appliances so you can take control of how you use energy in your home. I have been using it for past 5-6 months. Have been pretty good.

Not sure with current restrictions how they are in terms of backlog, but they usually rotate between suburbs, and you get a notification after you register when they are in your area.

In terms of setup - little device that go on the electricity meter, works with bluetooth. I think 5-10 min setup that the powerpal guy/gal does for you.

  I think this is a pointless exercise, just telling how much power been used by wasting your government money.
  This wouldn't find any items that draw more power unless you turn off everything and check one by one or might as well get $20 adaptor than can check your usage.

      Yes for the whole house, just read the metrer time to time, you see the difference.
      I don't see the usefulness of whole house enegy usage on your phone ? What you gonna do with it?
      There is no free lunch, this company get money from the government, where does that money coming from ? That's why I negative this.

        You are missing the whole point of it.
        I can see what power is being used within any given minute of time should I need. A good example is to see how many kWh is consumed overnight when you are all asleep in bed. It should be very low.
        The following night, turn off the power to all the unnecessary things and see how it compares. That's just a single example. It can be surprising what shows up around the house if just left running. There are many many other uses and fun things to discover over time.

  Had it installed around 6 months ago and I check it couple of times a day.

  Found it very handy to track real-time usage and scream at my housemates when they run their electric heaters all day long during winter.

  I have had it for a year and suddenly stopped not appearing on any devices, Bluetooth just doesn't find it anymore. Support so far has been useless. What a waste if it's faulty, can't go past a year?

          Yeah, tried 5 other devices in the house, nothing picks it up, but can see other devices, even my neighbour's Bluetooth TV lol

  As mentioned earlier, many in Australia refuse to have so called, 'smart meters' due to clearly linked health related issues.
  Even in Vic (as we have all paid for them with a temporary increase in our 'service' fees), a few years back.

  Powerpal installers will refuse installation, once they see a 'spinning disk'/analogue meter.

  Their loss, but our 'admitted' handicap.

      Analogue meters dont have pulsed LED output, which Powerpal reads the usage from….

    You can get a smart meter for free if existing is old Analogue one. Call your retailer.
    From memory, the health issue more relates to if you were sleeping next to them i.e. Meter was on the other side of the wall to where your bed is i.e. constant very close contact.

  Can't recommend this. Bluetooth no longer finds the device. Support is useless. Won't help you.
