Nice price for a Sony flagship tv.

however better buy 75" and larger.

    • -8

      Can't be flagship - it isn't OLED.

      • +8

Flagship FALD. Come on you knew what he meant.

      • +2

It's their flagship for bright/well-lit rooms.

        • Concur. I bought this for my living room that gets pounded by light, an OLED would do a woeful job.

    • -1

Will you be buying me a larger entertainment unit for a 75" to sit on? I've measured ours, and a 65" won't fit, so just let me know your card details and I'll buy a bigger one.

  • doesnt ship to melbourne. why?

    • +2

Sony ebay has it for $1999 delivered.. try that

    • Bing Lee is only a major in NSW. Freight to us especially under lockdown is astronomical in cost.

      • thanks

is bing lee thegoodguys in melbourne?

        • +2

Good guys is basically JB. Bing Lee is pretty much only in NSW. I think they are comfy in being just a major retailer there.

  • +1

This is just a super price. I cant believe TVs this year are cleared to such low prices, even during a chip shortage. With prices like these, you'd think Sony isn't affected by ps5 shortages…

    • +2

Well TV chip use fairly older process, I think like 28nm unlike shiny new phone or console/GPU which are 8nm-5nm. Also these are 2020 models so they already have been in production even before Covid.

      • Why would big TVs need to use 5nm processors ?? They're big enough to have bigger ones just like regular PC's that are still efficient more powerful and probably cheaper to buy..

        • +1

I'm just saying it's fairly older process which isn't affected as much as newer process that is having chip shortage about.

      • how about automobile? they claim running out of chip too

  • +1

Tempted but I have heard these do not play nicely with PS5, which is the main use case for me.

    • +11

I have one for PS5 and it works completely fine. Also read heaps on whirlpool about that issue. At the end of the day 99% of people don't give an F haha and at this price it's a no brainer and I doubt many games even support 120fps 4k lol. It beats having a cheaper tv with input lag and at end of day you wont give an F too

I read all the doomsday scenarios, still got one for my ps5 - it's amazing for it. Don't psyche yourself out by reading a bunch of whirlpool whingers that don't live in the real world lol

      Great TV and great price

      • ok boss, will get 1.

  • -8

Who wants anything larger than 65, 65 is massive already most people don’t have that amount of space..

    • +3

I can remember thinking a 5" phone was ridiculously oversized .

      • I can remember thinking a 5" phone was ridiculously oversized .

Yeah but do you now own a 45" phone? No because there is a natural limit for screen sizes. For phones it's about 6", for TV's it's about 65" (for most people who don't live in McMansions).

    • I grabbed the 85" x900h from bing lee ebay for $4k (~$1k after SG cashback). The 65" old sony is on the wall in the bedroom now.

Most places would fit an 85" tv I would imagine? I don't have a large place and it fits on either wall of the living room.

      • About $1000 after SG cash back??

I used SG to get the $ to buy the TV (cashed out $6k aud worth of SG to make the purchase) and got 1100 SG coins at the time for the $4k ebay spend (50% of ebay spend) - SG coins were down in value at the time.

If I cash out today, the SG coins I earnt for the TV transaction are worth $2200USD, $3036

I'm sitting on $28k USD in SG at the moment.

          • @MorriJ: Make that $35k USD at todays rates (nearly enough to buy that Tesla I've had my eye on).

  • Pity about the $40 delivery, makes it only $60 cheaper than buying it from sony or jb

    • Sony will price-match anything expect coupon-based deals.

      • But this is a coupon deal so it won't be price matched.
Both sony and jb hifi have it at $1995 plus free delivery on their websites, compared to $1935 (inc delivery) for this

        • But this is a coupon deal

It's not a (physical) coupon if every many and his dog can use the same promo code.
Had success with Sony, myself, this way.

  • Are you sure no HDMI 2.1 ? Sony website says HDCP 2.3, also says “FEATURES SPECIFIED IN HDMI2.1: eARC”

    • +4

Definitely not HDMI 2.1. Earc can be used on HDMI 2.0b

    • +1

The budget model X9000H had hdmi 2.1 but not the X9500H, But it didn't get the VRR capabilities enabled as promised at release. However that seems to have changed and they have released an update it in china recently from what I have seen.

Amazing price for a great tv.

  • +1

I got the 55 inch version. Fantastic picture quality for an LED tv, Motion is top-notch on this set.

  • How does it compare to
    Samsung 65-inch AU8000 Crystal UHD

    • +3

      This is better.

    • +1

Miles better, this has Full Array Local Dimming and better processor from Sony. Its a completely different class to AU8000

  • Damn where is the 75" sale on this hopefully soon being a 2020 model.

    • Jb hifi has it on sale for $3295. I know it's not low enough for some people but I doubt you will get it much lower before stock runs out.

    • I bought the 75inches at JB for $2785

  • I bought it earlier for something as $2300, Good TV but it can not record.

  • Will CR and SB give cashback if the ebay discount code is used?

    • Possibly; worth checking on each cashback site if its a listed code.

Socialgood seem to though from my experience - they seem to honor most codes [theyve honored all my codes] and if you can be bothered doing the crypto sell coin, transfer usdt to aussie exchange and cashout fiat, the 50% is worth it.

I bought the 85x900h for $4k from Bing Lee and got $3k back in SG if i cash out tonight. Its a never ending cycle for me with it - i cashed out $6k of SG coins to make the TV purchase.

  • So many up votes but no buyer?

  • No HDMI 2.1 but upvoted, genuine question but I thought 2.1 was a must from a new TV now?

    • Most people don't game and 2.1 is only useful for PC or Xbox as they have VRR. PS5 doesn't so far. For hardcore gamers yes 2.1 is relevant but for everyone else theres no need for it

      • Most people keep their TVs for a very long time unless they break.

        • Yes but if you don't play video games then unlikely you'll pick up the habit later on. I play but most people I know don't. Percentage of people that have a PC capable of 4K 120 or have the new xbox is not that big. So in reality 2.1 is not important

          • @Whisper Quiet: My TV is older than my daughter who games. You're much better off with something versatile if you're going to keep it for a long time. You really can't predict what it will be used for, so why pick a model that limits you?

            • @syousef: Wow you pick an extreme circumstance. Most would keep their TV for as long as possible but put the older one in a bedroom while upgrading to a larger one around 5 years time. Does your daughter have a PC with the latest $3000 GPU or have any games on the xbox capable of 4K 120, let alone will see any difference if she has VRR with a handful of games that actually utilise it. Like I said VRR is for hardcore gamers and 99% of people wouldn't even be able to tell if its on or not. Its not about future proofing with this as its a very niche feature. Its been advertised as a must have but that's because they need to sell TVs. They haven't added anything new for years, in fact most TVs are worse now then from 4-5 years ago. I guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it, thats if you even know what it does?

              • -2

@Whisper Quiet: It's not extreme at all. I very seriously doubt that HDMI 2.1 will be considered a high end feature in 5 years, nevermind 10. Yes I know "what it does". Window shopping costs nothing. Assuming ignorance about someone is rarely a good plan.

                • -1

@syousef: I didn't assume i asked the question if you actually the read the comment properly

                  • @Whisper Quiet: Wasting my time with this conversation. "I guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it, thats if you even know what it does?" was pretty insulting and nothing I said was at all extreme.

                    • -1

@syousef: Well I can't most of the time and I have the equipment to do it. Im insulting the technology and the extremes they've gone to market it like its something special. If you want to take something personal then that's on you

                      • @Whisper Quiet: "thats if you even know what it does" == you're probably ignorant and have no clue what you're talking about. There's no ambiguity there, and it's not me wanting "to take something personal". It always amuses me when people cast aspersions on the knowledge a stranger on the Internet may or may not have. As a pure numbers game you're probably safe but there's always a possibility you're talking to a bonefide expert.

                        • @syousef: Sorry for hurting your feelings Princess. You must find it hard to live in this world when you are that sensitive. You are talking to an expert! Haha

    • What does it do?

      • +2

VRR allows the game to be run anywhere between 30-120hz while it constantly changes, adjusting when needed. If the game has a different framerate to the TV or monitor (not divisible by 120hz) then you may see some screen tearing or stuttering. All Xbox games are fine as they are mandated to the 120hz rule for easy accessibility, so you won't have an issue with that. PS5 doesn't use VRR. So the only problem you will have is with 4K 120 hz gaming on PC. These issues you may see here and there depending on the game. 2.1 is overblown marketing hype that they led people to believe is the best thing for TVs since they came in colour. Also all TVs with HDMI 2.1 have issues with VRR whether its a small one like colour banding or bigger ones like stopping local dimming.

        • Thanks

    I miss Bing Lee's 20% off eBay sales. :(

Subtract census fines, and next year's voting fines in NSW and this TV's a bargain.

  • This TV or Sony X90J ???

    • Good question. I’m looking at getting the X90J.

    • +1

From what I have researched. X90J for gaming and this for movies.

      • Really? I thought the X90J was a step above the X9500 (being newer). I think I still prefer the X90J.

  • Is the LG C1 worth $1k more?

  • I am very confused with the TV stand from the photos, is it on the left/right edge or like in the main photo on the inside?

    • Can be adjusted to be either.

  • Does anyone know width of stand from leg to leg (looking front on)?

    • they literally sit on the ends of the unit, so pretty much same width as the tv

      • You can move it so it comes in from the edges like the picture.

        • yes, I only noticed above that someone said that. I just looked underneath and saw the other slots. If I had know that I prob would have put them there instead of the ends

  • WTF….I literally paid $2065 a few weeks ago during the GG sale damn

  • got OLED 55" for the same price. Would rather buy this

  • -4

I bought same tv for $1274 3 weeks ago 😬.

    • +3

      $1274? Where?

      • -1

Can see salties on my comment, let me clear, It was for $1495 ‘seconds, then I got 15% off for using afterpay, so paid $1274, it was brand new when arrived.

    • You got ripped, I got one with my happy meal…

      • Should I ask for the boys toy or the girls toy?

        • -1

They hand dildos out now with happy meals? Crazy new world!
