  • Neither my Wife or myself received the bonus points from Points Hack as ANZ refused to honour. Can't say if this was ANZ or a Points Hack issue.
    Still chasing with Customer Service.

    • Just checked the offer and its not exclusive to PH. Fixed the description.

    • +1

Point hacks dont issue the points
      Its anz
Did you click through their affiliate link?
Was it 12 months between cards?

    • did you have screenshots etc?
      which deal was it?

    • which deal is this?

  • +3

Not a bad card, but I'll be cancelling mine asap due to fact it cannot be added to Samsung Pay/Google Pay….

    • Yea, not having GP is quite inconvenient.

    • OK that is kinda a deal breaker for me… strange feature NOT to have these days.

    • I use my Coles card with GP by using Bundll

  • The citibank one seems like a better deal atm. Higher spend, but more points and lower fee

    • Is it the $75,000 minimum income one?

      This is only $35,000

    • Points per dollar are better for this one. In the end, you may get more points out of the Qantas one.

  • What does 90k points translate to in $ value?

    • +1

      ~$900

      • +1

That’s awesome. Card might come in handy as planning to go on honeymoon with the mrs

        • +1

Not quite $900 if you expect it as voucher value.

          • @nadan: Anywhere I can find the rewards? Link to rewards page

              • -2

                @nadan: Cheers Nadan.

Is it me or does ~90k points translate to about ~$500. Contrary to what @his_holiness said (90k = $900)?

                • +4

@A female dog: That is why I said it doesn't quite add up to $900. If you use it towards booking a reward seat it will be around that mark, or if you sell your points which is not allowed.

                • +3

@A female dog: The typical figure people use to calculate is 1c per point which equals $900. This is towards the lower end, really you can get up to 15c per point on the highest end. This is only really achievable on international business / first class.

The value of the points is highly dependent on your intention with them. You should never use them for products other than flights as the value is never there.

                  • @Nand0sx:

You should never use them for products other than flights as the value is never there.

She should use them however the female dog wants it, she may not fly or be allowed on the plane :)
Seriously though, whatever your needs are, the best use of points are for flights but if you don't intend on flying then look out for Qantas store sale if you are after a particular item or get the vouchers.

                    • @nadan: Thanks all for the feedback and advice. Very helpful and makes sense!

Debating whether to get this offer or join Amex. Heard Amex has a lot of good offers and discounts for their product range.

                      • +2

@A female dog: Take out the amex
earn the bonus points (you'd be surprised how many places actually accept it now)
                        cancel the card

                        repeat 18 months later.

                        • @Drakesy: Will the Amex Reward points being kept under your account after the card was cancelled?

  • Thanks! I need a new card for points

Apart from ANZ, Citibank, and Amex cards, are there any other decent credit card deals available?

    • +1

St George 60k points i believe

      • Be prepared to give your ID documents, rectal exam results and an ungodly overbearing and unheard of amount of financial information in the form of payslips and bank statements dating months.

They now do biometric Id verification where you have to take a photo of your ID in real time and take a photo of yourself in multiple angles.

        • Theyre getting more strict, i Logged into an banking portal through AMEX and they approved me instantly.

payslips didnt work, my name is on the outside and info on inside so they never approve them! Its annoying but little options.

    • +1

Yeah StG/BoM was easy and good value. I've done ANZ, NAB, BoM, and AMEX - AMEX remains the easiest.

  • +2

Just a heads up citi has the equivalent with 100k points and 4k spend

    • Was just about to mention it too. Better deal than this.

    • Link? Ive already hit my AMEX 3k in 6 weeks.

Im waiting for the end of NOV for my ANZ renewal if its still available.

Im building, so its easy to hit the spends atm.

      • it's up on ozbargain ;)

    • More points for less annual fee, however it's a Black level card with a $75,000 minimum income and $15,000 minimum credit limit. It doesn't say if it's a World Mastercard, though, like most Black cards are, and it doesn't have the metallic Mastercard circles in the picture like the World Mastercards do, so it might not be a true Black card, if that matters to you.

This, being "only" a platinum card, has a minimum income of $35,000 and $6,000 minimum credit limit.

  • I have this CC. The app is not the best, but it's fine. Not being able to use it for google/apple pay is pretty annoying. Points per spend is great.
My card actually expires in December, rather than updated my 100 direct debits with the new cards details, now is a good chance to get a new one.
Any decent deals going at the moment that have high qantas points per $ spent?

Citi and St george look good, but real shittty points on spend.

    • so this one doesn't support Google pay? I almost submit an application, think I will pass then.

      • Correct

      • why not just use it as a pints top up and then cancel it after? CHURN CHURN CHURN

    • +1

A true Ozbargain Churner doesn't worry about rates
Their only concern is the bonus points ;)

    • I just got the Amex one. I just cancelled this one haha

    • This definitely has Apple Pay

  • +1

I think the lowest first year fee for this card in its history was $139 for 80k QF points. I'm still in the QF Money exclusion period anyway (have to wait until February next year). We will see how the next offer goes.

  • As unfortunately I don't fly a lot, but like the concept of getting flying point like with Qantas, I thought I try to add to this post by sharing a tip I found here from a previous post.

To stop your points expiring I use the Qantas well-being app.
I set the steps challenge to the minimum to ensure I meet the flying points reward and thus keep my points indefinitely.

Or…you could strap your phone to you dog to get extra points in the step calculator.

  • Is it plausible to sign up for the card,
    Spend the $3500,
Get the points and other goodies,
Then cancel the card before the end of the year,
And avoid paying the annual fee.

I know this sounds overly frugal.
    Just wondering.

    • +1

I presume the first annual fee would be charged when you order the card, happy to be correct though.

    • You're always charged the af upfront.

So makes sense to keep the card for around 11 months then cancel.

Unless you churn cards and want to be eligible for their next bonus pt promotion as soon as possible (I think every card issuer has a blackout period where you arnt eligible to sign up for another bonus point card of that same financial institution for 12/18/whatever many months) this is why people sign up, reap the bonus, close as soon as points hit the account.

      • Cheers for that.
        Very helpful.

      • +2

No no, it makes sense to cancel as soon as your bonus points land because they will pro rata refund the annual fee (if you ask).

I got back $150 of the $199 fee last time (had the card open for 3 months).

        • Nice tip thx

        • Does Qantas pro-rata refund??

          • @txb: Yes should. If they say no, I would hang up and call again to speak to someone else. Shouldn't come to that though. I didn't need to twist any arms at all.

            • @endolphin: Thank you. So your request went smoothly when you called. How quick were you able to close after meeting the spend?

Don't suppose you know if this card makes you ineligible for any other citi card (seeing as citi are the credit provider)?

              • @txb: I have held two citi backed cards at the same time before, BUT, the only time I have been knocked back was from Virgin Money (citi) when I was also holding another citi backed card.

                So, depends, but is riskier.

                • @endolphin: I see, better hit up Qantas Money to be sure. Do citibank prorata? is there a list of banks that prorata? (I know nab do from the recent nab 120k pt card)

  • Question regarding the:

2 x single entry Qantas Club or Qantas operated International Business Lounge invitations per anniversary year.

Does anyone know,If I travel with my wife, can we both get into the lounge, or do you think they’ll restrict it just to the card holder¿

    • +1

      Can be anyone.

      • Sweet. Thank you :)

    • +1

It's a digital pass, which can be transferred to another Qantas Frequent Flyer member. It has to be linked to a flight and there are some conditions on use.

      Complimentary Lounge Invitations

      • Invitations must be linked at least 24 hours before departure of the Eligible Flight
      • Eligible Lounges will be shown when linking an invitation
      • Check lounge opening hours, location and bar service times prior to your arrival
      • Review our lounge dress code
      • Eligible Customers cannot bring guests, including children
      • Invitations cannot be used with Group Booking flights

      Terms and conditions apply.

  • This had 80 status credits last time I looked at it. Gone now.

    Rude.

  • So I guess need to buy gift cards worth $3500😁

  • Applied 2 weeks ago… Still nothing…

    • tell me about it… 4 times after uploading docs, they message me for more pay slips. Called them and showed my total disappointment in the process, it got approved instantly and extra 5000 points.. Give them a call on 1800 807 138

  • What are people's experiences in terms of time taken for points to be received after minimum spend has been met?

    • Came here to ask the same thing. Hit the minimum spend in 2nd month but bonus points weren’t transferred on that statement… think I might have to wait until the month after you hit minimum spend?

      • Have you checked your qantas frequent flyer account to see if it was deposited?

I have hit my minimum spend (1st month) and have yet to get my 1st statement but I will update my experience when the points hit.

        • Yes I have checked today but no points.

I hope I won't run into any issues since I had the Citi Qantas Card, and just received the points for that. Hopefully I will still be eligible for the Qantas Premier points as well since it looks like it is also financed by Citi? I assume they are two totally separate entities, hopefully won't run into any dramas..

          • @JHoliday: 90,000 bonus points just came through, even though they not showing on the statement generated for this month.

  • Great churn card, points came through 1 business day after the first statement. Called up Qantas Money and got a full Annual Fee refund over the phone on the account closure as the card was only open for 1 statement period, easy as.

    • Were you offered the refund on the spot or did it have to go through a review first?
